I love all of the doctors in the new run but Tenant was let down by Davis (who is a tool) and Ecclestone outshone him because, despite Tenant being a phenomenal actor, Ecclestone worked the sole survivor angle so much better. As for Smith, dear god is there anyone more laid back in the universe, he is in terrible peril and he shows it but he takes it so much in his stride that he just becomes awesome!
i think that at the end of series 7 or 8, the eleventh, tenth, and NINETH doctor should do a whole thing together. that would be amazing. if eccleston would decide to come back for an episode.... or two..... or a three part episode, if its that epic
Since Matt Smith wasn't in role you can't actually say that was the 11th doctor - the 11th doctor would have been just as energetic as the 10th in that situation.

He is not a different person. He even pretty much has the same hand since it has identical cells/DNA/etc. You said "david regenerates twice making him 10th and 11th..." Technically ( and factually even ) the title of this vid is wrong, David tennant is the 10'th and 11'th doctor. He regenerates and filter's the excess into his cut off hand so his cells dont randomize, however this still counts as a regeneration making david tennant the 10th and 11th doctor and matt is the 12th doctor. I always mix up regeneration with incarnation, sorry about that. On the other hand, it seems the producers of the show define "incarnation" as "an actor playing the Doctor", so you can say: 11 actors, 11 doctors.

well technically, the second doctor didnt regenerate into the third, he was transformed into the third, so david was the 9th and the tenth regeneration.

@Voldmosis David Tennant is 10th Doctor and that's it, he even states he has enough residual power from his regeneration to grow back his hand... and there is at least one point in the series where he has stated how many times he has regenerated. When the 10th Doctor reunites with Sarah Jane Smith he says he has regenerated half a dozen times since she has seen him last, which is 6 actors/Doctors ending with Tennant, making Matt Smith the 11th Doctor.

@Voldmosis he grew his hand back between season 1 & 2 and Doctor-Donna was created at the end of season 4, so you got those facts wrong, plus he got shot by a Dalek at the end of the 4th season and entered the TARDIS and he used the hand to heal himself so he didn't HAVE to regenerate, then Donna touched the hand and became the Doctor-Donna.... there was no regeneration whatsoever until the end of the specials that take place between seasons 4 and 5, and that regeneration was to the 11th Doctor

@Voldmosis A Time Lord can prevent death and regeneration by focusing the regenerative energies into a severed appendage, like the Doctor's hand. His hand siphoned off the excess energy that would have changed his appearance while the Tenth Doctor used just enough to heal himself from the injury sustained by a Dalek Gunstick. @Voldmosis Well I often consider that the full regeneration energy wasn't in fact used. Though that may be false by the half-human doctor. There's a lot of energy that's put into regeneration because it has to rebuild his own cells and it could be the fact that he used his old hand to copy some of the missing DNA to keep his body the same form from that hand. The excess energy you saw was just like eraser sheddings.
The Doctor still has 2 more regenerations to go by not completing the process.

The Eleventh Doctor is much more clownish than Tennant and Eccelston and far more alien. While Eccelston and Smith had an alien mysteriousness about them, Tennant's Doctor lacked this and seemed more human than alien although his appeal is much more universal. I think the universal appeal of Tennant is why some have been turned off by Smith because he is not that universal. Tennant's greatest strength is that he was always brilliant even when working with terrible material.
I like matt smith personally he brings a lot of fun to the table my fav will always be tennant well because he was my first doctor course he made me want to go back into the older series and rewatch episodes from the other series but he had a long run and went out good Matt's a good doctor who doesn't deserve half the crap tennant fanboys give him

Uhh. I watched Doctor Who from Tom Baker to Matt Smith and I still dislike Matt Smith. Peter Davison was my childhood favorite and Christopher Eccleston was as great as Tennant but Matt Smith is below both of them thats why we are "bitching".
@PsychoticPeace While I like Christopher the most (but only because he was my first Doctor), I think Tennant was the best actor out of what I've seen, the 2005 Dr. Who onward. Otherwise, I agree with you. I can barely stand looking at Matt Smith's face because it's so ugly, but I love Doctor who enough that I deal with it, and enjoy the series anyway. It's just people who are into Tennant's looks whining.

@mcridiculose It's the actor, too. I like an eccentric Doctor, hence the fact that I continue to be a Tom Baker fan. He was the most quirky Doctor and I think that was a big part of not just his, but the Doctor's appeal. If the new guy is going the same way, I kind of look forward to it.
But Jenny, Metacrisis 10, and DoctorDonna aren't Timelord. They're always described as half doctor...I'm not sure about Jenny...though I'm pretty sure MC and DD are part human and therefore not completely time lord.

Technically ( and factually even ) the title of this vid is wrong, David tennant is the 10'th and 11'th doctor. He regenerates and filter's the excess into his cut off hand so his cells dont randomize, however this still counts as a regeneration making david tennant the 10th and 11th doctor and matt is the 12th doctor. Leaving him with only one regeneration remaining according to the laws of the time lords

@Voldmosis Smith is 11th when the 10th started to regenerate the first time he stop'd the processes before it was completed by transferring the energy in to his hand. therefor if it did not finish then it was not a full regeneration he used the start of the processes to repair his damaged cells.

When the 10th Doctor reunites with Sarah Jane Smith he says he has regenerated half a dozen times since she has seen him last, which is 6 actors/Doctors ending with Tennant, making Matt Smith the 11th Doctor.

@Voldmosis he grew his hand back between season 1 & 2 and Doctor-Donna was created at the end of season 4, so you got those facts wrong, plus he got shot by a Dalek at the end of the 4th season and entered the TARDIS and he used the hand to heal himself so he didn't HAVE to regenerate, then Donna touched the hand and became the Doctor-Donna.... there was no regeneration whatsoever until the end of the specials that take place between seasons 4 and 5, and that regeneration was to the 11th Doctor

His hand siphoned off the excess energy that would have changed his appearance while the Tenth Doctor used just enough to heal himself from the injury sustained by a Dalek Gunstick. @Voldmosis Well I often consider that the full regeneration energy wasn't in fact used. Though that may be false by the half-human doctor. There's a lot of energy that's put into regeneration because it has to rebuild his own cells and it could be the fact that he used his old hand to copy some of the missing DNA to keep his body the same form from that hand. The excess energy you saw was just like eraser sheddings.
The Doctor still has 2 more regenerations to go by not completing the process.

The Eleventh Doctor is much more clownish than Tennant and Eccelston and far more alien. While Eccelston and Smith had an alien mysteriousness about them, Tennant's Doctor lacked this and seemed more human than alien although his appeal is much more universal. I think the universal appeal of Tennant is why some have been turned off by Smith because he is not that universal. Tennant's greatest strength is that he was always brilliant even when working with terrible material.

Otherwise, I agree with you. I can barely stand looking at Matt Smith's face because it's so ugly, but I love Doctor who enough that I deal with it, and enjoy the series anyway. i don't watch the old stuff from before 9th doctor but i know they did one called the three doctors and it would be cool if christopher david and matt did a special when they worked together

i have to be honest..... i hate the new doctor..... hes weird..... i miss David..... and Christopher and the other old ones but this guy is boring...

I agree. Christoper and David were great., I still watch their episodes on dvd..I can't get into Matt, I don't hate him, I just feel indifferent.
