@hollidome1 True enough, although some of my other videos show them with more responsive crowds. This was their first time at the House of Pain, which is really a pick-up bar for the ad agency types in the River North area in Chicago. That they were able to get this crowd revved up at all is a miracle.
Look for my videos shot at Knuckleheads to see them at a real blues club. Or some of the crowd clips shot at last years Warped Tour.
The kids are their biggest fans. The Big Damn Band does for this style of blues what their label mates and good friends Flogging Molly does for Celtic music.
Thanks for posting these BIGDAMNFAN. i'm one hell of a big damn fan myself....and its good to have some vids to watch of rev since he's not gonna be in my neck of the woods anytime soon =(
IF YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN REV PEYTONS BIG DAMN BAND, THEY'RE A MUST SEE!!!!!!!!
Don't be late to the show. They are touring with Jason Webley and I saw him for the first time tonight at the Beaumont Club in Kansas City. He puts on one hell of a show and does a couple of numbers with the Big Damn Band.
Saw these guys in Richmond, VA last night, and they're unreal, just a hell of a good time. That man's got a voice that doesn't even need a microphone, just huge.
Saw them open for Flogging Molly at House of Blues couple weeks ago; was a forking awesome show! I wish this song was released on an album, as well as the song where they have the audience scream as loud as they can during the guitar breakdown. Was so much fun!
Just saw these guys open for Flogging Molly in Chicago. Hands down, best opening act I've seen yet. They did a fantastic job hyping up the crowd. By the end of their set, I thought they might actually be able to put on a better show than FM. (By the end of the night, I was undecided.)
Indeed. A couple of years ago, the band visited the home of some friends after a show to jam. After a while, the other guitar players stopped so they could watch and listen to the Rev. After one particularly amazing bit, one of the players (a guy who had been playing guitar longer than the Rev had been alive) asked him if he had a knife. The Rev replied "Yep!". And the guy said, "Can you cut my arms off?"
I just played with these guys this past weekend at the Roots and Blues up here in Canada. I had to fill in for their drummer who was turned away at the border. Such cool music and people.

@bigdamnfan My favorite version of this song is one that you posted where the train pulls in right in the middle of the song. That was epic.

Is he even using words? It's just a series of H-vowel noises. This is the greatest band ever.
ltmajorcrunch 2 years ago
Yes, there are words. Not a huge number of words, granted, but words never-the-less.
bigdamnfan 2 years ago
Regardless, it's still an awesome band.
ltmajorcrunch 2 years ago 3
Rev doesn't so much *sing* the words as gargle them.

bakaAE86 4 years ago
I think of them as "Delta Blues", but the Rev describes their sound as "Country Blues".

Oh man they are so great live.
Redrocks man Redrocks.

This band is so great it makes me sick. I just found out about them by accident today, found their website, and ordered both CD's and a T-shirt.
This is like delta blues music from the freaking 30's or something. Wow. I can't wait to get my music in the mail.

What? No offense, but I can't imagine the band without Jayme - hard to fill in for a drummer who has been playing with a guitarist their entire life!
