  • I want free medical. I pay over $300 a month , thats approx. $3600 a year for my families medical coverage. I'd love to pay a flat rate like half that and get free medical.

  • What does Franken know about healthcare? He didn't read the bill! What a hypocrite!

I would wager he knows even less about being a senator, especially considering that he wouldn't let John Thune speak.

  • Thune was correct. Franken is a corrupt tool of the Obama regime.

  • ok if the conservative 'fools' spent 8 yrs bankrupting the nation...what would you call what the liberals have done in only one year? (answer: tripled the national debt) How's that HOPE AND CHANGE working for you now? All I can HOPE for is CHANGE in November and beyond. Has anyone else noticed that liberals can't have an intelligent debate they ALWAYS resort to calling names (as above 'fools')and/or acting like school yard bullies (that's to cover up the fact that they have NO facts

  • America's messages have to be shared!! Do you back Barak Obama's new health care plan?? G0T0 my channel to discover precisely why Y0UR opinons means something !!

  • Right on Senator Franken!

  • Im from S. Dakota and Thune is a complete corporate tool. He was a textbook Bush lapdog during that unfortunate time. He shoulda been a magician cuz he can sure pull shit outta thin air.

  • Franken is the biggest joke ever played on Minnesota. I know bcause he is my Senator because of Acorns help which is under investigation b the State. He shames this State.

  • I love it! "We are entitled to our own opinions. We're not entitled to our own facts."

    Go, Al!

The GOP does not want to be confused by facts, though. Facts are troublesome for the GOP.

They would rather repeat, ad finitum, lies and half-truths.

"An eighty-three year retirement"-interesting. As a citizen, I would appreciate the facts at all times. We as a nation should demand them.

With facts, we as citizens are better prepared to make good judgments. Thanks, Al. You are all right!

  • @growknow

Obama's healthcare plan is toast !

Thanks to Ted Kennedy ! !

    Ha ha ha

Your days are numbered liberal parasite.

soon you will be fired from your gov. parasitic job, and you will have to work to support your lazy asses !

  • "behind closed doors"? The republicans were given their marching orders and marching goosestep they are. . .deliberately blocking every single thing that is offered by the Dems and coming up with nothing of their own.

  • The republicans simply have different ideologies. That is what makes them republicans, not democrats. That is how the system works. If the democrats would give up their ideologies and do what the republicans believe is right, would that not help them get things passed? You wouldn't like that though, would you? So which side is it that should give up their beliefs?

If there is no middle ground to be had, then maybe what they are attempting to do is not the right thing.

  • There is middle ground to be had. But the Republican leadership has issued their marching orders. . .stall and oppose anything the President wants or we will not support you in your re-election. Now THAT is simply FACT.

  • Based on this health care bill, I would have to say they are doing the right thing then. If the republicans were in power and the democrats opposed an issue, would you prefer they roll over and let the republicans do it how they want to? I don't think so.

The republicans want to make it easier to sell insurance across state lines. Democrats only ridicule when that is brought up. How is that working across the aisle?

  • the dems put in a modified version of selling across state lines, they dumped the public option, they put in the tax breaks for small businesses. for that, they got no repub support.

it comes down to this. one side wants a bill, the other side doesn't. there is no compromise between those positions.

at the summit, repubs who think medicare should be abolished were invited, yet there was no discussion of single-payer. which idea do you think has more support in this country?

  • This bill is a job killer...kill the bill.

  • great job stuart smalley

  • @ SDS4BO "Conservative" fools spent 8 years bankrupting the nation.

  • @DorEnErnil

If those were really conservatives you'd have a point.

  • THANK YOU DorEnErnil for telling sds4bo a fact! this fucking clown must get his misinformation from fixed news!!!!!!!! he must wear panties as I thought only woman have no reason or accountability. I guess the whole damn party is a bunch of women!

  • yes, and obama the next four! both are the same . . special interest . . i only find conservatives more offensive, they knew better!

  • @DorEnErnil You mean 6 years don't you? Who took control of congress in 2007 and who has had control of congress since then?

  • @DorEnErnil Well the Democrats had control of both houses starting in 2006. Just remember the President can not spend any money without getting it approved by the Senate and the House of Reps. Every budget that was submitted by Bush was increased by the Democrat controlled congress. There is plenty of blame to go around for the state of our economy. Until we get all of the spending hungry idiots out of Washington we will never get out of this hole.

  • @DorEnErnil, NO not 8 years. If you rememberd the DotCom bubble popping like pimple on a teen-ager plus the added 9-11 augmentation of the recession, Bush's tax cut brought us out of it. the economy did well, up until 2007 when the House & Senate fell to the democrats. Don't believe the smoke and mirrors of the democrats.

In addition, Al Franken likes gerbils inside of his person.

  • These liberal fools are bankrupting the country.

  • Gee are they? Thanks for having details to back up your stupid misinformed comment jackass. T

  • Here's the details - the unfunded liabilities of the US balance sheet is currently over 105 trillion dollars. Our annual budget is over 12 trillion. The GDP of the whole world is 55 trillion. So let me spell this out for you - each American owes more than 350 thousand dollars, and the current bunch of bozos in Congress are spilling red ink faster than ever before. The true unemployment rate is almost 17 percent, and there is no end in sight. Happy Liberal New World Order - owned by China.

  • Oh ok asshole its all the fault of liberals??? Yeah drink some more right wing kool aid you dumb fuck! John Thune is goddamn corporate mouthpiece nit wit! Franken put that little bitch in his place! Another thing asshole we wouldnt be so fucked if wasnt for 36 of the last 48 years of republican presidents! So sick of ignorant misinformed assholes like you who actully think you are part of the repucklican country club. Sorry to tell you dipshit YOU'RE NOT! owned by china thank the GOP! SHITHEAD!

  • IT's all the fault of Republican and Democrat liberals, yes. Thanks for helping me clarify that. How do Democrats justify loony behavior by pointing to Republican loony behavior? They both belong in the asylum, along with their followers. Time to restore some sanity to the US and get rid of all the dimwit politicians and their greedy followers who want nothing less than to steal all the wealth of this great nation for their own selfish pursuits.

  • YES now we are on the same page!

  • @scottsway Do you even know what a liberal is? Don't confuse liberal with Democrat. A liberal wants to make sure you don't have freedom of speach while he is allowed to voice his opinion. A liberal doesn't want you to carry a gun, but he has armed guards. A liberal doesn't want you to own an SUV, but it's okay for him to fly to anywhere in the world on his private jet.

If we had TRUE conservatives (not Republicans) working FOR the people, this country would be FAR better off.

  • I dont agree with Obama on many topics but the guy is working his ass off. His fucking hair has turned grey in one year..but I still dont want to pay for health care for crack heads, and artist/musicians that want to live the dream on my dime..I have had health care since 18 years old but I stocked shelves in a factory to do it

  • @tumpaijohn - stocking shelves in a factory doesn't get you health care anymore.

  • That is not true my friend. I just called 3 of my clients today and asked if their entry level folks get Health care, answer yes. One company said after 90 days. My company also hires folks and gives health care after 90 days. Only requirements, Drug test (no drug test for welfare), Drivers license, high school diploma. We work hard though. Some folks dont like that. What industry are you in since you know so much???? Liberal arts or education???

  • Sorry, my friend, but I don't believe you. On the internet, anyone can be Bill Gates. In the real world, Wal-mart may offer "health care" but with deductibles and co-pays that make it worthless to shelfstockers. If your "clients" are generous, good for them but they are at an economic disadvantage compared to their competitors. That's why America needs universal health care to rebuild. I laughed long and loud at your angry question about liberal arts majors. Rage on!

  • Oh man, If you got rage out of that reply you have never had a hard day my friend. That was smart ass, not rage. I am for health care reform. But the back room deals and pork that is coming down the pipe is scary.

  • Did you notice that Oboma preached sticking it to the insurance and drug companies but all they plan to do is cut coverage? They already miraculously decided to come up with new standards for breast cancer reform. They dont even want women to self exam, or receive mammograms until 40, not what the American Cancer Society recommends. I have known 3 women with breast cancer in my life all under 40.

  • By the way there are a lot of other companies besides Wal-Mart. I started out entry level, with health care now I am a project manager and make more money than friends that went to school for 8 years. The sad fact is, that some people are just not willing to work this type of job.

  • mindless assholes like you are bankrupting us by misinforming the country. You wouldnt know a fact if it hit you in face asshole! Whats the matter cant handle the truth that franken states?? I know the truth is hard to handle. Repucklicans win by lying and getting dipshits like you to buy into their shit!

  • Judgment Day on May 21, 2011 as recently revealed in Bible. Details on linked website. NO church connection.

    Health care irrelevant soon.

  • Talking and thinking as an European my belief is that an HONEST US senate should be sitting on the floor sharpening stakes to put up the asses of health insurance executives for their crimes. Not coming up with all this crap. Yes, it is a lot better than what we had but it is still a nothing compared with what needs doing.

Franken is trying, though. Effectively, I hope.

  • Allow all 50 States to compete with eachother (people in Texas can buy insurance from Washington), and reform Tort. THAT'S HOW YOU FIX THE HEALTHCARE.

We don't need to become Europe!

For those who support this: Want to tell me why your "leaders" won't use this new healthcare?

  • At least Franken didn't tackle THIS dude from behind. The fat, unfunny, cowardly bastard.

  • "Defy reason"... so you want people living in the streets?!?!

  • Heres a note to all socialist liberals. Move to Norway, or China. Have fun in your mediocre eutopia and send me a postcard.

  • Being a liberal =/= being a socialist. Just thought I'd throw that out there since I hear that stereotype on a daily basis.

  • So far all of the replies I've received are typical liberal statements. They want to take from the business man working man and force us to give others. That is not in the constitution. We should have the opportunity to choose to give, not have it dictated to us.

  • Franken is a liar and worse, he was never funny.

Big government is not what the people want. The town hall meetings made that clear. If they do not get it too bad, they will get it in 2010.

Mary Jo Kopechne is the first recipient of Kennedy care. I cry for her not that slob.

  • @CupOfSuckItUp Nope. Franken has the truth on his side, as the video above shows. Your beloved town hall yellers were initially stocked with insurance company employees and GOP operatives. Then the Fox news zombies followed. Luckily for America, we are not all stupid victims of propaganda. Some of us have critical thinking skills.

  • It is a scam. You pay for four years then 99% of the benifits kick in. Franken is pointing to the 1% that is immediate.

You need to watch the end and follow up with the facts.

  • Dude, then move to England where the tax rate is 56%. You cannot please everybody, that's a definate known FACT! We must pay to play.

  • We shouldn't have to move for what is right. I'm employed, I pay my insurance, and I'm tired of being riped off. It's one thing for my cell phone, but when you're dealing with people's well being a non profit option is a must.

  • the thing is... if you have or can get most of your basic needs (Health and Education if u ask me) what ever money you have gained out side of the tax is for you to use however u like... agreed 56% is huge... and there is a need to find a real middle ground but if at least 99.9% of that 56% goes totally to what it's meant to (health care, education whatever) then it's worth it.. (still if implemented correctly

  • What's funny is when average citizens call people who want affordable health care lazy but never their congressmen when they choose lower cost health care.

I mean don't people know that senators pay a 3rd of what the average citizen pays and has access to multiple options?

The USA is ranked 35th in health care when compared with other countries, the reason its a striking figure is that usa is rich.

If Peru can cut costs and increase quality why can't we?

  • Not for cancer.

We have high crime and a death rate of our young that exceeds other nations that is what tips the scale. We also drive faster and farther in our cars.

  • CupOfSuckItUp - neither our crime rate nor auto accidents make up our shorter life expectancy. How many murders do you think we have anyway, in a nation of 300 million?

  • News Flash: We spend 621 billion on a Military budget every year. china 55 billion, russia 45 billion, in fact of the top 10, 8 are allies, and the top 10 spend 500 billion total. in fact we spend more than the whole world combined. WHY? News flash/Question : are we the only country that didn't get the memo. "The Cold War is Over, We WON" ?

The Questions above are asked by a conservative! Trust me i do not think democrats get it any better!

  • What do we spend on health and human services now?

This bill will be 5X that.

  • merry freaking christmas, it's not enough i have to pay for my own health care. now i have to pay for the bums health care too.

  • @skimboardmonster I have news for you. You are paying for "the bums" healthcare now, and you have been for the past 20 years. Who do you think pays when a poor person shows up at the ER? You do, via your taxes. At least the Democrats are trying to lower all of our costs by trying to fix the health of those before they are critically ill and show up at the ER, costing us all 5 times what it should.

  • jensen, That is like saying to a child "Well son, you have been stealing from that store for years. But don't worry, you are not in trouble. We are going to make everything o.k. by allowing you to take what you need. Don't worry, the store owner has plenty of money. If you need something, just go ahead and grab it. We will take the money from your neighbors and pay the store owner what we believe it was worth."

  • So that makes it OK to raise our taxes and costs of health care even more.

  • Al Franken needs to have his head taken off. Literally.

  • Thune is technically correct...that is why when franken realized it, franken apologized to thune in private

  • I guess I must have missed that part. Care to link us to a legitimate article or statement?

  • What? no link to an apology "in private"? And why wouldn't Thune announce the apology, instead of standing there getting verbally slapped by Franken?

  • I love it when Americans who have never traveled out of the country bash other health care systems they haven't tried. Worry about domestic issues.

Its funny how statement like " Health care for all" produces hatred in a country that needs it.

  • @pressplayagain amen. i'm an american who is extremely disillusioned with our current system. i visit toronto a lot and once was stricken with tonsillitis while there. i rec'd great treatment at the hospital FOR FREE. guess what? no long lines, no people dying in the hallways. competent and efficient service. don't believe the hype.

  • You were very lucky, my aunt needs to come here for health care because Canada won't provide the treatment. No government run program ever works. Businesses thrive when government stays out of the way, then businesses can hire.

  • well that's where we see things differently.

i don't think health care should be a 'business'. i believe that some things are important enough to trump the profit motive. America is the richest country in the world. What's the point of being that rich if you're not going to use that money and power to provide basic health services for your citizens? it's quite literally the least you can do.

  • Actually, some of the American people are rich but our county is broke. In fact we owe trillions of dollars to banks and other countries. FWI

  • also, most gov't run systems DO work.

check the stats...america spends the most on health care, yet our service is ranked at about 30th. clearly, something is not working. plenty of gov't run systems work. the police and fire depts immediately spring to mind.

  • Yes but, No country has an efficiently run government health care system. All European countries and Canada have great benefits at a tremendous cost. My brother lives in Norway, he loves the health and welfare benefits. Long maternity leave, cash for being out of work with injuries, ect. But he cant afford to eat out, or buy a cold beer after work.

  • Good point. I guess it's a 'weigh your options' kinda game. by the way, thanks for being civil and engaging in a dialogue. we don't need to agree, but it's nice when you can have a debate without mudslinging and name-calling. understanding the other person is more important than agreeing with them.

  • Yah man, nobody will hear me if I begin dialog in an angered fashion. Besides, I am a middle of the road kind of guy. I tend to be a fiscal conservative. I was totally disillusioned with the last administration. The republicans point is small government. But thats not what happened. We had the suspension of civil liberties, and the creation of a huge security info-structure (homeland security, privet military & construction projects and TWIX among others)

  • anyway I, would rather have help for the poor in the form of health care rather than these huge contracts being rewarded to the mega-rich multinational corporations. But I dont feel that the bill presently in front of congress will do that. The only real costs they want to fix are the benefits, like recommending the reduction of breast cancer screenings to 40+ years of age, not overhead or the insurance companies profits.

  • @tumpaijohn Unfortunately you are right.

  • The only real costs they want to fix are the benefits, like recommending the reduction of breast cancer screenings to 40+ years of age, not overhead or the insurance companies profits. Again, the talk was good but in the end it will all be in the middle class taking the brunt of it and bigger government.

Thanks for taking the time to be civil as well. Happy new year.

  • @tumpaijohn Here he can afford to buy his beer and eat out while he waits to die. Or waits until he gets sick and has to sell his house to pay for the bill.

  • Yes, but he has a hot Norwegian wife, So. By the way my brother served his country in the USMC 4 years in case anybody has any smart ass socialist comments to throw out.

  • Go Franken and Brown!

  • Utube & GI - "Ouch!" Larry, your comment is correct. We should also measure Western Euro's BMI's & check out health correlations with the U.S.

UTube Compatriots: Unite to solve "the problem" constructively.

Soldiers are dying, elders are dying, we are dying. Look around you. Stand together. No need for insults - counter productive.

Consider - What if the Senate and House and SC went with out health care (families included) until all Americans fair and equitable and affordable options.

  • Keep the insults, I didn't insult you, UTubekook. Read my post. I never said France and I never said free and universal. Most of Western Europe, Taiwan and Canada have single payer systems. But, hey maybe you're right! Let's cut ALL taxes and see what happens.

  • All other Western, industrializied nations have invested in thier citizens through health care, education, as well as infastructure. They are passing this nation up in most standards of living, in energy independence and quality of life standards.

  • LARRY, have you been drinking? Are you suggesting for example that France has free and universal health care coverage?

  • Health Care is not the real issue. Research "Fiat Currency" "Fractional reserve banking" and last but not least... THE FEDERAL RESERVE!!!!

  • Franken in the nude? The mind boggles. Then it pukes.

  • We need to shrink government as much as possible. This health bill adds another nail to the coffin of our liberty.

  • i'd beleive this if it weren't for the fact that the far right wing is just as in favor of gov't intervention as the left. just for different reasons. having the gov't tell you who you can marry, if you can have an abortion, or which drugs you're allowed to consume is not the definition of 'shrinking' gov't.

  • Hear Hear!

  • Both sides are useless. Fuck Franken and fuck Thune. At the end of the day they sell you out and blame each other while high fiving each other behind their backs.

  • gj franken

  • REPUBLCANS ARE SO BRAIN WASHED.

  • Franken is a Fool, who stole an election. He hasn't read the bill. Bottom line is the taxes start in January and the programs affect us in 2014. I read the bill! Who else here has read it?

  • senator brown shows the hypocracy of the rep party

  • al franken=truth teller

    republicans bought off

cannot wiat for the end of the repblican party and religion, both are cancerous

  • It is sad to say, but they are all bought off. Sorry, but your democratic buddies are just as paid for as the republicans. We are all suffering due to their new found wealth. We are fighting amongst ourselves, and as long as we do, they will be happy. These current democrats are not the democrats of old. Same with the republicans. We need to start voting locally and getting people involved that fight for the needs of their fellow citizens. States need to start standing up for themselves.

  • Oh yeah, & don't forget:

We need to give our money to wealthy! Don't you realize that our money will "Trickle down to the poor!"

Has never happened. The "trickle down" theory has proven a collosal failure.

That is un less your trying to buy your 5th yacht!

Wake up you tools!!! Can't you see who your in bed with?!!!

  • Your right, trickle down sucks, try asking the poor for a job. They do not provide one. Yet, there are people that need to build the yacht, sell the yacht, fix the yacht, store the yacht, maintain the yacht, etc... How many jobs has that yacht provided. Why are you always looking for money to be handed to you? Trickle down does not mean given, it means earned. When will you learn, nothing is free???

  • gerfunked wrote: "Why are you always looking for money to be handed to you? Trickle down does not mean given, it means earned."

We've had nearly three decades of "trickle down" and the middle class is literally disappearing; it doesn't work. Powerful corporations control our government, outright crush any smaller competition, stifle so many advancements it's not funny, and 98% of Americans are underrepresented in govmt. because of the rich, sounds unconstitutional.

  • Actually, I wouldn't say we are underrepresented, so much as sold out. I personally believe that large corporations are as corrupt as large government. I think it is obvious these days that they are pretty much business partners. Our representatives get elected, pack their bags, head to Washington, and wine and dine with the lobbyists. They forget where they come from, and when they return, they beg for votes with all the money they bargained for their states special projects.

  • Although, in order to keep our freedom, we must maintain our ability to trade freely. Our government is supposed to make sure that ability is not inhibited in any way. When the business gets in to bed with govt to help create regulations that only large corporations can adhere too, small businesses start going away. Yes, trickle down from large corrupt corporations is bad, but we must rid what is wrong, and promote what is right. Capitalism is not big business, it is the right to free trade.

  • Just because someone gets rich from working hard and creating a successful business does not make them evil. There are a lot of successful rich people that run good businesses and employ lots of succesful people. How quickly we throw them in with G.E, Citibank, Chase, Freddie, Fannie, Goldman, etc...

Business has motive to create better products and treat employees well, governments only reasoning is fairness. Everyone treated equally well, or equally poor. You don't have a choice with govt.

  • hey you idiot people who work for there money should be able to keep some not let liars like franken spend it wake up moron

  • Think about it the GOPers believe: -Govt? regulation is bad, -The ACLU is trying to take away our freedoms, -Tree huggers are stupid, -The EPA is destroying business, -Unions are all corupt, -Trial lawyers (who fight Corporate greed and power) are destroying the nation, -Protesters are WACKOS, -Making the wealthy pay their fair share in taxes is just mean -The educated are "Elitists" etc. etc. WAKE UP! Who benefits from all these manufactured beliefs? Corporate America you TOOLS!
  • You are right, the wealthy do not pay there fair share, they pay a hell of a lot more and use a hell of a lot less. Since when is paying more and using less fair?

  • I guess your real problem is this......Sociopathy. You consider a perfect society to be comprised of people getting out exactly what they put in.

That's called a nation of one. You do believe in the notion of 'country' do you not? If so, you have to consider the "OTHER"!

You people don't want to contribute to the greater good. You suffer from the delusion that everything you have grossed in our society should be yours.

You think your self made men................your not.

  • Your life has been subsidized from birth by our Great Nation. The very stability and security we live under is not free. Its been paid for by more than just our soldiers blood, but also by both Liberal and Conservative, And by generations of hard working, tax -paying, Democrats and Republicans before you.

You people are so paranoid that someone is getting a free lunch!

You, not wanting to contribute, are the real 'free lunchers'!

  • kat74n1,

First off, I never said I am against paying taxes. I understand that in order to coexist, there needs to be some sort of central structure, and that structure does require funding. But don't you think that if we ALL contributed, the overall burden would be less on everyone?

Would you prefer those CEO's quit and take $20 a day from you and your neighbors to pay there way through life, or start a company and pay you a living wage?

  • al franken you dont qualify to be a janitor let alone a u.s. senator, and even if you did you would have to steal the job anyway.

hey you dems dont have a clue wants in the bill. if its so good why wasnt it read in full like the reps. wanted to do. this is my idea all bills should be read in full out loud, and if your not there to listen to it in full then you cant vote period.

this is called common sence and you dems. dont have a clue what that is!!!!

  • Learn to spell Idiot! And by the way, reading it out loud is only a stall tactic , a de facto form of fillibustering, but of course Republicans always enjoy blocking justice and progress.

A far cry from the support Georgie Bush got from the Democrats when they were in the minority.

  • Comment removed

  • Your such a republican tool...

  • I love Al Franken!!

  • Fraken just made Thune his bitch. Win.

  • It's funny how they always say "my republican/democrat friends" or "my good colleague" when they clearly cant stand each other lol

  • I believe they are much more friendly behind the curtains than they would let you believe.

  • You're probably right.

  • These guys, many of them, almost all, have no health care experience, NONE. They don't understand the foundations of running a hospital or a health care setting

  • Not only do they have no health care experience, they have no "real world experience" of any kind. Almost none have ever held a productive job, much less created one. They don't understand the foundations of paying (rather than creating) a bill.

  • attention: anyone who doesn't agree with me is an idiot.

    carry on.

  • AreThereNoMoreNames,

    Nothing from Nothing leaves Nothing.

That is why you say things like that.

If you had something you would fell the same way. Maybe I should start an Independence movement in your country and see what it gets you.

  • Here's an unasked and unanswered question of the most pertinent nature...Just how in hell does it promote BETTER Health Care to have all these layers of bureaucrats, private or public, involved when THEY do nothing but talk & shuffle paper? They get paid and we get to pay them but we don't get better services, do we? Peace.

  • really

    really

    boring

    lousy

    channel

  • I wish we had more Franken's in Washington. Hearing/watching about [olitics wouldn't make me rage so often.

  • so many of these SOB are bought by the corporations and are not ashamed and don't care if u know or not but still push the corporate agenda and lies

  • I must say Senator Al Franken is a breathe of fresh air. Did you see the old corrupt Senators Liberman and McCain, when Senator Franken did not give extra time to speak. Now thats Al Franken is the change we need in USS Enterprise.

  • I'm sorry but just because you have a good paying job and don't have to get help from the government programs does not mean that you work harder than poor people, it just means that you were able to afford a better education.

  • I have a good paying job with a community college education. That is an education attainable by anyone that is willing to work for it.

  • McCain is an asshole with that whole I been here 20 years and never saw anyone cut off..LOL..BUllshit..HE CUT SOMEONE off the exact same way..see CNN for the video. He is a douche, and a liar and there is video to prove it, but the republitards believe anything they are told...uh-oh look out..I think I see a death panel coming..LOL..BUFFOONS!!

  • once again americans will take it up the rear like or not !

  • Wow...that's some "challenge", should read franken's a "dribbling idiot" If ya think H.C's expensive wait till it's "Free"

  • This is republican propaganda.

The bill covers the ones entitled to these benefits.

  • What entitles one person to take the fruits of another persons labor?

  • lol you fucking communist

  • I have a funny feeling you don't know just what that word means.

In the Marxist sense, communism is a free, classless, stateless and oppression-free society where people make the decision on production. That's not really possible. So, enter real-world communism, where the government makes that decision for the people. That's exactly not what I am. Nor am I socialist enough to want to take money from those who've earned it and redistribute it amongst those who haven't.

  • I am a villager not a community,

    those census takers dont count

    Choctaw People...since we are villagers.

  • @Choctawu

I was replying to AreThereNoMoreNames, actually.

He cited the fundamental tenet of Marxism ...

  • u got any openings in ur village ?

  • @AreThereNoMoreNames Being a citizen of this country entitles you to receive benefits of tax dollars. Just like you and every other fucking person who lives as a citizen. You want to destroy this? Fine, you and your "hard working americans" can go drive your cars on your own private built roads. You can call your own private police and fire services, and protect yourself with your own private army, navy, and airforce. Oh you dont? Then why don't you refund the money you've taken from those

  • @AreThereNoMoreNames That's how the fucking system works. Everyone pays into it, and EVERYONE deserves to use the services that we elect our representatives to choose for us.

  • @TheRoomy

Unfortunately, that is not true. Everyone does not pay in to it, and everyone is not entitled to all the benefits.

The poor do not pay in, in fact they end up with a net gain. They get food and housing allowances to mention a few. The rich are not afforded those allowances, they are discriminated against for working harder and earning extra money. Albeit, they do not require those allowances, they can afford them on their own. So you could say, they get a much smaller

  • return on their investment than the poor do. As far as the roads go, they benefit all of us, even those with out vehicles via transporation of goods. Yet there is no discrimination of who uses the roads. It makes no difference how large or small our paychecks are. Same with police, fire department, and military. They protect and defend us all equally. I have always

  • said, I am happy to help out with those that can't do for themselves. But it irritates the heck out of me to continually give to those who refuse to do for themselves.

  • @gerfunked

Same old "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" bullshit.

The playing field is not equal for everyone, some libertarians seem to think that you're at the bottom of the ladder when you start college, which is ludicrous.

You are at the bottom of the ladder when your mom is severely ill and she can't get insurance because of her pre-existing conditions, and you have to take on two or three minimum wage jobs just for your family to survive.

This bill takes care of some of that problem.

  • Fact of the matter is, over 21 million Americans (a low estimate) will be covered if this bill passes, and insurance companies will have some much needed regulation imposed on them.

It's funny how Palin can go on about death panels when the real ones are in the hands of the insurance companies; they have teams that go through your application in the hopes you've made a mistake or neglected to mention a pre-existing condition. They will terminate the contract (and you) if you actually get sick.

  • @PaonSol - You are right there. The playing field is not equal for everyone, and never will be. You can wait on government to make life better for you, but will never reach anything better than sub par conditions at best.

As I stated in my last post, I am happy to help those who can not. Sounds like the mom in your story is there. But dammit, why does everyone deserve free health care. Health care for the typical person is affordable when the system is not being bastardized.

  • I am sick of seeing people complain about how expensive health care is, yet they don't complain about the cable T.V. bills, the price of an X-Box, or the games that go with them. They can't live with out cell phones, computers, or the internet. In life, we need to sacrifice a few of the benefits to work up to the perks. I have, I went most of my childhood with out many perks. I have worked hard to earn what I have. I don't live a lavish life, but I live well.

  • While it certainly revolves around the price of health care, the main issue is the fact that insurance companies will kill you if they can.

The incentives in Norway and other first-world nations are designed to provide excellent care to as many people as possible, cheaply and efficiently no matter what their health status. In contrast you have the perverse US system in which the incentives are to deny care and only sign on the healthy.

Your system is utterly retarded and you need this bill.

  • The bill is certainly not perfect by any means, but it is imperative that it gets passed soon; it is much easier to refine and shape the bill into something better than it is to try and pass it later. That said, what it will accomplish is an amazing upgrade to the status quo.

The fact is, the American people desperately need a health care reform, you are way behind the entire rest of the civilized first-world nations on this and America should be embarrassed.

  • First of all, the fact that it will never be completely equal is not a reason to stop striving for it.

Second, sub par conditions at best is an odd statement that is also wrong. Here in Norway you can literally not work a single day of your life and your standard of living will be better than almost anywhere in America.

Yet, with such a powerful social net, what is the unemployment here, you may wonder?

It peaked last year after a spike which caused it to go up to... 1.8 percent. Check mate.

  • The thing is that Norwegian people realize that high taxes are necessary for creating a high standard of living for everyone.

When you are in a tough situation and someone helps you out of it, chances are that much higher you will start contributing to society as well; Norway is proof positive of this.

There'll always be people who are a drain on society; you have to ignore the ones abusing the system, all the while the drug addled and criminal people will in the process be less desperate.

  • @ PaonSol - I do not have any problem striving to improve the system. But when the rules that are in place are not being enforced, or promote bad behavior, you have to either start enforcing, correct, or abolish them. When someone walks in to a welfare office here in the U.S., it is very limited what you can ask of them. The system is very easily worked over, and it happens a lot. We have removed most the stigma that goes with living off the system. Some people think it is a way of life now.

  • There is something different in Norway keeping the people productive that does't exist here. You can go your whole life in Norway without working and live well because most people are pulling their weight. Not the case here. Since an increasing number is starting to use the benefits of the system, more of our wealth is sqaundered on those that do not produce. What I would like to see is the system corrected to promote good behavior, and disuade bad behavior. Right now it is quite the opposite.

  • @PaonSol NOREWAY! Your country is beautiful!

  • @TheLahtis

Thanks, the fjords should be experienced.

There is some amazing nature here if you know where to look. :)

  • @PaonSol Haha that is what I was thinking.. the Fjords :D

Tak ( or ) Takk.. what ever you use :P I only know Danish when it comes to THAT style of Nordic :P

  • @PaonSol and who wil pay for this? america is in debt :P

  • America is not actually as broke as it may seem, but yes it is in debt, it owes almost 30 billion to Norway for example.

America is quite capable of stabilizing itself if the monstrous expenditure is toned down; Bush Jr left Obama with a war that is surrealistically costly.

I'm grateful that the US is taking an interest in policing the world in some respects, but on the other hand at some point you have to draw a line. Their military budget is near half of the entire world's military budget.

  • @PaonSol Bush Bush Bush.. everyone forgets what Obama has done ??

Obama fixes it by spending more than every US president combines.. and it only takes him a few weeks !!

  • You are lying.

  • That's precisely the problem I have with it. The way it's set up now, not everyone pays for it, and not everyone uses it. Oftentimes, the ones that pay the most are the ones who get to use it the least. The ones who don't pay for it are the ones who depend on it, who force themselves on the system and become dependent for life on it.

We're turning more and more into a system where the harder you work, the less of your own income you get to keep, not working somehow entitles you to a handout.

  • Can you tell me what institution Mr. Thune, created?

Why are you even in this country and making decision which never gave me, a Choctaw anything. Rather you have illegally acquisition land and lied about trust land accounts. So ask me that question again?

  • You're bullshitting me and yourself here. I never legally acquired land. The idea that descendants are, for some reason, entitled to take from everyone else due to their heritage or something. Hailing from Luxembourg, I don't complain that Germany, France, or Belgum owes me anything. What I make of myself has nothing to do with my ancestry, but rather, what I do, with myself, now.

  • Superior force combined with inferior morals.

  • They either need to take out all of Lieberman's amendments and put a public option back in, or they need to kill this bill. The mandates are ridiculous, and I can't believe anyone is taking this bill seriously in its current form. It's riddled with loopholes and wasteful spending.

  • The senate is made stronger with Al Franken's presence.

  • The bill will pass most republicans pretend they are against it but they are for it. The banking elites wrote this bill. Atleast after it passes Americans will realize they were fooled.
