I had the 1st Longhaired Redneck album in 74 or so and I can still remember every damn word of it. He was the Biker Jerry Jeff. He ate a watermelon with me and my friends Joe and Lindy on the floor down front at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa While Willis Allen Ramsey was playing that same year. good job using an ML i play in a country band and every body we tour with carries a tele or a strat. i have nothing against either one of those but you should see the look on those peoples faces when i strut out onto the stage with a Dean '79 ML. they cant belive it's a guitar! XD stupid rednecks.

I don't believe he names drops Cash, Waylon and Willy because he believes is equal to them or to elevate himself. I can't speak to his true motivation, obviously. But, from an artistic perspective the names he drops evokes a feeling and a perspective that is indeed the purpose of the song. David is who he is, and he knows who he is and doesn't pretend to be anything else. And in fact that is what is appealing about him. This song is incredibly compelling to me as is his performance.

@haleysdad07 He doesn't "drop" those names. those are his friends. He wrote songs for all of them, as well as many other country stars of the day,e.g. Take this job and shove it. just look up songwriting credits for the highwaymen album, he's there. He's done songs with all these guys live.

Hey man I appreciate this one! Me & my son went to see DAC when he came to Macon Ga USA one night. I gotta tell ya he put on one heck of a show. He is one guy that does some serious raw country sound. This was back probably 7-8 yrs ago. Don't know how well he does now, he's gotta be gettin up in age. But if you got the chance, he might be worth the money to go see. if he came close by I would.

Saw'em in Ft. Wayne, IN, it was a good show, but short, and buddy when it was over he was gone, out the door literally. I had hoped to talk, but not a chance. I stood right in front of him and took his picture as he left the stage, he looked at me, and I thought I was dead. Thank God I had a cowboyhat and boots on!

That must of been the same tour I saw. He strung all his songs together, then played a bunch of Elvis songs.he had two mexicans playing Rock n Roll guitar and another playing Journey type keyboards.I been a DAC fan for life, but that was a real let down.

Also, try using this website. It's an online version of something called a dictionary. Dictionaries are a collection of words and their collectively agreed upon meanings. Some of the most intelligent minds work on these dictionaries, so I think we can reach an agreement here, about the meanings of words used by either of us. In fact, I looked up "retarded" as I was not sure the context you were using it, but I still couldn't find out where you got your personal definition.
