  • who would drive shit like that anyway

  • I sprayed a good bit of lube on mine they came right off no need to cut.

  • Thanks a million. I already bought ball joints to replace, which need it, but I suspect this is my problem. In Christ, Daniel

  • Good stuff man thanks!

  • PUTS THE LOTION ON THE SKIN!

  • Dude you're creepy

  • $ 32??? You got ripped off. My links are $ 20 for both sides at Oreilly's. You can get them at Napa, but they aren't as strong as the set as I purchased. Mine have lifetime warranty.

  • @hickrystyk not true. napa could not even order them for my van. neither could any other auto parts store in my area. that is why i got them from a dealer. napa did have them for other vehicles i worked on, but not the van. believe me i hate going to the dealer.

  • @hickrystyk Small amounts of money are small.

  • Thanks a lot for this video! I had no idea how to replace the linkage and after watching this video, I was able to do it.

  • 2:40 i know that metal what hot. hahaha

  • Leave this guy alone. Its a shaggin wagon. If he likes it,thats all that matters.Nice job on the video.

  • If you just jack up the van and take the wheel off, you can get to the link way easier, and you can just remove it without having to cut it. WAY easier.

  • @demjp8RqDA except for when the bolt nut and threads are so rusty theyre almost non existant. trust me ive loosened enough rusty pats to know when cutting is easier and quicker.

  • @kwacz I guess it depends on the link. The links on my cars are small enough that once they're rusty, you can just put a couple pair of vice grips on them, give them a good twist and break them right off.

  • @demjp8RqDA this guy work hard lol.

  • Thanks for the video, It helped alot on our 1997 astro van

  • I found that a 3 dollar can of PB Blaster has kept me from wrestling with a lot of rusted bolts and cutting wheels, eventually causing me more work...when I just want to be done with it!

  • Got mine from advance for 11.99 a kit per side. And good way to slow down the grinder with the concrete, you must like constantly wearin down your wheel for no reason.

  • Got mine from advance for 11.99 a kit per side.

  • do you have any candy in your van?

  • your a du du du du dumb ass

"today we will be replacing the sway bar on my ASTRO VAN."

I BET THIS SIERIAL RAPIST GETS SOME TAIL IN THAT.

  • I think you installed those metal washers upside down...

  • @elantra11 nope, those metal washers are installed in the same direction as the origional factory ones were.

  • @elantra11, Hey yeah, I think your right ! Its the old convex/concave confusion "thing" goin-on...Also, "kwaks", ... didn't "replace" the sway-bar, you put the old shit back-on...

Hey Kids, make sure its in the budget next time you do the work, especially all THAT work!! I guess thats how its done in NY...........BlackHawks Rule!!!

  • @zelio12 i replaced the sway bar end links. there is absolutely nothing wrong with the bar itself so why replace it. it isnt even rusting. if it was rusted out then i would replace the whole bar.

  • Thanks for the vid. Both of mine broke and I wasn't sure what it was suppose to look like. Very helpful. Thanks.

  • Wow this guys is a fucking dumb ass hahahaha I don't think I've ever seen someone struggle so bad on something so simple, I think this guy is the first I've seen that brings construction tools to a car hahaha I think this pays like a 0.6 or maybe less people just take your car to a shop pay the extra 50 bucks labor and get this shit done right

  • you must love doing everything the hard way.

i did the same thing with my blazer

    it took me 10 minutes

no sabre saw no electric cutting tools.

take off the wheels use a 7 dollar hack saw cut off the threading on the top of the bolts unscrew whats left and the whole thing come right off.

no blowing sparks and metal dust in your eyes no grinding screwable bolts off.

    pure and simple

  • easy fix

  • hey mine are not broke but u can see grease coming out of the plastics from holes it has, an when the car hit a bump i hear a clunk noise in both sides , i replaced the 4 struts yesterday an the noise still there, can be those links making the noise? what else can be?

  • they are not greaseable (i neversaw ones that were) it is just basically a bolt a spacer four fender washers and four rubber gromets. Makje sure the links are tight on both sides. jack up one side at a time so the tire is oof the ground and the links should be tight. also are the rubber gromets dried out or in good shape. they only cost between 15 to 40 bucks for both sides depending on the vehicle and whether its aftermarket or dealer.

  • tks i replaced them already, the problem was the sway bar rubber.

  • @ElLeonidas2009 Probably worn out ball joints...

  • Ass-tro Van. kkkk . What a name of American van name. Somes like NOVA, somes like YUGO

  • good job...its cool to do shit on your own.

  • I remember the commercials for these vans: "Chevy, Chevy...Astro, Astro..."

  • yea, that is a great commercial. i love it.

In all the universe theres nothing quite like the new size chevy astro

    chevy chevy astro astro

the new size chevy astro stands alone.......

    love it.

  • I posted my video of me changing the stabilizer bar pins on my 1984 pontiac station wagon. I was driving and one broke off so I only had to wrestle one off... looks like you had a tough time getting yours off. Cheers.

  • Nice job. I don't know why I didnt search youtube first on this topic. My sway bar is the actual thing that broke on my 2000 Montana. Still not sure if I am going to tackle it myself though. Your video gives me hope though.

  • its easy. just take your time and pay attention to how you remove the old one and install the new one the same way. the biggest problem you will have is rust. and you can always drive without it if you manage to get the old one off and cant get the new one on. just drive slow arround corners because it wont be as stable flying arround corners. then you can at least drive it until you can take it to someone who can fix it for you, but give it a try yourself first.

  • nice video; I broke my links with a wrench and channel locks- craftsman breaker bar works too. I like the jack with drill; faster and better

  • cool. just saved 80$ doing it my self. ty man :D

  • thats great!! actually you probably saved more because a lot of places double the price of the part and then add labor. usually 80 an hour

  • i just torqued them by hand. i just went by feel. after awhile of working on this stuff, you get a feel for how tight it is.

  • just curious how tight you tightend the bolts? got a pressure in mind?

  • 14-22lbs on my Nissan Maxima.

  • thanks a lot man. I have an 02 dakota. It has thesse red plastic round pieces that came with it. Not really sure what they are, I checked the other side and didn't have anything like them so I guess I don't need them. Usually not good to have extra parts tho.... haha. Do you know if they are necessary?

  • not sure. is it possible they are caps of some sort just to protect from road salt.etc

  • Ya... I'm a knuckle head. They were actually the bushings. I figured it out. Obviously an extremely hard plastic. But got it on and works great!!

  • Wish my sway bar came out that easy. I got a gen4 Taurus and the sway bar is bolted to the top side of the sub frame.

  • good job.

  • I dont understand, why did you grind the links off? Were they rust soldered?

  • the links were so rusted that they would no longer unscrew.

  • how did u know how to do this?

  • i am really good at fixing stuff. most of the time i can just look at it and figure it out.

  • This was very educational. Thanks, man.

  • Just replace the end links,

  • that is what i did, but i had to remove the bar to grind off the old pieces because i could not get the grinder in there. it was way too close to the brake line and if i was to slip. bye bye brakes.

  • there was some stuff in the way and pieces rusted together. it wasnt really hard at all, just a little bit of time. also i went to autozone and the other parts stores in my area and they didnt carry this part so i had to get it from the dealer.

  • my dad had the same problem! on his 1999 ford explorer.. its a swaybar end link. we got it at autozone. but on my dads it was easy to repalce your was alittle more complicated.
