Hi I wanna email u, but perhaps I'm not finding your email address. Global Tel Link is the calling service and it's sourced out to 714 area code. The facility is Solano County and 707. I setup the Google Voice number and a a local number very close, but concerned for whn the inmate will attempt to call, it'll prompt me to setup. I saw some of the cheaper ones and perhaps if I could just provide the local number, but really want to be cost effective. Thx

if tht caller is calling the local number but thn i fwd it to my phone from google voice it would prompt me to sign up with GTL ....is there an option around this??

@cocomaisoul I do believe most all facilities require a prepaid account im not familiar with Gtl email me some more info about where you are and the company and i will try to help you make the right decisions.

@cocomaisoul most will have you set up a prepaid account.You will not be able to just accept collect calls directly to your phone bill as days of old.in most cases.ii looked up gtl i did find a service that is only a prepaid service.I

@cocomaisoul f this is the case with you then you must put money in a prepaid account to  accept a collect call.these companies should allow a courtesy call to so you to talk to your inmate and set up service. @scampmeshi...this is what I did.i went n get a number from Skype for 20$for three months with area code closest to facility..the rates dropped enormously ..2,50$to accept call as opposed to 3,95$and 10cents every minute as opposed to 1,15$every minute .my bro hasn't tried calling number yet but it should work.hope this info Is useful to others..and plz keep me updated if there's something better scampmeshi, thx man!

Scampmeshi, I live in Kentucky and my friend is an inmate in New Jersey. When setting up my account with Google Voice, I accidently created one with a KY number instead of a NJ number; is this a problem?

@frechieguy Yes, you need to have the number set up as close as you can to the actually facility .

Need help...I'm Canadian living in Quebec ..my brother is an inmate in corrections facility in Middleton massachusetts.only way he can call me is by me having set up an account through a third party company

In Texas called Securus ..they fuckin clip me FFs ..Canada doesn't have google voice.plzzzz help there's gotta be a way!

I live in pinellas county and py son is in pinellas county jail. even though we are both local they charge %.00 per minute how can i get around that??

@ixamxstr1 This is a complex yet simple scenario.The company that provides the service charges to connect your call.If you are in the nearest location.Example ,less than a mile from the jail you still are required to pay the connection fee.I suggest if you live fairly close to use visits if possible.If you have paid a company to save you money on an existing prepaid account you are wasting money. in your case try the google voice account and get it as close as possible to the jail.

@ixamxstr1 Even in the same county there are different area codes.If the area code is different then set your account to the jail's.This should save you money in the long run.Even the money hungry companies tell you that you will see savings more if you receive multiple calls a month, Unless of course you live really close, then you must pay the connection fee any way.hope this helps . feel free to message me with any more questions i will respond.

So the jail my fiance' is in uses SecerusTech for their phone service and when he calls it is an 866 number, does this work for that too?

I was wondering; Global Tel Link is the company that handles the collect calls. My BF is in North County Correctional Facility, also known as wayside, (which is county not state prison) in Castaic, CA. The area code of the prison is 661, and my phone number is the same area code too; but when he calls collect it goes through global tel and the area code is 713. My first question is; in my case, since our area codes are the same, getting a new number is pointless right?

@sublimetheused Hello, even though the area code is the same the distance between calling parties can cost.I had a friend that lived only 5 mins away from me we shared the same area code yet when i called on the phone there was a long distance charge. two things to try are getting your number thatt you set up closer to the facility or

or even try setting up a 713 number.Remember i was ripped off by one of these companies.The information provided here is to help us save money.The account is free try them both and tell us how it went.It may help someone else too.The fact that you are not paying an outside company to set up the account saves you money right away.

Also if you are 661 and live in the antelope valley castaic and santa clarita could be long distance.So if you live in the antelope valley try a number from Castaic of the 713 hope this helps.Feel free to message me with more detailed questions if you need more help i will respond.

Sorry, I'll be more specific. I'm trying to keep in touch with an inmate in Pinellas County Jail, and the service they use is Global TelLink. By setting this up, and using the google telephone number, would the cost of collect calls actually go down?

Here's another way to get free collect calls...I got home one day ant the phone rang...i answered and heard "you have received a collect call from: it's your father I will be home late so pick up your brother from football practice hang up the phone NOW!!!!"...he said it super fast...
