  • as a kid i wrote in and asked them why all mass exerts a gravitational force. i got a letter back saying they could not, at the time, answer my question. i was very disappointed. but now i get to say that i stumped newton's apple.

  • Did Newton's Apple re-run until 1999 after it season ended on January 3, 1998?

  • :15 I like how the host says "Let's just say he's 'WELL preserved' " making it obvious that the mummy looks to have an erection LMAO!!

  • This show is the reason I almost killed myself due to eletrocution, I was about 5 going 6 years old

  • My mom produced the show

  • who the hell cares about the theme song? The SHOW was the best.

  • The 1983-89 shows, if they're ever to get a DVD release, will probably not get the original "Ruckzuck" restored on them because, of course, the licensing restrictions.

  • i grew up on this show...this and mr wizard

  • Cool....Ira Flatow now hosts "Science Fridays" on NPR.

  • I liked this show, but I always found it strange that a whole audience of people would come to watch science demonstrations.

  • I remember Dead Ernie, the model human skeleton.

  • Station ID! FTW!!!

  • I miss this show. We need more science shows like this

  • This looks like it could be a show on discovery for adults.

Look how far we have fallen.

  • the synth music in the 80's was just fantastic

  • @Dimerafan28..... I agree with you 1000 percent.....great pbs memories.......

  • Man I Miss this show and all the other old pbs shows too.

  • This is in stereo. One of the first PBS shows to be in stereo. Reading Rainbow started to broadcast in stereo in 1984.

  • I used to watch this (the 1990's series) along with Bill Nye the Science Guy!

  • anybody remember Dr. Fad? I think it was one of these science type of shows, but it also had a "consumer reports for kids" angle to it as well...it was pretty good as I remember.

  • KTCA Saint Paul, Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States America,Sir Isaac Newton's Apple - Intro,Sir Isaac Newton's Apple - 3 Funding Logos,& Sir Issac Newton's Apple - Unknown (October 13, 1984)

  • how long did this last???

  • i like it

  • What happened to Ira Flatow. Now science shows are confined to Nova and Nature on PBS these days.

  • @dinfg6 And they can be rather hit or miss IMHO.

  • I remember KPIX's Brian Hackney doing some episodes of Newtons Apple here.

  • Wow, I Remember Watching This On PBS In South Dakota. This Is Like Looking Back At My Childhood.

  • Sir issac is a *sir* he is famus and he always will be.

  • I had totally forgotten about this show until this clip.

  • Why not? Are you upset.

  • Why not?

  • goretoya, please upload UNCTV Promos- October 2, 1989.

  • pressmin, please upload "Newton's Apple: DNA; Rube Goldberg Contest; Parrot Chat; Chewing Tin Foil; Seahorse Closing/ PBS 1989 ident".

  • Hello. NO NO. NO.

  • Did thet just rip off the Funky Town song?

  • I remember watching this here and there in the 80's as a kid. :)

  • This must be the music the show used after Kraftwerk sued over the use of "Ruckzuck." Peace.

  • No, Newton's Apple used this music BEFORE they used "ruckzuck" came in around 1988.

  • Okay, here's what happened. Newton's Apple used Kraftwerk's "Ruckzuck" through PBS compulsory license in which Congress gives public broadcasting the right to use any music they want but only for broadcast. The music on this clip was the replacement music for home video sales. As far as I know Kraftwerk never said anything about the use of their song as the theme song. Newton's Apple also used Suburbs' "Music for Boys"... which is another great song.

  • Replacement music sucks.

  • @pressmin No, the broadcasts from 1983-1989 used Ruckzuck, but the home videos used this.

  • The version you speak of after 1989 was the remix of Ruckzuck.

  • @pressmin Ruckzuck was used for the broadcast version only (which PBS stations use under a compulsory license. This version was rewritten for home video sales. Kraftwerk never sued the show.

  • @pressmin

    hmh...

"Ruckzuck" was used as the theme song for the defunct PBS show Newton's Apple in the United States. It was used without permission. Later episodes of the show feature an unknown cover version of the song.

  • This Show Still Beats Watching "Beakman's World" And "Bill Nye The Sciance Guy".

  • ira flato rules

  • Wow. I Just Loved Watching This Show At The FarmHouse In Canton, South Dakota. Sure Beats Watching Beakman's World And Bill Nye The Sciance Guy. LOL.

    StefanoFan27.

  • As a kid you don't question things, you sit and watch and absorb, some more than others, so if any of the original cast members from any one of these shows reads this, Thank you for enlightening a young mind and telling me i can do it, because i did, and its all because of your work. And thank you to PBS for continuing to enlighten generation after generation of young minds. It truly is an amazing gift you are giving to us. anyone who disagrees is sadly mistaken.

  • i have always alwaya had an affinity to and distinct love for physics, astronomy, math, and biology. I have taken my love for all of these things to levels i am actually surprised i attained, by becoming an astrophysicist. I live in MA, and work for a prominent college at the age of 27, and right up untill this very moment, never questioned where my love of science came from. I now COMPLETELY understand why i like cooking, and building, and nature and science...it was because of PBS.

  • ControlledExplosions: I think your right I don't remember that being the theme song...

  • I don't remember this music, the music's not right it was different.

  • Man, this show was the shit

  • is the other theme on youtube? I cant find it. im going to give up

  • It used to be there...the person who posted it was suspended (don't know why).

  • look up "ruckzuck" on you tube, the track posted by 2glenside has the Kraftwerk track of which the first minutes or so comprises the original theme

  • Comment removed
