It is crystal clear that McCain misheard the woman mainly because she pronounced Zapatero's full name with a strong spanish accent, so! McCain was not sure who the heck she was talking about. Then later he could not understand her accent, listen to the way she asks and the way he asks "me what?" her accent was very strong and wasnt too fluent, especially when she asked the question for a second time.

When she initially referred to Mr. Zapatero, she said "would you be willing to meet with President José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero?". Which is A. incorrect, as Spain has a Constitutional Monarchy and Mr. Zapatero is the Prime Minister, and B. she said this extremely fast using a Spanish Language pronunciation. I think McCain "winged it" as best he could, and when she clarified he felt had to "stick to his Guns".

If you take off the blinders and listen objectively to this and many if not most other McCain clips, it's inescapable that he is a very fuzzy, confused guy who depends almost entirely on others for his information and policies and often forgets what they've told him.

Remember, this guy finished at the very bottom of his class even before the POW experience and the onset of senility. He is clearly very similar to George W. Bush in both lack of intelligence and lack of curiosity.

Spain is a NATO member. It was the victim of the worst al Qaeda terrorist attack in Europe.

Zapatero was voted into office lierally hours after the Madrid train station bombing ... mostly due to his countrymen's rejection of Spain's part in Bush's War. It was Zapatero who promptly withdrew Spain's troops from Iraq.
