The cowardly victor wins nothing! The girl takes the musicians symbol of affection and, as we know from the beginning, leaves hers. They are bound to each other as the credo of western violence subsides, it is the written word and humble musical melody which triumph. A tragic tale of love, redemption, and song! Brilliant!
