  • Youtube's captions really amp up the hilarity here

  • Am I the only one who cried when Solaire went mad? :<

  • Taking off your armor is mandatory and totally necessary

  • The Sun... the Sun WILL rise tomorrow!...

  • dose he mean sun as in the sun in the sky

  • @DgVeTeRaN It appears so, but the sun may also stand for something. It could mean his sanity, since he gets more and more desperate the find it until he gets the helmet which drives him insane and into hostility with you.

  • what does he mean by "find my own sun"?

  • This fucking depresses me >:( make a video where you save him !. PRAISE THE SUN !!!.

  • @JazzPocket he did :/ if you save him heès depressed cause he didènt get his sun...

Solaire dont give up hope bro ; .; we'll find your sun!

  • R.I.P Solaire, may your sun burn brightly through the darkness.

    Praise.. the.. sun :'(

  • Such a tragic tale

  • Yay, 3:41 means I saved him. I only SAW 8 of the Chaos Bugs die though... :3 I did obtain the Sunlight Maggot though. Muahaha. BUDDY FOR GWYN FIGHT. :)

  • hey I heard that Solaire commits suicide before you face Lord Gwyn due to the fact he don't find his sunlight or whatever, yet you can prevent that by giving 30 humanity to some witch.

Do you know which and where that particulary witch is? And when I must go to her to pay out?

I would prefer to have my friend Solaire at my front to fight Gwyn while I stay as support xD

  • @donteros Solaire doesn't actually commit suicide, he just turns insane and puts a sunlight maggot on his head. To save him, you need to be Chaos Covenant rank +2 by offering 30 humanity to the spider lady after the Queelag's domain area. Beneath the bell, there's a room with an exit and an invisible wall somewhere. Just hit the walls and you'll reveal a secret passage with an egg dude blocking the way. Talk to him, answer "Yes" and he'll move out of the way.

  • @MichelKobayashi

So by giving away 30 humanities to that spider woman in the wall suffering and join the chaos covenant.

Is he like he never took the helmet on? Or do you get something to use on him to force the maggot off?

  • @donteros If you find Solaire inside the shortcut with the sunlight maggot helmet on his head, this means that you failed to kill all the 9 bugs. He can't be saved from this state, it's a scripted flag-event and you either have to either kill or avoid him. Now if you find Solaire like in 3:41 in the video (meaning you killed all the bugs and got the helmet), then you can summon him for the Centipede boss fight and Gwyn.

  • @MichelKobayashi

Well this is kinda a thing of being selfish or thinking of others xD

Like make sure he gets no maggot on his head and he remains ever depressed and sad.

Let him get a maggot and he will feel like he succeeded his goal and can die happy xD

    Kinda weird that part.

  • @MichelKobayashi So the only way to get Solaire's armor is to kill him? If you kill him while hostile, do you still get it? Also, if you kill him while friendly, do you still get it? And lastly, if you kill Solaire, are you banned from the Warriors of Sunlight? (I am a current member with the second lightening spear)

  • @Spiderfan1989 Solaire will always drop his gear when killed, whether he's hostile or not. The wiki says: "Killing him doesn't seem to affect your standing with the covenant, however it's unconfirmed"

  • @donteros Talk to the spider lady, enter her covenant and offer her 30 humanity. Now you need to talk to Solaire in Undead Burg before the bridge and in Anor Londo inside the castle near the 3rd bonfire (and maybe you need to talk to him in Undead Burg again near the statue of the Sunlight Covenant after that). Now kill Ceaseless Discharge in Demon Ruin and head to Lost Izalith.

  • @donteros There's an area with tons of Capra demons and Taurus demons, the only way to go through is a fog door which leads to a boss. Don't go through the fog door, there's a hole in the wall on the right with tree roots. It's the shortcut you just enabled thanks to the Chaos Covenant rank +2. Once you open the door to the shortcut to Lost Izalith, you'll see a dozen sunlight maggots. Kill them and one of them will drop the Sunlight maggot helmet.

  • Gay Moment for Solaire. :3

  • 1:59 : Hey solaire! I put on the Sunlight Warrior uniform that you gave me, but I don't know if this is going to work out...

  • such a sad when i killed him :'(

  • lik dis if u cry evertim ;__;

  • He's... uhm, whatever noises towards the end kind of freaked me out- all the more reason to save his arse!

Well I figured I'd owe him one for helping me with some battles anyways one in particular- but man saving him is rather confusing.

  • Am I the only one who thinks Solaire just went regular undead crazy, killed a sunmaggot and stuck it on his head?

There's nothing about the maggots that imply they're parasites or control people. They just just scuttle and glow.

  • @SenorRu Sunlight Maggot's ingame description:

"A loathsome parasite that inhabits Lost Izalith.

It is completely immobile, yet still lives. [...]"

    Definition of Parasite:

"An animal or plant that lives in or on another, from which it obtains nourishment. The host does not benefit from the association and is often harmed by it."

I've to agree that Solaire turned undead, although it's not the Maggot's fault - after all, it's just a living helmet that emits light.

  • wtf, i killed the centipede demon before going into the shortcut, but i also didnt enter lost izalith, so why did solaire already have a maggot on his head???????

  • Solaire is the first NPC in a game I've given a shit about in so many years. That says a lot about Dark Souls for me.

  • no Solaire... you are the Sun.... and then Solaire was a hollow

  • My heart is breaking....

  • Comment removed

  • couldnt save him... :( damn bugs

  • If only I could be so grossly incandescent...

  • His becoming infected sounds oddly...sexual. And makes me feel dirty. ;~; ALL MY HUMANITIES, I SWEAR SOLAIRE I WILL PROTECT YOU FROM THOSE DAMN BUGS.

  • good night first son of gwyn, fallen god of war...

  • I can proudly say I have never had to kill solaire. in any of my play throughs!!

    Sun Brethren over Wenches !

  • Manly tears were shed.

  • OH man, Solaire is so badass.

  • He was another Ostrava; searching for his father.

  • I need help with the solaire path, I talked to him in undead burg, killed the gargoyle, killed the gaping dragon, but in the bonfire inside where the silver knights are, he didn't show up but I saw his soul sign near the boss, I killed the boss with him, and head to undead parish where the covenant is but he didn't show up and he was still at the same place in undead burg where I met him, is there something that I'm missing?

  • @anthoney2233 Did you download the new patch? The 1.06 version fixed this glitch for me.

  • @anthoney2233 Yes there is. Solaire!

    Hah hah hah!

    Sorry, couldn't resist. I'm afraid I can't help you there. :(

  • @anthoney2233 this happened to me in new game plus for my guy, I tried to do Solaire's story right the second time but, nothing happened. I don't think u will be able to redo his story quest and the Catarina knight in new game plus, happened to me, but I made a new character and manage to save Solaire :)3

  • NNNNNOOOOO! S- S- Solaire!

    You were a bro... ;w;

  • so do i have to join the chaos covenant to save him?

  • @goldenboymac Yes, joining the chaos covenant is the only way to open the shortut to kill the 9 bugs (you have to offer 30 humanity to the spider lady to rank up to chaos covenant+2)

  • >oohhh, OOOOHHHHH!

    thats my reaction to yaranaika.

  • Solaire, my brother, you will forever be..... the Sun **points at the Sun with one hand over heart**

  • Solaire was a great character. Nice edit and music. Some kind of written narrative would have been a added bonus.

  • Doesnt solaire kind of remind anyone of ostrava from demons souls?

  • @a12345awesome

Ostrava requires help throughout Demon's Souls, Solaire offers help throughout Dark Souls.

  • @briareoskerensky i know but i mean character progression wise, how they both started out pumped about their quests and by the end both succumb to depression, where ostrava commits suicide and Solaire goes crazy in search of his own sun.

  • PRAISE THE SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN

  • No Solaire... you are the sun!

...and then Solaire of Astora was a hollow.

  • 02:05 that's very interesting...

  • @LittleBrother3 bow chicka bow wow

  • Sun bro! How tragic...

  • Did you add the music for the final battle, or was that in game?

If its in game what's the name for it?

    RIP Sunbro

  • @Suenmk3 I added it, it's Lacrimosa from the Mozart's requiem.

  • @Suenmk3 Look up "Lacrimosa", and I'm pretty sure that wasn't in-game. :)

  • Hey guys, if you want Solaire for the final boss fight, or you care about NPCs and get attached to them like I do, it's IMPERATIVE that you talk to him after the Centipede Demon boss fight, or he will get infected by the Sunlight Maggot even if you are rank 2 in Chaos Servant and you have killed all the chaos bugs. This happened to me and I was SO. SAD. that I had to kill Sunbro. The Wiki is wrong in that aspect. They say not to talk to him after the battle.

  • ...so solaire wanted to be infected by the sunlight maggot, to "become" a sun?

  • @brainwasher9876 No, the "Sun" is symbolic. Some people will argue that Solaire is actually the son of Gwyn, he somehow lost his memory and he's seeking his father (hence why you can find Solaire's last summon sign right before the Gwyn boss fight in Kiln). People figured that out by reading the item description of Solaire's gear and the sunlight medal. Also, fun facts, Solaire can throw lightning bolts, just like Gwyn does in the Prologue (when the Gods fought the Dragons).

  • @MichelKobayashi nteresting..sounds legit!!

  • @MichelKobayashi I think Solaire is Gwyn's firstborn sun, who was the God of War, but somehow his deity-ship was revoked. Like you said, I don't think he remembers who he was before, hence why he is mortal. His fixation on the sun is symbolic, it could because subconsciously the sun 'reminds' him of Gwynevere, his younger sister, and/or it reminds him of his Father. His own 'quest' through the game is him wanting either revenge on his Father, or closure.

  • @MichelKobayashi The 'Sun' he's talking about is more than just a metaphor for a son. When Solaire dies he realizes he is the sun, that is, the son of Gwyn. However, this isn't the true sun he's looking for. if you save him (which requires a lot of dedication), I realize the last words he says in his dialogue is simply "My sun...My dear, dear, son..." in an empty hallway to nobody but you. The player, The Dark Lord, is Solaire's son. Obsessed with the sun. Awaken in an insane asylum. So sad.

  • @Klonny PS: Female ain't canon. Calling it.

  • @MichelKobayashi So Solaire really commits suicide ? and if you do find the sunlight maggot helmet will he fight you anyway ? lastly is there anyway to save him nd not kill him ? I could porobably google it but an answer will still help lol.

  • @sonicadx Suicide? He just put a helmet on his head because he turned crazy at some point and then attacks the player. That's not suicide. Now if you want to save him, you need the kill the bugs and pick up the the sunlight maggot helmet. If you spoke to him in Undead Burg and Anor Londo beforehand, he will appear inside the shortcut, safe and sound.

  • @MichelKobayashi the other guy made it sound like he commited suicide.

  • -_- why no good ending for good characters?! whhyyyyyyy?!

  • 4:58 ;-; Manly tears, manly tears.

  • 0:23 Oh you, Solaire. lol
