I love the Jane Morgan version. There is an interesting disjuncture between the French original and English translation. To the Anglophone ear the song is ominous, about cruel fate. Almost a funeral song. Hence the lyrics. But the original is really a celebration of the variety and eternal youth of Paris...always the heart of a lad.
OMG! Flying fannys! This is great vid, and Jane is such a toots!, what a beautiful voice and countenance! She chose the high road and stayed away from Hollywood and honed her skills and style being the toast of Europe in the early 60s, good for her. Yeah, she might have been unfavorably seen as another Jane Mansfield with a better voice had she allowed herself to be exploited by Tinsel Town. Nice lady, but man...again, she is just smokin' hot...OOoooo!
It would be interesting to live in Europe 60-40 years ago... I like both this music and this style.

Sous le pont de Bercy
Un philosophe assis
Deux musiciens quelques badauds
Puis les gens par milliers
Sous le ciel de Paris
Jusqu'au soir vont chanter
Hum Hum
L'hymne d'un peuple épris
De sa vieille cité
