lol what a sound so nice .. never heared a sound like after my old vinyls .. I think we need some new stuff ind this genre .. pretty nice and big respect for this peace of music .. !!!
Great! Looking into getting a qy100. It's a sequencer right? Does it act as a mixer? I've heard it has around 24 sequencing tracks. Idk much about it. Is there something cheaper? Better!?
Great job 5*. Does that mean I can just plug this into my Fantom X keyboard and play it like a Tyros that has automatic accompaniment? Will it automatically provide background rhythms that can make you sound like a one man band? My FantomX has a built in sequencer but kind of tedious to put together rhythms. Have been using limited onboard presets till now. Was considering something like the QY 100 or going the computer software route for background accompaniment. Any advice? Thx
@od7m25z9 Sounds great. Are there a lot of preset full rhythm patterns to play along with to start, or do all the patterns have to be composed and sequenced first and put into the memory of the QY? Thx for your helpful comments and demos.
@od7m25z9 Thanks. I had been considering using something like a rhythm machine/beat box like a Roland Groovebox but I don't think it would integrate as well with a keyboard, not sure. Other than size and portability, do you have any thoughts about how the older QY300 compares to the QY100? In one way, because of its larger size, the QY300 looks almost easier to play with the bigger buttons and all. Don't know if it would synch with a keyboard though. QY100 is probably best way to go.
I don't know QY300 properties. I usually use external midi-keyboards with QY100. QY100 own keyboard is usable with external keyboard then i can play bass notes with QY100 keys and chords/melody via external keyboard. Sustain pedal is also great when i use Korg microKontrol (as ext keyboard) to make psycedelic soundscapes (using filters, portamento etc...)
@od7m25z9 Got my QY100. Trying 2 get accompaniments to follow my keyboard playing w/left hand to make my keyboard perform like a Tyros arranger-type keyboard. I have the QY earphone out cable going into my keyboard audio-in jack and playing through the keyboards amplified monitors . I have my keyboard midi out cable to the QY midi in. QY setting Midi Sync=External, QYMidi Control=In. No Good. Settings correct? Am I supposed to add a 2nd midi cable going from QY out to keyboard midi in? Thx
Press "menu"-button -> select "Utility" -> press "menu"-button again -> select "Fingered Zone" -> make FINGERED "ON" and select correct MIDI-channel or "All".
Press "EXIT"-button and make sure that FNGR is "ON" and desired style is selected.
Press play-button. Green beat LED start blinks when MIDI-clock is received from your keyboard. If not, try change MIDI-sync to internal and check your keyboard MIDI-clock settings (ensure that MIDI-sync/clock are transmitted).
The sound is great! So does the QY respond to the keys played on the Korg?

@XYtoTheDoubleG Yes, if chord MIDI IN channel is defined correctly (and chord mode is on).

Yes. QY100 using MIDI CH16 by default for chords. QY100 also support bass+chord type inputs. I suggest to use splitted keyboard, own CH for chords.
Live playing is fun because is possibly to play rapidly very short duration chords ;)
(Chord recording support only minimum 1 chord per beat with 1/8 or 1/16 shifting.)

This is really good. Do you like the sounds on the Yamaha Qy100? Are there many sythesizer sounds on it?

How does the qy-100 work?
Carlo1Brito 2 years ago
QY-100 listens chords from microKORG (MIDI-CH16) .
QY-100 using external MIDI-clock (from microKORG) to sync with arppeggiator.
