Most clown fish are $5 wholesale. The markup is the Pet Store (Scam) to cover the deaths of the other 5 they kill. The pet industry wants to sell more junk to keep them alive than what is actually needed which give the impression "It's too expensive". Although I do not condone the keeping of fish in tanks I do recommend you research BEFORE you buy.
n u claim tat saltwater fish keeping is more expensive n difficult to keep ? while it does appear to be more expensive, do u kno that fresh water planted tanks re even more tough to keep than reef tanks ? its ppl like you who contribute to giving something a bad name when in reality u kno nothing bout ! stop discouraging the average beginner hobbyist .
you can verify wat i ve said from many scientific journals ! its true that many species of saltwater re fished from wild but the industry is working on breeding as we speak as wild specimens re disadvantageous to the aquarist. most collection centers re being developed to handle catching n transporting in a safe n sustained way ! n if u think satwater hobbyists re careless bout fish, fresh water ppl re ten times that ! the fact tat u think clown fish costs hundreds of dollars tells u kno nothing
while it irritates me how u re claiming something u ve absolutely no idea about, im going to refrain from verbal abuse. first of all im a hobbyist just like most ppl n i m not biased towards the pet fish industry. pls get ur facts straight regarding over fishing of the reefs for the pet fish market ! compared to most industries it is the most eco friendly ! take for instance coral fragging n exchange or captive bred specimens like clownfish or dottybacks ! most re dieing due to global warming !
oh well when i get my tank i will try my hardest to make sure every fish gets along which they should since i have researched this for many months and then will breed them naturally (no sponges to catch the fry just anemone and the fry have to survive) but it should be amazing and unfortinutly this vid has the opposite effeect on me i want to do something about it so i will help my fish
u are stupid... T___T and biased, yes some (saltwater) fish come into comercial sale and trade by being wild caught, but the likely-hood of buying these fish in your local pet stores is extremely unlikely. Thanks to places like the ORA and governmently funded organizations 95%+ (estimate) of fish being purchased for the aquarium trade is captive bred, tank raised, and has never placed a fin in the ocean.
hey d bag! do you eat seafood or are you a fucking vegan who only eats plant products and recycled cardboard. Go plant a tree you fucking dumb ass. How often do you see fish catching station when you travel. This is a major source of income for many countries yet is a drop in the pool compared to the construction and food trade. If you want to save the world why don't you man up and completely eliminate your carbon footprint.
