I wouldn't discount Iran's power. They are not Arabs who were willing to sell out to CIA spies, with bags of cash and promises of jobs in the U.S., like Saddam's high command did.

@sspersian Look Turks came from Altai Mountains (where Kazakhstan along with the rest of Central Asia, Mongolia, Russia and China meet) and spread east and west but mostly west and settled in modern day Turkey in Anatolia, first they came as mercenaries and soldiers of Seljuks under Abbasid rule then formed their own empire and got incorporated into Persia as well, then Mongols destroyed them and they began the Ottoman dynasty which overshadowed Persia and ruled 3 continents at its height

@sspersian So only 3 wars out of many were somewhat favourable for Ottomans and that was because Ottomans were busy fighting Europeans while Safavids were taking advantage of that and stealing land, like I said earlier at least Turkey was not occupied like Iran in the 20th century, Britain, France, etc. tried but were kicked out after WWI while Iran easily got conquered by USSR and Britain in 1941, I suggest u read more history before u comment again.

Well this is old news since it ocurred back in October of 2008. Besides, I don't know what the big deal is about Iran's military excercises. EVERY country in the world that has a standing army, does them. Second of all, why the references to Iran attacking Turkey? They are not enemies for one, and second, the Iranians conducted their excercises on their territory. Third, a lot of people seem to grossly underestimate the Iranian military. I don't see any country trying to prove that point!

Perhaps that's because they are a member of NATO.
Being in that membership, their military is totally dependent on NATO equipment which is manufactured by the U.S., U.K. and other Western European countries.
Iran doesn't have that convience and even until recently, the Russians would only sell them less technoligical advanced equipment such as kalashnikovs (AK-47s) because they also had political disputes.
Iran deserves some credit, since they don't depend on other nations as much.

@turkishboarder Nope Turkey and Iran would not go to war for many reasons but if they did Turkey could defeat Iran, Iran has no naval power, it's air force is obsolete with old Soviet (Russian) and Chinese as well as Iranian copy technology and it's army is large and powerful but it would not be enough to beat Turkey. Turkey has the most powerful navy in the Middle East, second most advanced and powerful air force and its army is slightly smaller than Iran's but is very well trained, experienced

I wouldn't discount Iran's power. They are not Arabs who were willing to sell out to CIA spies, with bags of cash and promises of jobs in the U.S., like Saddam's high command did.
A large part of U.S. power is psy-ops. We put on a big show to make our end strength look stronger than it really is. If Saddam had earned the loyalty of his armed forces and Iraqis were willing to fight for their land and homes, the U.S. would have suffered a bloody beating instead of the easy made-for-TV invasion.
