  • OMG klf what amazing group. . A blast from the past bring them back

  • everybody chill the fuck out

3am eternal is one of the best pop songs ever written, and every mix has its own totally different and electrifying qualities. the 'commercial mix', especially the 12" is fucking fantastic, i've never heard a catchier dance tune and there ain't no better example of the klf's stadium house sound. the pure trance original is really moving with a totally different vibe. learn to revere the tune in all its forms, because it's excellent.

  • Incredible. I like hearing all the variant traditions of KLF songs. Mixes of What Time Is Love? are brilliant. I like the Guns of Mu Mu version of 3 AM Eternal. And the original version of Last Train To Trancentral, called ‘Go To Sleep’.

  • That does not even come close to the one in the album... This is just a daft daft disco shit....

  • I thought it was a 90s song

  • @elcesar999 No, the original "Pure Trance" version was meant to be released 31st October 1988, but wasn't actually released until 1989 (as stated by the 6robski8, the one who posted this video)

The one which became a hit was released in either late 1990 or early 1991.

I have gotten to prefer this version over the commercially successful one too!

  • @arglwyddanfradwrus thanks

  • @elcesar999 Well, thanks to 6robski8 for putting it up! :D

  • Is this version available on an official CD release?

  • sounds a bit like early shamen

  • The KLF released two discs containing bootlegs and sampled versions of 3am Eternal and What Time is Love. Anyone seen them up on here at all? I have them on vinyl and might get around to cutting and posting them if no one else has.

  • @johnsy5711 I'd certainly be interested to hear them, as would many others I'm sure. Send me the link if you upload. Peace.

  • @6robski8 and @ johnsy5711 Yes, please do "rip" them and post them, I would love to hear them!

  • @johnsy5711 nonono.. this is not the vinyl version...sorry :-)

  • My 1st time hearing it, ........... its perfect, lol like the other remix's.

    I really enjoy this version

  • Miss Ness. I have such shongs to shear you.

  • @SOWHATIMADEIT you talking shit bro...wtf? what are you drunk? or a robot trying to join in but does`nt really know what to type? Can someone explain please why sometimes there`s comments full of random shit that doesn`t make sense?

  • I have as much of their discography as I have been able to track down, and it Just Isn't Enough!!!

  • One off my first housetracks when i started too listen too it...thanks for helping me find it back!!

  • This version is better at 3 am.

  • I believe I was meant to have lived through this time as an adolescent well at least I am glad that I get find these tracks through the Youtube maze of AWESOME Tunes

  • This song is excellent.

  • OMG don't shut off all the lights in your room and put on full screen and get real close to the screen and watch all the way through.

  • I spent 22 years trying to find this on vinyle, found it and bought it, great great tune..

  • @vespaboy150150 respect to you! This is a blinding tune...

  • you can tell this is an earlier version

  • a classic

  • I actually really love both versions. When I first heard this I didn't like it honestly. It's not really as dancable as the other, but it grew on me as a song as opposed to a track you just pop in at retro theme parties. The vocalists have a lot of talent that get lost in the mix and there's more depth to it. Thanks for sharing!

  • @headwoundfairy I'll second that. Cheers, glad you're enjoying the tunes.

  • This version can be found on the unofficial White Room soundtrack CD. Essential for all KLF fans.

  • I did not know there was an "original" (of course there is always one). Great to hear it. Like the KLF.

  • K'd oot me face... 4am but close enough lol great tune

  • i like this trance version.....

i never heard this until today too.

    i think its so gooooood.thks 6robski8.

  • yeah its a gud tune-dont really care when it came out or if its the original or not...

  • I've always been a fan of the radio edit, and never heard this until today. It's good, but the chart version is more breakey and dancable in my opinion. This is chill out.

  • ??? I thought this WAS the original... Anyway, it's SMOOTH. Whether or not it IS the original.

  • real ravers, begining of the nowadays called tecno, trance, etc, etc, etc, good f.u.c.k.i.n.g.MOVEMENT,no money,no labels, pletty of love 4 music and principally 4people,TRAVELRS KEEP on RAVING

  • nice mix i like it better than the origional

  • i didnt know they came out in 88 i didnt hear m until 90. but this is the best version-and it says may 89 on here so were th fuck does 88 come from

  • @xpaulax08 It was originally scheduled for release 31st Oct 1988, but was delayed until early '89.. the tune was being played in '88 and like most tunes back then was already massive before it got an official release.

  • original or not?

    Its a fcukin CRACKER!

  • Comment removed

  • supi!!

  • chart version was dire but good for the moneymaking..prefer this tbh

  • Man where is the time when internet belong to us? Cant find any of the good klf stuff without paternalism!

  • Remix or orig, do you care? I don't. Shut up and listen, it's a good mix, whether original or remix.

It sure as hell captures the mood of "3am" much better than the more widely known mix.

  • Da Remix Thankx Bro

  • Not the original!

  • @carloslfc1892 can you prove that? No you can't.

    This is the original version.

Check out Discogs or any KLF discography.

  • @6robski8 This is not the original, the original can be found on Youtube: " 3 a m eternal (Complete) "

Both versions are truelly amazing though. Love

    xxx

  • the raver's people's is ALIVE! i'm alive!nice record's remember the rave's party's in europe in 90's WOW FANTASTIC!

  • The first time I heard this was a remixed version, and I thought it was awesome! I had no idea this was the original. Both are great, but the remixed version really gets my blood pumping! I seriously need to look into this group..

  • výborný zvuk na tie roky!

  • Wow, never heard this one before. But it totally beats the other versions.

This is music I can listen too at 3 am :)

  • Wow neat version, never heard this one before.

Its a nicer calmer version to listen to.

  • It's such a shame that they had to ruin this song to make it chart-friendly. That "London by night" section used to send shivers down my spine, and it did not feature at all in that awful rap version. This mix is, in my opinion, the ONLY mix.

  • Great memories.. Back to the late-80´s and early 90´s!!!

  • Начало моего техно понимания!!!!

  • Great upload! Five stars...

  • Love this version so much better without the accompanied rap chorus/lyrics. There is a similar trancy version just like this one but for "What Time is Love" in other words without the rapping. If anyone comes across it on here, please point.

  • I thought this was the demo version--there is a whole demo album of the White Room (unreleased as such, obviously).

  • it's 3am, i feel old but eternally young! 2009, back to the future!

  • Remember listening to this on my way to the Raigate (surrey) Phantasy rave. What a rave that was!!!

  • dont want to burst any bubbles a dont think this is the org eternal.the one i had was a pink cover with like 3 mixes this wasnt one pure trance was a green cover then the moody boys joined forces then mix afte mix make mine a99

  • It's ok you're not bursting any bubbles... you don't know what you're talkiing about lol. I should remember I was there back in the day and this was the tune... but you can always check out discographies and histories via Discogs to find out what release you have. Good luck.

  • @6robski8 Check'em all out, I'd say! :)

  • This IS the originally released version of 3 AM Eternal. The green "Pure Trance" (aka Pure Trance 1) you refer to is "What Time Is Love?"

The 'main' release had a black front cover with pink writing. The remix release's front cover had the inverse (black letters on pink background)

Pure Trance was the name given to a range of singles released by The KLF, though most never got released as scheduled (in fact, some never ended up got released!)

  • think you must have read the klf manual lol.i was also on the scene at the time, just curious what you listen to now and do you know of the more rare screamer and pet shop boys remixes shag times from the afore mentioned

  • @preddietor hi mate yes i have the pink cover version which i think had all the best mixes on class i hated all the mixes with the rap in it pink cover by far the best

  • I imagine this version would be very rare by now if anyone has on CD.

  • KLF cd's are very collectable and are increasing in value. The album White room is worth holding onto on CD.

  • @fudge987654321 Speaking of rare, I have the original promo 12" of, "Doctorin' The Tardis" by The Timelords (earlier KLF incarnation).

  • brilliant. very good. Relaxing..

  • Love it!

  • great song! So relaxing yet still trippy. Know how to get this as an mp3 file?

  • get download helper and lame mp3 encoder

  • Great mix! Hypnotic graphics, I didn't know things were this trancey already in '88! Must've been a revolution on the dancefloor. Really enjoyed : )

  • top mix i agree the later version ruined a very good track...theres kno skool like the OLD SKOOL imho ;)

  • super

  • Briilliant

  • Perfection exists!

  • Somebody here who saw them live on TV with Extreme Noise Terror performing this song??? :-)

  • Yes I saw them perform at The Brits with Extreme Noise Terror. The KLF have left the music business.

    "I died for you"

  • for *ewe ;)

  • This is like THE original first ever trance track...

  • It was the first progressive trance!!!Just imagine it!

  • I like it! The vocal is wonderfull..

  • Maybe this original version is better, its just the 91' redo was the first one I heard, so I prefer that ( it must be an imprinting thing ). The 1991 version was more commercial , though, with its use of rap vocals.

  • this is a more laid back version...its cool though

  • Is this real? Amazing! This is early Trance and I love it way better than the remix I was subjected to in the 90s. Thanks for posting this!

  • this is great to listen to aswell they dont play it on the radio TLS

  • this version sucks the 90s version is way better and dancier then this one.

  • I first heard this in a place called club 4 in widnes. but the version i heard had a sort of lapping waves intro (which seemed to go on for about 10 minutes in my altered state...) and then suddenly the thing kicked off with 'klf is gonna rock you' and the place exploded... anyone know what this mix is?

  • i'm replying to my own message.. how sad is that? i got it - the 'blue danube orbital' remix. well worth checking out.

  • The world NEED The KLF!!!!!!!!!

  • I remember when House / trance was the new thing back in the day. Reminds me of The Cayman Islands in 91 and Vancouver B.C in 1990.. I'm going to listen to some 808 state and Pragha Khan now... :)

  • Before i went raving these where the people ... Remember they burnt all the Profits £££££3

  • This is more MTV AMP'ish, which is a good thing. I like it. Not to mention, AMP was so not MTV. I miss those 2 in the morning weekdays...all blunted and assed out watching AMPs

  • 3 am Eternal? Anybody care to elucidate?

  • Well... you just had to be there, at that place at that time of night, you wouldn't want it to end.. and the memory is eternal.

More info..? Read the more info bit..

    Love and peace.

  • wow!

  • Great mix bass is perfect

  • FUCK ME! The fucking bollocks

  • sad person - u obviously have no idea that i paid a compliment thru my post comment on one of the greatest old skool house groups ever. red29black your e-mail made everyone laugh - thank u and grow up.

  • To be fair - british english is one of those languages where it's ... a bit hard to tell if any given sentence is a compliment or a grave insult. ;)

I haven't heard this version before (possibly because I was 5 in '88), but it's excellent; very different from the ones I have heard.

  • omg i used to dance to this in troll the underground club of heaven london. happy hazy days.scary where time has gone.

  • Still 3AM eternal ;)

  • makes me ashamed to love the remix

  • So atmospheric. A classic.

    Brilliant. Very evocative.

  • now thats a tune!!

  • u r spot on with that m8, much better than the 'one' I thought was my favourite KLF tune. 3AM Eternal is superb

  • wow if u were 28 when this song came out yer 48 now, gosh i guess life is short after all

  • tune!

  • wow..that version is in fact a better version

  • yeah...,

  • Wow what a difference. The tempo is much slower. Difficult to play in a club at that speed. I bought the cassette tape single back then.

  • I just thought that everyone would like to know that I've uploaded the LP mix (White Room) of "What Time is Love" And I've uploaded some other rare tracks :) /watch?v=mMr_lIg1z_c&feature=channel_page

  • this song is a good way to anoy your friends at 3am after a night of power chuging some kickass bruw

  • or make them re-live old glorys on the decks or dance floor. but from your response ill assume your friends are frat boys

  • This was the year i was Born im 20 o

  • I was 28 when this song came out...

  • With tears in my eyes....from partyzone into a sleeping human being...

  • i heard this in shoom on london. takes me right back. i'm forty now and still dj-ing because of tracks like this.

  • Same here bro, Im 35 an DJ. I mix this genre like crazy. Good bpm's to match almost anything. This era was at the height of DJism. It's comin' back a lil

  • I prefer the chart version had more punch! This is better for lying back out your face on whatever...

  • 50 is the new 20

  • This tune is so nice!

  • feel young again when i here the sound...

  • Walking home in the snow...from one Borough to another.

  • It's official. I am OLD.

  • ...but you are not alone... feel the same

  • nooooo...i'll never admit that fact

  • i wasnt even born when this song was made and i'm in college if that makes you feel any better.

  • i was born a short while after it came out =D

  • T_T a tear for the world.... i cant believe wot im reading. 3am to me is the pulse of the universe and the eternity of its night. There is an underground message of truth love and unity, the sort than doesnt serve hate with hate... sadly many sacrifices must b made to reach this goal. wots with the twisted individual in the comments below, surely this should b flagged and removed :(

  • !!!thank you!!!

  • Loveing the Bass!!! =) Its Super Bass lol

  • Great mix bass is perfect

  • Awsome song.

  • who's the women singer??

  • Maxine Harvey

  • This is actually the OST version from the White Room motion picture.

  • I think you're mistaken, this is from the original vinyl release.

  • Is you tryin to tell me it took 20 years for this video to find me? I must be some kind of neanderfuck

  • At least you 'discovered' it before you died, now your life was worth living LOL!!

  • This reminds me of ENIGMA style. This is of coarse long before them. I wonder did they copy this sound.

    Great song!

  • yup KLF and Enigma go hand in hand always have done in my mind

  • Awesome, the good old days

  • absolutely incredible bassline.

  • That was the "secret" of KLF, basically. When you listen to their songs, they all consist essentially of a killer baseline and ... well, not much else is needed for a good trance bit.

They actually 'admit' it in their book. :)

  • brillant.

  • I love it but don't like the way it stops and they say LONDON ... etc. That ruins the flow of the whole thing, IMHO. :( Other than that this is SO powerful. Can never get it out of my head.

  • I guess you'd probably prefer the Break 4 Love mix, much more dance-e :)

  • i think i prefer the white room mix last train to trancentral rocks come and join me for the ride still good song though!

  • This is top notch, cannot believe its 20 years old now, i feel old!!

  • Thanks for putting this one up. I hadn't heard the "Pure Trance" version of 3am Eternal before. These versions should have been included on "The White Room" album.

  • Man how time flyes. Those were the days.Back then u actually must be a real artist to be able to make music like this.Dont u agree?Peace all.

  • Great stuff. I'm gonna resist the urge to get nostalgic about this, and just enjoy it now!
