  • Great old mandola. Love it!!

  • @FrancisMandola Thank you! And thanks for the invitation!

  • Great tune, funny name!

  • @fireflyxl5 Yes what an "unpleasant" name for a great tune! You have to wonder how it got named!

    Thanks for listening.

  • Great tune!!!

    What tuning are you using?

  • @DLynch2010 Thanks! Its in standard tuning -- that it is played on a mandola not mandolin makes it seem altered? In the USA the mandola is tuned like a viola CGDA (or a fifh down from the mandolin (GDAE like a violin). The scale length is closer to 17" on the mandola as contrasted to 14" for the mandolin. In Europe I think a mandola is tuned down an octave instead of a fifth? -- not sure. Yes, its a great tune! Deserves a better name?

  • Your playing reminds me nothing of finding maggots in sheep's hide

    Excellent playing

  • @leapinlueschen Thanks! Who knows how the tune got its name --but I think you are right it deserves a better name!! (<:

  • nice shirt.

  • @IBG67 Smile! Fine man -- not much of a candidate though. Thanks for stopping by my channel!!

  • I gotta learn this one. Sounds good on the 'dola!

  • Hi thanks for the shout! It is a good song -- seldom heard I'd say as the title is not your every day thing(<: It works fine on the mandolin too and Harvey Reid goes in the Flowers of Edinbugh from it -- I kid you not!

  • Very cool tune! I like! Also like that Gibson Mandola. You have quite the collection from what I can see. Very nice! You have good right hand technique. You keep it moving. I need to work on that.

    Pick on!

  • Thanks for the kind remarks. I have enjoyed your offerings as well -- I agree with you we should all keep on picking -- for sure. It sure beats most other things you can do with your time!

  • Thanks for the comment. I might repost the tune along with Flowers of Edinburgh on the mandolin and wearing a neutral shirt. Smile!

  • great playing!! now take off the McCain shirt! haha.. just giving you a hard time..

  • Great playin'! :)

  • That's a nice mandola Bernie! You have some beauties don't ya?!! Sounds good!

  • and the savory song title of the year award goes to ...

  • Thanks for the comment. Yes if the song happens to have another name this might be the time to find it!

By the way last night I realized that last month someone else has posted a fiddle version of this tune -- under the same name -- amazing!
