Masked Lapwing Size: 35-40cm Habitat: Is widespread across Australia found in open grasslands, swampland, city parks and sports ovals. Wanders open areas in search of insects, worms, and other small creatures. Notes: Head is black with noticeable "yellow mask" around eyes, neck is white with black band around shoulders. Back and wings grey, underbody white; dark red legs. Breeds Summer-Autumn.
im sure u have spectacular birds as well, but i guess these are different from what you see normally.
but australia does have a lot of unusual flora and fauna. :-) some pretty weird flower - have u seen "the Bottle-Brush tree"?? they probably have pics of it on google or wikipedia
yeah :-) we have a tree in our garden but it isn't growing very well. but there is a huge tree down our street that is full of bottlebrush flowers, very pretty :-)
yeah Oz does have some beautiful birds :-) but im not sure if we have hummingbirds... i don't know. if we do, i haven't seen any. but maybe up in tropical queensland.

I freakin love birds! All we have around where I live are crows though and Im terrified of them.

crows do look quite scary in all that black.
it's a shame that you don't have much variety in birds, but i guess there are other types there but maybe they are shy so u don't see them so much.

They grow bottlebrush trees here in America (we've got one), but I think they come from Oz originally. Hummingbirds love them.
Oz has some beautiful birds alright. They make America's seem downright boring.
