  • A keyboard, heart monitor and a killer beat = a classic jam. R.I.P. memory makers...ur gone but not forgotten. :/

  • love when he makes the o sign with the fingers. this song is in my system. can't stop.

  • sure nuff REAL music!! heard this alot in those basement parties back in the day..that's when we slow-dragged and just had fun at parties!

  • A good song is ALWAYS a good song, doesn't matter when it was done. This track was the real thing before all the posers and dumb white chicks showed up. Two guys did this man. That's called " talent."

  • i love this song! & i miss the 80s!

  • book me for the first trip. one way, no return.

  • omg i love this! someone's got me singing this as my theme song :)

  • David Frank is cool as shit!!!! best damn keyboardist still today!!! what keyboard is that ? looks like the 0b8 or the super jupiter

  • the beginning to the mid 80's all the way, you can't compare to it now. F#ck the 90's and 2000's style.

  • The beginning of this vid was shot in my neighborhood...lol

  • No one makes 'em like 'Mic Murphy and David Frank'!... Absolute quality!

  • This was a great mix with the same song from Robert Palmer.....MORE FANTASTIC ´80´s music at my channel!!!! Take a look.....

  • Michael Jackson & actor James Woods (on keys) formed a techno-pop group back in the 80's? Who knew?

  • 80s was far superior to the 90s music. I found the early 90s interesting then it became quickly tiring to the ear. It became more about the beats with a weak song structure on top. The 80s has a warmth of sound that has not been matched since, even though most of it was electronic. People knew their instruments and pushed the technology to its limits, the results were awesome.

  • i was born in 1980 but i remember all the great music..i miss the 80's:(

  • that little lit tunnel at :19 is the same tunnel Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam used in the Head To Toe video

  • i was just born this year

  • this was BANGIN' the summer of '82.....

  • Damn! I really love this jam. Dancing in my bed.

  • If there was a way that I could create a time machine and go back to the 80's and take all the people who loved true r&b,soul, funk, & real hip-hop from the 80's I would. The requirements are don't disrespect any one's husband, wife, girl friend, or boyfriend, you have to dance all night, no weapons,no violence, just get your drank on,dance on, & if you meet a single, get your mack on. People i'm 45 and i could say i really enjoyed my youth. THE MUSIC INDUSTRY TODAY DOES NOT PROMOTE TRUE MUSIC.

  • @str8outtatexas1 Amen to that, I'm 46. ALL I listen to is 70's and 80's music.

  • Comment removed

  • @str8outtatexas1 Dude, when you figure out a way to go back, come get me! Those were definitely the best days of my life.

  • @str8outtatexas1 Amen!

  • @str8outtatexas1 i'm with u on that music back then was soooooo real the 80's were thr golden yrs i'm glad to have been apart of it truly!

  • @str8outtatexas1 i couldn't agree with you more. i'm 50 and when i was in my 20's we didn't have any clubs where people had to be searched. guys dressed nicely and had on cologne. women wore dresses and heels and conducted themselves as women. and all you did was dance.

  • @lindadee1000 -Hey my friend I hear ya. We were'nt thinking about fighting or causing trouble unless you had no other choice. We were to worried about looking good & getting your mack or dance on. Me & one of my boys hit a club about a year 1/2 ago just to get out & damn I wish i would have stayed home. Throw back jerseys, caps, jeans, cats looking like thugs & goons, cats holding bottles of liquor in the air yelling, the women were worse than the guys. NO dress code & yes a damn fight started. cont

  • @lindadee1000 -con't. These cats where fighting over a spilled drink. I b.s. you not. the cold thing about it, it was only about 11:15pm so the club closed. My boy & I used to hit that same spot back in the 90's and you had to be dressed to get inside. You had different pro athlete's & entertainers who clubbed there and the club was nice. Man I would'nt go to that spot ever again after seeing how the standards changed. Every song was auto-tuned bitch this, nigga this,F this, just plain garbage.

  • @str8outtatexas1 now that's a damn shame! sounds like somewhere along the way that club turned into a crack house. i only go to one jazz club where i live because it's elegant and serves nice food and people are there to enjoy the music. i don't have to worry about cussing and slutty dancing and boxers hanging out of jeans. boy how times have changed!

  • @lindadee1000 -Yes in deed

  • @str8outtatexas1 Put me down for a one way ticket my friend......

  • @str8outtatexas1 my sentiments exactly. !!

  • @str8outtatexas1 I agree. Im 32 and I was a baby during the entire 80's but i remember it was a lot less scary a world then it must be for babies these days. People weren't as selfish and you could have fun without risking your life.

  • @str8outtatexas1 I would have to agree with you except for the part about "real hip-hop." I have always preferred musicians and singers to rappers and samplers.

  • this song is the motherfucking jam

  • MAN I REMEMBER BACK IN COLLEGE -THIS SONG-THIS FINE ASS GIRL I LOVED...I WAS WALKING DOWN THE STREET ONE DAY AND I HEARD THIS SONG IN MY HEAD..THIS GIRL WAS DEEP IN MY SYSTEM..SHE WAS SO FINE AND SMART SHE HAD ME I JUST COULDNT TELL HER HOW DEEP SHE WAS INTO MY MIND AND BODY..I LOVED HR FINE ASS-AND SHE LOVED ME-I WAS JUST ACTING TOUGH...LIKE SHE DIDNT EFFECT ME BUT SHE REALLY DID-AND SHE IS STILL IN MY SYSTEM TODAY

  • What the fuck's he doing at 0.50, trying to fly? Great song, weird video.

  • Still tight.

  • Definitely, he's channeling Michael Jackson with this look at the beginning of the video. This song brings back good memories though.

  • @KuttyJoe Definitely imitating Michael, if you watch them in Beat Street you'll even see him wearing the red Thriller jacket.

  • @kmccary he didn't imitate Michael - he was actually born with that face. ... wait, you talkin' bout the clothes. my bad.

  • What's with the tilted keyboards... LOL. Still I think it's timeless and classic Gem

  • i like this duo and their songs jamming cuts.

  • @12Nudler Get outta here little elementary school boy, go listen to your justin bieber, and katie peri crap you and you friends listen too, why are you even here if you hate it so much?

  • that's hoe some of the brothers did it back then. I know I had that same jacket, before MJ wore it in Beat it. MJ brought popular black ORIGINAL culture to light, but he did not create any of the styles

  • He reminds me of michael jackson a little bit.

  • put this shit on replay

  • take me too.. someone mentioned that they're taking donations to build a time machine hahaha

  • Was he bitin' off Michael Jackson or what?!?

  • @Pllm30 No. Leather and mullets were just in style. You'd be surprised how much Michael "bit" off of other artists. He was good at it, but almost everything Michael did - with music and dance - he borrowed and adapted from other people.

  • @scientrophic - That's a jherri curl, not a mullet. Not only is Murphy wearing leather he's also wearing it in the style of a Thriller or Beat It jacket along with Michael Jackson-ish gloves and MJ-inspired dance moves. The leather pants and jacket look with a jherri curl became in-style largely because of the Thriller album in 1982, though MJ had started wearing that look in 1981.

Michael did borrow and adapt from others but it also happened a lot vice versa.

  • @A86 Well, I classify it as a mullet, because that's what's it's striving towards. If Murphy is dressed like Michael, it's likely because the label told the costumer to do it for market share. In all honesty, I prefer the music of the people who actually wrote/performed his music and others who laid the groundwork for his music to be successful. The 80's especially were full of original geniuses; Kashif, Rahni P. Harris, Larry Blackmon, Prince, Stevie Wonder, George Duke, and so many others.

  • @scientrophic - Well, the jherri curl is somewhat like the black man's mullet I guess. Lol You're also right about the label telling him how to dress, but the MJ-like moves in the video make me think he was probably an MJ fan.

MJ actually wrote about 2/3-3/4 of his own music. Especially after the "Off The Wall" Era. If you look at the credits for his albums most of the songs were written or co-written by him. He also played several instruments including the piano, guitar and moog synthesizer.

  • @scientrophic - People who aren't as familiar with his work get the impression he was just a singer and dancer but he was actually a writer, composer, instrumentalist and producer (later on) as well. MJ actually wrote or composed songs for some of those people you listed, especially Stevie Wonder who he was close personal friends with. MJ and Prince apparently worked together at some point too. Starting in the late 80s and early 90s MJ started producing songs for other people as he branched out.

  • @A86 Black man's mullet... lol. That's good to know about MJ. I know he's incredibly talented, obviously not everyone can do what he did. But sometimes it disappoints me when people get the impression that he defined that era of synth and boogie funk because of good PR and a tendency for people to gather around individuals, when there is really so so so much good music like this out there. When you say 80's, people immediately think of Madonna, Guns and Roses and MJ, lol.

  • @scientrophic - "that he defined that era of synth and boogie funk"

I would argue that he did but was not the only one. He was just one of the most visible movers and shakers of the R&B/Soul/Funk world. Partially because of the mega-fame he achieved, which ended up becoming a juggernaut with a life of its own. I would also argue there were a lot of other folks were just as integral to the definition of music and dance as he was (like the guys you listed earlier) who didn't get as much credit.

  • @scientrophic - From what I read Michael actually started producing as early as the early 80s but it was mostly for his siblings at the time. He didn't really get into producing music for others until the late 80s and early 90s. This is a song he produced for his sister LaToya in the early 80s:

    /watch?v=ElaKTHl6ctA

Sounds Kashif-like, doesn't it? :) I do agree though that MJ is "over-exposed" in a sense compared to other geniuses like himself who get much less attention and credit.

  • @scientrophic Ok, I see. I do remember those being in style back then. I did hear a rumor that MJ took ideas from other like from Jeffrey Daniels and his dance moves. Even Janet and Michael did some of the same moves. I guess MJ fooled alot of people, LOL.

  • @Pllm30 Wassup. There are actually interviews on youtube with Jeffrey Daniels and the Boogaloos talking about teaching Michael. Not a rumor! His tracks were usually written, produced, and played by other people, including Stevie Wonder, Rod Temperton, Greg Philinganes, and so many other talented people working in the shadows behind him. Michael was an extremely talented vocalist and dancer, and deserves credit, but I think it's sad most of his fans don't know or care who else made him.

  • this shit is so funky .. it hurts .. hahahaha

  • This takes me back to the 6th grade at I.S. 52 in The Bronx. I was yelling out MENUDO SUCKS!!!!!!! through those halls during that time, too.

  • your in my system

  • Comment removed

  • DOPE! damn i love this!

  • That shirt is fresh he looks like a spotted cow though

  • I STILL LOVE THIS DAMN SONG TELL THIS DAY N NIGHT BYE NIGHT

  • Yeah, they're dressed kinda tacky, but that's a product of (that) time...but you know what's MORE TACKY?... today's music. You guys should be MORE focused on how HORRENDOUS the music is these days. Maybe then, these record execs will think twice about putting out today's semi-talented artists, and making them out to be the next big thing. Don't fall for the hype.

  • @pstanberg, You've knocked the head off the nail. The reason nowdays we see these pseudo artist like Lil' Wayne and others become so famous is because artist like him are the owners or part owners of the record label that put them out. (Money can buy almost anything). In his case it helped that his success was born from the success of the rap group he came out of. They also owned the label that produced their success (Cash Money Records).

  • He looks like oritse from jls

  • @e1lass it's his dad.......lol

  • @e1lass yes. you are so right. they have the same bugged out eyes!

  • i remember this guy from beat street.

  • @wilcole1971 - Yeah I remember that. They were auditioning for the Roxy in Beat Street. Never paid attention to that until I got older and watched the movie. LOL!

  • That jerri curl is something serious drip...drip...drip...LMFAO!

  • Hahaha he looks like he could be Llyod's( the Murder Inc artist) father

  • Loved this song in the 80's, I still DO!!!!

  • Do Any One Have The 12" Extended Version To This Song In Good Sound Qlty.

    Please Send It To Me.

    Thank U

  • Yes, if you see a white and a black man in matching leather pants on a street corner in NYC, that is the most totally straight thing ever.

  • Night Traks back in the day.

  • LOL!! BUT SERIOUSLY...HE DOES KINDA LOOK LIKE MIKE BEFORE THE SKIN BLEACHING!!

  • He's not really imitating mj, that was just the style back then, jacket, the hair, the glasses

  • @1989hirokazu - Yes, largely because of MJ.

  • yeah...the style back then was imitating Michael Jackson. Everybody was doing it.

  • @unavailheart actually it wasnt imitating michael.....that was the look...all dudes looked metrosexual...lol...prince...jessie johnson...the debarges...on and on and on....its just like now all the young dudes wear skinny leg jeans...not to look lil lil wayne but because its the style of the times.

  • @2ndVizion - The gloves, leather jacket with broad shoulders along with the skinny jeans, aviator glasses and shoes do show obvious influence from Michael Jackson though. as well as some of his dance moves. Some of those are pretty unique to MJ's style. Theres no shame in Michael J influencing you as an artist. Back then in the 70s and 80s especially he was everywhere and imitating him was seen as kind of magic formula to make you a better entertainer.

  • @JupiterMan1000 maybe the jacket but ever breaker from east to west coast wore gloves and skinny leg jeans... dont get me wrong i love mike but i hate when people focus on him as the only person with a jericurl and gloves and skinny leg jeans in the 80's. i think solo artist and groups as a whole help define the style of the 80's not just him...but he gets all the credit...p.s. i hope Mic murphy wasnt trying to do a michael dance move cuz his moves were awful...lol even for the 80's

  • Percussive synth bassline !!!

  • 1:41 mj look

  • The early 80's had this great sort of futuristic optimism and forward pushing style and mind set. Somewhere in the mid to late 80's it faded out and in came thuggery then it was back to plaid laden pizza boy delivery bands and gang banger rappers aside from a slight Cyberpunk movement that failed to really capture the imagination aside from a more morose thing in movies.

    Rant done.

    - G

  • 1:55 - 2:05 cutting edge, still trying to figure that one out.

  • Even though I'm christian, down wit the King(Christ). I love this song. Songs like I cant wait (nu shooz) & everything she wants (wham), they still jam to me. Man i love these songs. But people give glory to GOD, Jesus the creator becuz he is the reason why we have all these things.

  • @columbuskid100 hahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahha

  • Chromeo style? hahaha

  • Amazing song. Ahead of its time. I also want to go back in time and be stuck in the 80s forever

  • You can tell he was really a huge Micheal Jackson fan! But "Don't Disturb This Groove" was original! Pure Genius!

  • This should have been in GTA!

  • unbelievably hip for the era

  • The guy on the keyboard with the sunglasses, doesn't he appear to be blind or something?

  • Funk it up, baby.

  • GET OUT OF MY SISTER.

  • GET OUT OF MY SISTER.

  • Any info on the location where was shoot the video? Possible entrance of a club? Also on video of Lisa Lisa same place just 4 years later, opps! out time!

  • My mom has the album with this song on a cassette tape that she's had since I was a baby. And it still plays excellent, cause I crank this song up sometimes, when I get a chance to use the stereo in our living room since it's the only one with a tape deck! ^_^

  • FYI, this song came out before the MJ look (1983 and early 83 if I remember well). This was a pretty original sound in it's day.

  • @blacksnk - The sound for this song is pretty original but the MJ look was already out by 1983. MJ started that look in 1982, actually kind of going back to 1981 since he was wearing stuff like that by the end of the Jackson 5 "Triumph Tour" in 1981.

  • Michael SMACKson. Get smacked for that MJ imitating... but at least the song is banging!

  • When he says "OOOO you are in my system" I assume he means his anal canal. Nice dancing.
