@TheYipedo I find your remark to be offensive. The issue at hand is choosing a deaf child or a HEARING child. Nobody said anything about not choosing a HEALTHY child. The Deaf woman made it clear in the video that being healthy has nothing to do with being a hearing person. And choosing a deaf child is not AT ALL like your example.

Very nice little video here I stumbled on. Jumping right into the issue, I think it's completely despicable to systematically CHOOSE a deaf child over a healthy one. It's like naming your child something really funny, even if the name means something deeply sentimental to you, you still caused unnecessary suffering for the child. Choosing a deaf child is much worse than that. I'm not saying deaf people can't be happy, but there are some things in life that shouldn't be taken away from any child.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS FILM!!! Congratulations you guys! I'm confident that you will win first prize based on all the criteria you are looking for. It's a beautiful film and very thought provoking....I hope to discuss this with my classmates and maybe even at a coffee night with the community. I know how much time and hard work goes into making film so bravo! You've done an amazing job with this. :)

great job ben! reproductive tehcnologies bring with them so many interesting questions/dilemma...and the video is so captivating from the very beginning!
Gerrit, I liked how you left this ambiguous at the end. It leaves room for speculation... what did she choose to do? Tough questions with even tougher answers. Thought provoking.
This is great subject matter for a discussion of the issues surrounding reproductive medicine and genetic screening. I loved the animations too - very concise. So what did the parents choose in the end?
The film, at least from my perspective as a viewer, was made to shed needed light on a very interesting topic. It provokes some good questions of a broad audience on a subject that remains controversial. The film does not assume a stance on whether or not the "designer babies" trend is right nor wrong, but it does however, create a great forum for the deaf and hearing alike to think on the ethical issues that are presented to us with today's scientific advancements. What a beautiful film!

Great film. I thought it was really well considered in respect to the ethical questions posed by new developments in DNA screening. It's nice to have a clear insight like this into current topics in medical science!
Doesn't that undermine your whole point? As for the discussion in the film, nobody mentions music. Or blindness. If the same option were available for that condition would any parent deliberately choose to have a blind child? Respecting the fact that deaf and/or blind people have a culture and are not "disabled" is fine but choosing it for a child?
@pygormus good question - we discussed having the whole film silent, but decided that as its intended for both hearing and non-hearing audiences that music and spoken audio would be appropriate
It is absolutely beautiful - I was actually really moved by it! The reflections are showed in an excellent way! Congratulations with your achievement, I really hope you guys win the contest with this!
I think this is a fabulous video, awesome acting and touches an issue that we need to think about. The filming is beautiful and moves the viewer, well done!
Made in BC...is more shocking to me! :) It is nice to know there is a better film than Gallaudet Film or Convo commercials *no disrespect to them* for being the most natural film production ever on deaf people. This clip ranks up there ...at the top to be exact in my book . You guys ought to send this clip to Deaf Film Festival in Toronto soon!
