  • Someone using Vista is more peculiar than someone using Windows 3.1!

  • Give your cat some food, she/he is crying!!!

  • PLZ TELL ME WHERE U GOT THIS!!!!

  • meow.... meow.

    meow......

  • thats funny that your computer had a floppy drive to actually install 3.1

  • @daveyv12345 no shit

  • i was installing xp and it said you fucking neeeeeed the product code

  • @bobalonia024 search the product code on craagle

  • you still have an A: drive and you're running Vista? wth? lol

  • how do you uninstall virtual pc 2007

  • @narutofan12able1 You go to Start>Control Panel>Uninstall a Program and just pick virtual pc andit will uninstall

  • @vmelikian thx appreciate iti uninstall'd it manually

  • where to download the virtual pc

  • continue da boott

  • Ok, This was a REALLY cool treat for me since I am studing for my MSTC at this late stage in life. But to see Windows 3.11 running in Virtual PC is cool. Now where did I put those floppies...Thanks

  • does it slow down you computer by a huge pace on vista? just wondering

  • This was my first OS. I kind of forgot its flaws already so to me it's a nice memory ;)

  • SO...how did you get it to work without having any trouble? It's on Vista, 64-bit I'm assuming, so did you download something special aside for Virtual PC itself?

  • I ♥ Canadians!!!!!

  • Xzibit would appreciate this video

  • ok but no one answered my question at all u guy just hate lol

  • the point is to save u lots of money :P

  • WORKS BLLODY FAST THOUGH EH IF ONLY IT WAS like that back then in the day eh

  • whats with all the heavy comments some people like to play about like this especially if they have old software they want to enjoy again O;)P O;)

  • Comment removed

  • what are you talking about? its called VIRTUAL PC it emulates a computer. installing an OS on it doesn't do a thing to the computer.

  • Erm... I know what a virtual PC is... I code myself... just seems a bit daft that you want to have an ulimately faster PC emulate something that was useless in the first place... tel you what... why don't you follow all the steps shown in the vid... then get windows 3.1 (running in virtual PC mode) to emulate an atari ST... or spectrum??? lol... Some people have just got too much time on their hands...

  • does anyone have a download link for windows 3.1?

oh, and never heard of a screencam?

  • same prob cant find a download of disk for it

  • aaahhh vista my nightmare!

  • Do you like windows 7!?!??!? its the best one YET

  • For your information: DOS is required. The install won't run outside DOS, and plus, win 3.1 is an operating ENVIRONMENT for DOS, so you're really running win 3.1 inside DOS. In summary you do need DOS and 3.11 is NOT AN OS LOLOLOL!

  • what a waste of time

  • "ahhh, lets go into the control padel"

  • "wow its fast!"...

why are you so impressed man? win3.1 is so old os

  • guys can some1 explain to me how this works? and if it gets a virus like if i wanted to test stuff will it affect my real comp, either during its infected state or if i uninstall it?

  • ive used windows 3.1 (not virtual pc)

    ITS DISKMANIA!

i do have vpc, with win 7 on it

  • this wont work on my windows xp but i have a old ibm computer in storage with windows 3.1 this is the first time ive seen virtual pc looks really high tech man nice job

  • wow. i always wanted to see what Windows 3.1 is like, because my first computer had Windows 95, and when i first saw a computer with Windows 3.1, i was fascinated with it ever since. ^.^

but is it possible to download Windows 3.1 to install on Virtual PC? just curious.

  • just Google it im sure u will find it

  • OMFG 6 FLOPPY DISKS WOOOOOW

  • shit camera -.-

  • Thnx for telling me. I was going to get VirtualBox.

  • Sadly, Virtual PC 2007 cant run on Windows Vista Home Basic

  • No, it can. It's just that Microsoft doesn't support it. Which means if you have any questions they won't answer them. It says Windows Vista Home Premium isn't supported, but it still works.

  • MS VPC sucks anyway. Try VirtualBox if you want to keep it free, or VMWare if you want some really awesome emulation. Both are available for Windows and Linux. Honestly, VirtualPC is unholy...

  • yeah it can actually i use it on mine ignor the erros it works perfect

  • good!

  • Wow I remember I installed Windows 3.0 on a real dos machine using 1 cd and it took 30 seconds for the entire installation.

  • I hear a kitty.

  • windows 3 was the first os i used i was 3 and it was my grandma's

  • omg. me2.

i was 2 or 3 years old when we had this version at home.:D

    that's real nolgastic.!

  • I have a sudden urge to track down a 3.1 CD and dual boot from it, and relive my childhood. Imagine how that would go:

Windows: Which disk would you like to install windows 3.1 to?

    Me: C:

    Windows: Installin....wha....wait.....5...500 gigabytes?

Windows: WHAT IS THIS? A FREAKING SPACE STATION?!?

    *BSOD*

  • @tipoomaster Well, that was funny. Actually, tough, it won't install to a partition larger than 2gb, the largest capacity FAT 16 can handle.

  • ca you send me an hmm iso file of those discs i would love to try that! :)

  • well... take it from me, ive had more than 10 computers with windows 3.1 on em,..... and ALL of them sucked... the operating system in general sucks. dont miss it AT ALL

  • man..... lol why would you do that?... i mean, why would you 'want' to do that? lol

  • I want to do that myself:D Cause this was made in 1992 and i'm born in 1996! Now I'll test it:D

  • Does any1 know if Microsoft Virtual PC can be install and run just fine in a Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bits? I visited the Microsoft website and apparently this OS is not listed in the supported operating systems for this software....

  • microsoft says they dont "support" home premium but it still runs fine I have it on my vista home

  • what exactly does this do?

  • windows 3.1 works much better and faster on dosbox, i recommend using that.

  • Well, that thing you did has no point at all. Is not something hard to do. The default color depth is 16 colours, res 640x480, no sound drivers. No LAN card installed. I have installed Windows 3.11 in a Pentium II 300Mhz, and works with a colour depth of 32 bit, res 1280x1024, C-Media sound card, Network, TCP/IP, Internet. I have installed AOL Messenger, Windows Messenger, ICQ, Mp3 Player, Netscape, Internet Explorer, Office 4.2 and more. Not big deal.

  • dude. who cares....u are the looser...all he is showing is Virtual Pc. not showing off 3.1....for people who want to see VPC.

  • Roket is right...

  • What? Is there any offficial MSN Messenger client for 3.11???

  • The Internet does not exists.

  • congratz you now have a PC almost as fast as my phone

  • it is working bus senseles. cause as I know only with 16 colours default resolution and no sound. cause actual hardware does not support the 3.1 drivers.

  • i like ur cat :DD

  • Why dont you use a screen recorder?

  • Screen recorders create a file size that is unneccessarily HUGE! I made a 15 minute one and it was a full gigabyte large. Ridiculous. I could compress a dvd movie that would take up about a gigabyte, so 15 minutes isn't worth the added data.

  • whats the big difference? besides tcp/ip support.

  • It's still part of Windows 3.1x.

I just hope to obtain an actual Windows 3.1 OS package (and an external 3.5" diskette drive) so I can use it on Microsoft Virtual PC on my laptop. There's somethin' for me to work hard for. XD XD XD

  • why didn't you copy all the setup disks to the harddrive then run setup, so we didn't have to sit here waiting?

  • How do you install Windows 3.1 in Virtual PC? How do you have the disk? Please, I need to know!

  • 3.1 <3

  • can you give the VHS for download??

  • i mean VHD..... XD

  • you can download it from strangebutfunny . com

in the navagation area select weird downloads and in the old windows selection (no download limit!)

  • is this a demo for virtual pc?

why install windows 3.1 and not something that shows off the hardware simulator or something like that?

  • Dude... you miss the point...

  • Cool, man!

    This is really ZEN!

  • ummm okay, cool, but why.

    "Insert disk 3"

This is actually like watching paint dry.

    And I think that's why it's amusing.

  • cd's back then could barely hold any memory so they used a lot of disks i guess

  • you can download it from

    nextgen[dot]ucoz[dot]es

with all boot disks etc. ready to use in virtual Pc.

  • torrents suck

  • virtual pc is cool

  • What the FUCK do you know, I have the same Laptop.

  • were did u get the boot iso image?

  • Your cat was warning you not to tamper with Vista already unstableyness!

  • CORRECT

  • lol

  • Funny how this guy uses the menu to close a window, rather than just double clicking the top left icon (which still works in Vista). He clearly didn't use 3.1 when it was current :)

  • I didn't know that, cheers.

  • 3.1 was awesome.

    It had Minesweeper.

  • Wow I remember using windows 3.1 when I was in kingergarden and in elementary school... I am getting old.. =(

  • Floppy? What's a floppy? HA.

  • Bad kitty!!

  • meow... meow... meow...

  • OH MAN I SO REMEMBER 3.1 HAHAHAH it's classic. used to be just one window and if you wanted to play a game you had to enter ms-dos prompt

  • vmware fails aswell get virtualbox.

  • virtual pc epic fails. get "vmware workstation"

  • well i would do that :) cause vista is working as bad with updates as trying to get a cd-rom working under Windows 1.0 yes there was one before 1.1, 3.11 was a blast against thatone hope there will be a vista 1.1 running like that

  • now it's installed what are you going to do with it? I was supporting 3.11 until 4 yrs ago so would have been useful then. cheers

  • why would anyone need or want to do this?

  • Why would anyone NOT want to do this?

  • yolkerman :because its f***** cool to run and " see " a so old operating system!! :D:

  • i used this operatign system for the first 6 years of my first computer. it sucked. let's move on.

  • i alwais get this error

    "

    Booting from hard disk...

    Cannot load from harddisk.

Insert Systemdisk and press any key.

    "

when try to boot from the "Dos Virtual Machine Additions.vfd"

someone know how to make it work?

or another way to install win 3.1

  • Try using Virtual Floppy Disks.

    It runs faster :)

  • where to get Windows 3.1

  • Hey,

After seeing this on your video I decided to try it myself...

Just in case you were interested, I was able to get the sound working. You need two files: sbbasic.exe and s16dw3up.exe - I found them on some drivers site online for free...

Put both files into a folder on the root drive and run then - they will extract install files. Run basic first and then dw3up second. Just go with the default settings and you should have sound when you reboot!

  • Does messing with the OS and other things in the virtual PC mess with the actual computer?

  • no it doesn't

  • ridiculous waste of time...

  • I'd rather see an Amiga run under Vista... ;)

(Actually, that's been out for years...)

Have you tried using VirtualBox? Also free, and faster than VirtualPC too...

Lastly, Mac sux and Linux is for wankers, nah nahnee nyah-nyah!!

  • can you do linux on that instead of using vm ware, that costs $300

  • yup. ive used linux on vpc several times.

  • "The sound's not working."

Typical. Windows can't even work properly with Windows!

  • hahaha so true

  • haha.. your cat :)

  • Btw I meant the formatting screen.

  • Why does the 3.1 installer look like the Windows XP installer?

  • Microsoft follows the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality. Which is good, because if they spent all their time fixing what ain't broke, the OS would be even worse off!

  • I was thinking the exact same thing! I was like... huh? That looks just like installing XP!!

  • lmfao... that thing is instantaneous

  • cool stuff :D

i'd like to try that too

  • id like to see vista running on 3.11

  • It's amazing what a virtual hard disk can do!!!!

  • To get sound and stuff you have to mount the Virtual PC Extras CD and install the drivers.

  • I learned windows on 3.1 which is sad

  • My friend and I put a copy of windows 3.1 on a gateway from 2001, and it runs better than XP on his emachine. He it on 6 5.25" floppies at a thrift store. I found a 5.25" floppy drive in an old 386 rig that I found in our attic.

  • "windows 3.1 is definitely working .." and faster than a vista lol

  • Wow, u still have a floppy drive... I think theyre outlawed over here now, lol

PS. I wonder how gubbed (broken) your machine would actually be running windows 98 on a vista machine... i think the universe would possibly swallow itself whole

  • I wonder that how fast does Windows 3.1 work on the systems today? :) Like a rocket? :)

  • nice cat xD

  • I agree

  • fuck that that blow not crahs

  • ROFLMFAO@!!!!!

  • wow the installation menu is exactly the same as XP! 1:20

Feel the progression in motion of windozeeee.

It just shows that everytime they release a new OS they just add new stuff. no changes to anything, just more stuff. hence vista slowness

  • Yeah that tripped me out too! I've never installed 3.1 before so I never knew.

  • cat meow meow meow

  • Ah the good old days, lol. I am so going to install 3.1 like this when I get vista in a few weeks. :p

  • It is dahs.

Maybe is dohs in Spanish ;)

  • Is DOS really pronounced "dahs"? I thought it was "dohs".

  • It doesnt really matter.

  • hey

i've got all the necessary disks to install 3.11, and I'm trying to use virtual pc, but when I begin installing it says "setup is unable to create the specified directory". I've tried chaning the directroy etc but it still doesn't work. Anybody got any ideas?

  • "There's MS DOS booting" Das Boot!

  • You all know what the opposite of a noob is? A chronic masturbator. Guess we have a lot of people who aren't noobs.

  • i dont care if hes a noob.. he brought back memories.. and yea that 3.1 loaded real fast lol

  • meow meow :D

    awesome tutorial

  • superb,, who the hell dislike the voice!! Mutherfkr !!

    Voice quality is great

  • wow ur a noob

  • You fail too, sclek!

  • this guy is a noob

he talks to much about what he's doing

we all have setup windows before start with a blue screen then goes to a gui

    learn to use MSVPC properly

  • FAIL! You fail at this, ryan! Even if he's a noob, he knows how to use this properly!

  • what is your problem

  • What do you think? He knows HOW to use this software.

  • Virtual PC emulates a SBAWE32 card. To get sound in Windows 3.1, just get SBAWE32 drivers for Win3.1 and install them.

  • i hate ur voice

  • what u mean... its pretty good... sounds kinda like Nomad from Crysis

  • Does that work on XP?

  • Yes, try qemu :D

  • I used that once to run Linux. Haven't used it with Windows yet though...

  • The cat is clearly saying "I need to poop and the box is filthy; clean my box jerkface!"

  • I remember that OS so glad 95 came out and even happier with 98. I found my old 3.1 disks not long ago and I still can feel the pain. Pet your cat it'd be better time spent.

  • feed ur cat.

  • omg...cat in backround
