@Tootie414 Ronnie Drew, one of the greatest Irish folk singers of all time (Luke Kelly may be was better I just can't decide) (look up "The Dubliners" or Ronnie Drew or even Luke Kelly for some legendary Irish Folk). (Even try looking for "The Pogues" and "The Dubliners" as they did a few songs together and more than a few pints)

I think "Matilda" sung by an Aussie is always best, but the raw, gritty quality that this lad gives to it, is something else.

@biggmick1 Well said. Ronnie's way of putting a song across was so raw and real that whatever he was getting across held that same quality. Luke . . . Luke was a treasure as well. High King of Balladeers, unmatched forever, in my opinion. All the Dubs were (and are!) so human--I think that's their appeal. So, Tootie should just delve right in and lookit some of their work!

@Tootie414 Listen to Eric Bogle and John Monroe in his last few shows before he stopped touring. His voice has gotten deeper and more mellow, which adds more depth to the song.

Another great Eric Bogle song is "A reason for it all" check it out.
