  • Gosh! What fun to see! Thanks for posting this. I only know the Brynner/Kerr movie version.

  • He's an incredibly athletic and graceful man.

  • She's stunning.

  • 1952 corresponds to the year The King & I received a Tony for best Musical.

But this is clearly a 70's revival.

  • It was Marni...Julie did not ever dub ANYBODY.

  • Ok, people, to settle it finally, Marni Nixon was Anna's singing voice in the movie. She was uncredited, too bad. Just look it up for yourself.

  • JULIE ANDREWS was DEBORAH KERR'S singing voice in the movie

  • @REDDFOXX362642 It was Marni Nixon.

  • Comment removed

  • was this actress teh Dubbing singer for Deborah Kerr?? coz I don't think Deborah Kerr actually used her own singing voice in teh Film

  • whats the name of the actress in this video

  • is she russin? shouldnt mrs anna be british

  • We are doing this show

  • One of the great, most electric moments in musical theater history. I get goose bumps every time he places his hand on her side.

  • god, this Anna is awful... :(

  • @murbuzz This Anna played the role on Broadway opposite Brynner to great acclaim.

  • Whatever the performance, Brynner's eyes always captivate and draw you in and keep you there in glorious inertia. Rest his soul.

  • BTW, I have just noticed at IMDB that she was born in 1915, so cripes! that means she was c. 56 years old - nearly an OAP - when she made this! I only hope I look & sound this good at her age!! ,-)

  • Again according to Wiki: "The King and I: In Feb[...] 1954, Morison took over [as] Anna Leonowens in the [R&H] production of The King and I, [with] Yul Brynner in his star-making role as the King of Siam. The play premiered in 1951, originally with Gertrude Lawrence as Leonowens. Lawrence was subsequently replaced by Celeste Holm, Constance Carpenter, Annamary Dickey, and finally Morison, who appeared [...] until its Broadway closing on March 20, 1954, and then continued [...] on tour."

  • According to Wiki: "In 1971 she and Yul Brynner performed "Shall We Dance" from The King and I on a broadcast of the Tony Awards."

  • Gosh, he must have gotten SO GOOD at not stepping on dresses.

  • What year was this?

  • this doesnt look like 1952

  • @mavphantom It wasn't. I can't recall the exact year, but in the 1970s they did a tribute year to classic shows. As I remember, Carol Channing did something from "Hello, Dolly!" and Zero Mostel did something from Fiddler as well.

  • she looks like loretta young!

  • i was a young when i was introduced to musicals... and what a memory

  • How wonderful to see this again. Yul was and is the only King. Thank you for posting this.
