Actually james otto wrote the music (chords) and jamey johnson wrote the lyrics due to a guy coming to him with a picture of a black & white military photograph and they said....man if you could see it in color!!

I love Jamey Johnson's rendition but JAmes Otto blows that out of the water. Saw Otto do this live in Columbus, OH and it sent chills down my spine and brought tears to my eyes - seriously. The songwriter always does it better!

I'll give it to James, he has a purer voice than Jamey Johnson, but Jamey gives this song the sound it needs. James doesn't give it the southern twang that the song represents. Great song by both men and I'm glad it was co-written.
