@thedarkinhell depends... i like the wood finish, but i really like composite. both work well, but the plastic doesnt weigh as much, and can look just as good with a good paintjob.
I think a hollow titanium stock would be the ultimate stock, esp if u had larry's money, as it wouldn't give a shit about any weather conditions, still be lightweight and not scratch easily.
Soviet WWII era weapon stocks are usually made of whatever was available. My M91/30 was made in 1942 it's birch, my brothers was made in 1944 and it's a lightweight wood (ash I believe) soviets were all about making due. The model of weapon is irrelevant to stock material.
@1337chsacker thats because the svt40 is a gas operated rifle with a muzzle break. Most high powered hunting rifles are bolt action for their superior accuracy so that means you feel all the recoil. Why do you think the mosin nagant stocks are a heavy hardwood?

andypandycool 2 years ago
a hardwood stock looks nicer but i dont like the extra weight on small caliber rifles. wood stock for weight all the way on my .30 cal rifles
amishterminator 2 years ago
id go the composite, fibreglass or the carbin fibre stocks as there tough and as he said if well bedded it will not move :)
