If anything, Santiago is one of the most underrated guitarists of all time. He has such a unique sound and style, people who try to replicate it only end up in tears from frustration. Joey is a beast.

@hdgmusic8 I'm not having any illusions about his ability as a guitarist, but he fits the band perfectly and in a way that no other player would. Of course I wouldn't call him bad, but he is not anything special.

I second that, I think person who says that Joey is a bad guitarist knows shit about music, his solos kick ass but he doesn't show off, Pixies isn't about being complex and playing hundred notes per second, they just make cool rock tunes, which aren't boring and Joey leaves space for other band members. He has his own style, he has good rhythm and he proved to the world that abrasive guitars can be also melodic. So how can it be that he is a bad guitarist? that's just retarded statement
