Foot Binding: first, the mother would have her daughter soak their feet in water an herbs OR animal blood and herbs to remove any dead skin. Then, they would cut the toenails as short as they possible could, which was very painful. Third, the mother would massage the feet and then break all toes, EXCEPT the big toe. She would then fold the part of the foot which were aligned with the 4 broken toes underneath to the bottom of the foot. It was then binded tightly and rebounded every 2 days. Right
This practice was a true part of Chinese tradition. In some remote areas, foot binding still happens. This was to make the feet look dainty and attractive to men with much money & appeared as if the foot binded woman was wealthy. Another reason for this is because it made women cripple and seem much weaker than the men.

Pretty same idea is, why women in our kind are going to the cosmetic surgeries, and wear make up.
