I personally like C.o.B and they are the only reason I even came across these guys,if not (because of COB) I probably never would have. You forgot there exists a level beyond almost everything....called Jari Maenpaa! That is as far as my mortal sight can see, there are other levels that can only be seen by hard/experts on your list...take necrophagist guy as an example :)

I personally love their older stuff most like The Third The Magical, Heroes To Us, Hades, or They Will Return, but wow, they can change their style a bit and never disappoint. That's hard to accomplish for most musicians, Kalmah FTW!

hello everyone, i would like some advice on how to write melodic death metal riffs and songs. if it helps my main influences are kalmah, ensiferum and old children of bodom but i really respect all melodic death metal and i love it. i would really love and appreciate any advice you can give me. thanks in advance.
I love how Kalmah manages to capture the romantic, youthful, passionate spirit of the revolutionaryt in the music, especially the solos. They're not merely jamming or shredding.
These guys pretty much singlehandedly got me into melodeath. Without them, I'd probably still be listening to Korn and Slipknot, not knowing how much better stuff was out there.
well im a huge meoldic death/tech death fan and this just dosent cut it for me...reminds me of somthing around 90/93 metal thrash whatever...its not shit but it isnt good... no elements stand out for me to go on and buy an albulm or listen to anymore hahha... so really its been done before nothin new PASS

@fluffeesh I'm honestly torn between Swamplord and Swampsong. I'm tempted to place 12 Gauge as number 2, but it needs to stew some more for me to judge. For The Revolution would be in last, but I still very much enjoy that album. Kalmah does not produce anything bad, just some is more amazing than others.

Gotta say when my friend told me to check them out I was hesitant cause he said the best band ever, These guys really do sound amazing, one of the best guitar licks out there from what I hear, however I am more partial to The Black Dahlia Murder and Abigail Williams. This band still sounds pretty amazing and I will defiantly keep them in mind.

Kalmah is very well known in the melodic death metal circuit. Its only a mater of time before the emo and hardcore kids abuse it and turn a great band into a mediocre one. I'll still listen too them but sometimes part of a bands charm is the fact that not EVERYONE listens too them.

These guys pretty much singlehandedly got me into melodeath. Without them, I'd probably still be listening to Korn and Slipknot, not knowing how much better stuff was out there.

well im a huge meoldic death/tech death fan and this just dosent cut it for me...reminds me of somthing around 90/93 metal thrash whatever...its not shit but it isnt good... no elements stand out for me to go on and buy an albulm or listen to anymore hahha... so really its been done before nothin new PASS

@fluffeesh I'm honestly torn between Swamplord and Swampsong. I'm tempted to place 12 Gauge as number 2, but it needs to stew some more for me to judge. For The Revolution would be in last, but I still very much enjoy that album. Kalmah does not produce anything bad, just some is more amazing than others.

yeah I find that too. none of kalmah's stuff isn't epic; It's all amazingly good.
However I wouldnt place swamplord, swampsong or 12 guage in the top 3 of kalmah's - personally.

Gotta say when my friend told me to check them out I was hesitant cause he said the best band ever, These guys really do sound amazing, one of the best guitar licks out there from what I hear, however I am more partial to The Black Dahlia Murder and Abigail Williams. This band still sounds pretty amazing and I will defiantly keep them in mind.

Kalmah is very well known in the melodic death metal circuit. Its only a mater of time before the emo and hardcore kids abuse it and turn a great band into a mediocre one. I'll still listen too them but sometimes part of a bands charm is the fact that not EVERYONE listens too them.

Under almost every metal video I've ever seen, there are always tons of comments that are basically: "I think this is shit" followed by, "Dude, your mom is shit."
I think it's amazing how under all of Kalmah's songs, the feedback is unanimously positive :)
