  • When they said ramp, they weren't shitin'....why not put in a rollercoaster loop too & really make it fun?

  • brakes??????

  • My father drove I5 in calif., for years. On one trip, going down hill on the South side, a truck went into the runaway pit. Even though the pit worked as designed, the truck stopped faster than his trailer. The 40ft. trailer was ripped open and spilled it's load on the highway. Coffee in cans, were strewn across5 lanes. People were stopping and picking up the cans all over the highway. Cars whose drivers were doing between 60 and 90mph, downhill, had to brake dodge these dumb asses.

  • @homskoult they sound smart. free coffee! so FUCK YOU & YOUR DAD FUCKIN DOUCHE BAG HOMO!

  • @domrox58 That must reply must have taken all three of your brain cells, to compose. You are right about your life being worth a three pound can of coffee.

  • talk about a half assed built runaway ramp

  • another idiot who doesn't know that pea gravel must be spread out from 6 inch's to 2 feet of depth in order to stop a truck safely. hope the idiot still isn't employed by the city, state, or county... where do they get their teaching from ?

  • No keyboard cat here?

  • the fuck is wrong with these drivers

  • WTF, that isn't a runaway ramp, that's a fucking TANK TRAP

  • what the fuck is a runaway ramp and why the fuck are they so fucking retarded to even build something like that

  • @polzowatel I think I know who the retard is.

  • @polzowatel unless done properly coming down a long steep grade will heat the brakes on a truck to the point they dont hold any more. this is a runaway. runaway ramps are for these trucks to escape to before they cause worse damage to property or people. this one was graded badly.

  • @supressorgrid ohhhh thanks for explaining, still its pretty stupid.. could just set the speed limit to lower or run water down the road in one lane at least, germans have much better solutions

  • @polzowatel Truck speeds on most grades are set about 45 mph. There are places set aside at the top of the grades where it is MANDATORY that you do a brake check. You should go down the grade in at least one gear lower than you went up it. That is all it takes.

  • @supressorgrid well cruise control brakes with engine mostly

  • @supressorgrid Or they could just do there mandatory daily brake inspections.... And use there engine more to brake.

  • Very bad construction of the runaway ramp.

  • trucks can be wild?

    Wild snorlax appears.

  • run away ramp it is like it is OK go fast with heavy load

  • This guy is like ''This is me giving a fuck''

  • Kocham tego Lektora

  • Hey! There's a guy with a pro camera setup. Way to get on TV!

  • I have a question. Why did the guy make the tape and show up on TV instead of telling the issue to the government?Look at the condition of the road.If there will be a robbery.Would you go the scene to take videos instead of calling 911?That`s ridiculous.

  • @joyteedon It's a escape tape on mountain piece of highway - altough of shit)))

  • What's a runaway ramp??? And how can you NOT slow down on a side road that looks so ugly??? xD

  • @HelenaVanCity On roads with a very steep grade like 6% or more (6 foot drop over 100 feet) Some trucks can overheat their brakes causing brake fade (hotter the brake drums get, less effective the brakes are) and the trucks speed out of control. A runaway ramp is a spur off the roadway filled with deep loosely packed gravel and rock that the loaded truck will sink into to stop them. The one taped,,,, well its not how they usually work, usually the truck sinks into gravel and stops safely

  • @TheRetiredtrucker I remember an episode of CHIPS titled "Runaway Truck". It shows a box truck with no brakes on a steep decent. The driver is shown pumping the pedal which keeps sinking to the floor. The question in my mind was, why doesn't the driver downshift to slow the truck? I guess it was just a tv show but even in a car I downshift on grades to avoid fading the brakes. And modern autotrans cars don't allow the trans to shift too far down for the speed to avoid overspeeding the engine.

  • @Nivicoman For downshifting , it depends on the speed the engine is going. Generally a heavy diesel engine has a maxx governed R.P.M. of 2100. if you are already goin say 1800 rpm and you pop it oit of gear and miss the lower gear, the truck will speed up on the grade and you may noe be able to shove it back into the gear you were in, now your going down the hill in neutral, with no brakes...very bad

Drivers are responsable for inspecting truck, and keeping brakes adjusted porperly

  • @TheRetiredtrucker Thanks a lot for the explanation! But there're a couple things I still don't get (sorry, I'm a very amateur driver, and don't drive a lot)))) What is a "runaway vehicle"? Is it one with failing brakes, like you describe? And how does the whole thing work? You're driving along a highway, and then... ??? I mean, how do you know you need to take this runaway ramp? Or is it like a regular road you have to take, on your route? And because it's steep, they fill it with gravel? Thnx!

  • @HelenaVanCity Ya runaway is when the driver has lost the ability to control the speed of the truck. We use the trucks engine and Jake Brakes (that loud growling sound trucks make) to help slow the speed the trucks going. Really shouldn't be using the brakes at all on the hills as long as the driver drops to a low enough speed and gear. Sometime tho, you can misjudge the hill. If the brakes are used too much, they rapidly heat up , and the drum expands away from the shoes...

  • @HelenaVanCity ...so as the brakes overheat, the more you press on them, the more the drums expand, the less the brakes work...its called "Brake fade". Driver can tell , its gradual but very noticeable...having to press harder and harder on the pedal (can actually see blue smoke in the mirrs too, from the brake shoe linings actually starting to burn, very scary). When the brakes have overheated, its too lateto try and downshift to a lower gear, .....

  • @HelenaVanCity ... so the only option the driver has on these hill if that happens is to try and run onto these ramps, at the speed they can reach running away,,,,it is pretty much fatal if you try to just drivr into the ditch. The ramp is designed for the truck to sink into a bed of very loose deep gravle to safely stop the truck (dosent always work tho) but better then nothing. These ramps are only really found on mountain roads or very steep hills...

  • @HelenaVanCity ... you can relax tho, it's very rare that a truck goes out of control. We have to do a full inspection "Circle Check) the rig every day, checking the brake adjustment is one step.

Hopefully someday north american trucks will follow the european example and all switch over to Disc Brakes (Like your car has) Brake fade is almost eliminated, but were slow to change over,,,companies complain about the costs and problems getting parts on the road.. hope this helped

  • omg! america exist only on tapes!

  • I'm puzzled... I thought runaway ramps were for very rare incidents. How can a ramp get a reputation as being dangerous? How often do trucks run out of control?

  • The video is pretty interesting -- I think I'd at least edit or cgi the footage to show myself NOT standing in one spot rather than lending aid, even though I'm using a tripod. He might as well have just pissed into a styrofoam cup and offered it to the driver in case he was dehydrated.

  • this runaway truck ramp was not built correctly

  • @MegaBearslayer Yeah either that or the weather or time turned it into the lameass deathtrap it was by the time this happened. LOL

  • What the hell is a run away truck ramp? WTF???

  • @mickblock Runaway truck ramps are posted on the downhill side of mountains on the freeway, it is a offshoot from the freeway for trucks whose brakes have failed. It is supposed to be a flat deep bed of gravel about a 1/4 mile to a 1/2 mile long. It basically sucks up the truck and stops it, somewhat safely.

  • what the fuck you think is gonna happen when you put giant speedbumps of gravel on an offramp for an out of control truck, how completely stupid

  • u got insurance????????????

  • The Dude taping it probably fucked with the truck stop ramp so the next truck would be fucked, and he'd have it in camera

  • Only in America

  • "I got it on tape. Who cares about the driver, lets get out of here!"

  • oh i think I got sand in my vagina now

  • hahahahaha wounder if he was playing that annoying ass general lee horn on the CB when he did that

  • @pilgrim15801 ROFLMAO

  • I've lived in carbon county my entire life and YES this is real footage. It was a Blue Ridge Pressure Castings truck, before they re-did the runaway ramp. Oh and by the way ,that was Gene "Snitsky" the WWE wrestler that was the driver ,before his wrestling days of course.

  • lol this sounded like 1000 ways to die

  • SOLID....SOLID !!

  • HE WOULD BE BETTER OFF STAYING ON THE ROAD WAY Ô¿Ô

  • if i was the driver of that truck, i would sue every single one that involve of making that shit bump.

  • All fake!!!!! Its all planned!! What are the chances of that really happening when the camera man is just shutting footage of an unsafe run off ramp? Come on guy!!!

  • @whtbufful how is that fake? just cause the chances aren't good doesn't mean its not real

  • @whtbufful this is not fake at all...i dont live far from this ..and what you dont see is how steep and long the hill is that the truck is coming down ...not to mention ..if he did not hit the run away ramp..he could never make the next turn coming up ...it is 100% real ...even in a car you have to be careful of this long and steep hill

  • @whtbufful yes because coincidence doens't excist in this world .... seeing a man drivving a truck without protective gear crashing it , just for a camera stunt....thats pretty far fetched don't you think?

  • truck ramp? WTF is that shit seriously people are retarded, its to obvious that its fuked up and would cause accidents

  • @nixxxon18 its a runaway ramp. look it up.

  • .....EPICNESS

  • ill bet that guy was like WTF JUST HAPPENED!

  • pwned by a hole :S.

  • are you OK?

ahhh yeah im alright just lil bumped up....

  • guys in beggining are funny

  • well the truck stop! lol

  • stupid ..they should have made it a incline with gravel about 3 ft thick so it would slow down slowley

  • @whatsmyname252 3 inches??

  • Mean Gene Snitsky before the wrestler days...OY!!!

  • Дороги Латвии 2011 :)

  • Cameraman says exactly what would have said.

  • Known as "escape lanes" here, that one is badly installed. It should be a long deep bed of loose gravel to slow the truck down, not a few heaps dumped some way down a track. There's one down the road from here, it's about 3 feet deep and has done its job more than once in slowing and stopping runaways without damage.

  • The driver was all, good thing im a russian juggernaut.

  • @GTRKNIGHTRIDER They are placed on mountain roads, sometimes on those steep slopes the brakes give out and the big trucks can not stop, so they put them to the side, this one was abnormal because they had yet to grade out the area those piles should have been raked out they use rocks so the tires bury into the rocks and it slows down the trucks real fast.

  • @GTRKNIGHTRIDER like a trunk might have lost its breaks or sumthing and he needs to stop so they have these around long highways atleast thats what i think

  • what the hell is a runnaway truck ramp?? and why would you put gravel on it...that shit ant gona stop a truck...think some little retards with a sence of hummor put that big ass hill on it

  • @460faust No it will and does stop a truck. This ramp wasn't installed right but most of them are flat and there have been multiple accidents prevented by them.

  • OMG... Thats a hard man...

  • 1word: DAMN!!

  • Ive seen lots of wild animals, but thats defintely the first time Ive ever seen a wild truck.

  • Blind und dann ohne Blindenhund !! Ha-Ha-Hi-Hi........

  • How about INSPECTING those damn brakes, like, beforehand? Over here, if a car for example has 30% braking power difference in left and right brakes on the axle, it won't be allowed to drive before the fault is fixed. Not to even talk about if it doesn't have enough braking power for the total weight at all. It sucks to have your own car fail at inspection, but at least doing that every single year minimizes mechanical faults.

  • Don't sign anything that your company wants you to sign regarding any accident or incident. If your company tells you that you will be fired if you do not sign their CONFESSION, then sign it "Under Duress" That's right sign it just like this: "Under duress, intimidation, and coercion YOUR NAME HERE. By doing this you have just voided the confession while still following your companies request to sign. This qualifies as free unabridged speech protected under the First Ammendment.

  • @alltvisanimated Yes, and they are also free to fire you.

  • @ardvarkkkkk Yes and you are also free file a civil lawsuit against your Company and even your immediate supervisor for violating your First Ammendment Right to Free and Un-Abridged speech. You do have the right to your own words and nobody can take that away from you unless you LET them. If they threaten to fire you just remind them of the potential lawsuit that they will be involving themselves in. Just sign it "Under Duress" and let them TRY to find a legal way to fire you and not be sued.

  • @alltvisanimated Better check you're local laws. I live in Washington (state). Here, an employer can legally fire you for any reason or no reason at all with no legal recourse.

  • @ardvarkkkkk Better check your United States Constitution, it is the law of the land and it superceeds local laws.

  • @alltvisanimated Show me, in the Constitution, where it guarantees you a job.

  • @ardvarkkkkk Maybe YOU should just let them walk all over you. What do I care if they screw you, I mean I can only point you in the right direction but the rest is up to you. After all you ARE a truck driver and not an attorney and you probably don't understand the concept behind the Constitution and the fundimental freedoms and liberties it was designed to protect. The constitution is only a document and requires your interaction for it to be applied. Read the Constitution and open your mind.

  • @alltvisanimated Try this: Tomorrow when you go to work, tell your boss that this job really sucks. When he fires you, claim a violation of the second amendment. He will simply tell you to get the fuck out. The second amendment means the government can not suppress your speech. Anybody else is free to tell you to shut the fuck up.

As to me being a truck driver, yes, I guess you could say that as I drive my Ford Ranger to work and back every day.

  • @ardvarkkkkk Nobody can force you to MAKE a statement that you DON'T want to make.

Sometimes silence is the most powerful of all statements.

    Oh yeah...Ford Ranger's SUCK!

  • @alltvisanimated First it was the right to speak, now it's the right not to speak. Are you confused?

  • @ardvarkkkkk You stated..."The second amendment means the government can not suppress your speech."

I think YOU are the one who is CONFUSED, the Second Ammendment gives us "THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS" and the First Ammendment is THE RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH. Next time do some research before you open your Pie Hole. Furthermore, I will be blocking you because I don't see the need to continue this debate as your are begining to annoy me.

  • @alltvisanimated And I made the correction. You still have not demonstrated that you have any knowledge of what you are speaking. Go learn something. You start to spout rights that you don't understand and it may well get you into trouble one day;

  • @ardvarkkkkk Correction: First amendment. Reading one thing and typing another. Doesn't work sometimes.

  • ёбнутый челок я его рот ебу

  • that gravel probably settled too much and lost it's ability give like it would when freshly dumped,

  • @tbirdsport302 There is no way gravel can be soft enough to prevent what you saw in the video. Hitting a pile of gravel is not much better than hitting a wall.

  • Was that truck carrying comically-large soda can tabs?! lol @1:27 Those two rings together in the middle make it look like it...

  • XD iwas going to drive on that road on my dirt bike but now there is a truck in the way

  • That guy has BALLS !

  • Shit i got that on tape hahaha!!!!

  • the Truck slowed down , didnt he? its a success :D:D:D

  • So stupid!

  • was he carrying rims?

  • STAGED!

  • Government genius.

  • And a new sport is born, truckocross.

  • that runaway ramp was re-designed. no more mounds of dirt.

  • "Hey Jim how can we make this a emergency stop for big rigs?"

"Lets put a big pile a dirt there"

  • @Writersblock39 bloody jim...

  • I love how the first thing he says is "I GOT THAT ON TAPE!"

  • That was not the roads fault. That was the braindead drivers fault.

  • @RiffRaff3169

Actually, if you've ever seen a runaway truck ramp, you'll notice that they are usually smooth, but filled with gravel, The very beginning of this one had a hell of a lip, where the truck got air off of.

    It wasnt the driver's fault.

Those ramps are used by ALOT of truckers daily.

  • WASTED!!

  • he frickin cased that landing

  • cheap truck

  • Them dang Duke boys!

  • well the gravel pile is3 feet high, what the hell are they thinking.the gravel should be even all the way to the end of the ramp. shit you drive a car in there and hit the pile and the car would be doing the same thing....

  • wtf!! i thought the roads in ireland were bad!!!!!!

  • @ellegreeko lol its not a road, it's a run-off ramp for truck that lose control. They often have these in hilly areas. This ramp is meant to stop trucks but this one did it a bit too well.

  • @Ryantravisaol i should have put lol after that comment some people might get confused!!!!

  • @ellegreeko lol sorry mate, some people really don't know the difference. i find myself explaining a lot of things about America that people never would have imagined. Almost looks like a fun trip though huh?

  • lol

  • That's a camera man/journalist for you. Most people would first yell "Call for Help."

His was first repsonse was. "I got it on tape"

  • @jpd782 Acuualy it was "Shit! I Got That On Tape!"

  • @gta370001194 he dont want to swear

  • @jpd782 wrong, the first response was asking him if he´s alight...

  • you are an ass

  • lolololol....

  • It's stunning that it was built/left like that... that's government workers doing their typical best

  • This was in Pennsylvania, where dipshit public employees manage the roads, what do you expect?

  • Well, in all fairness, it stopped the truck. So it worked.

  • @ttk1opc lol, fair point :D

  • should of had a v8!

  • Poora que idiota em vez de avizar o cara preferiu filmar.

  • exhibit A !!!!!!!!!!

  • Ist doch nen super verzögerungswert..... dahinter könnte man ohne schlechtes gewissen zu haben einen Kindergarten bauen.

oder einfach ne 3 m dicke stahlbetonwand.....

  • the ramp was re-build latter , they made it safer...

Thumbs up so every one knows...

  • @freedomlifee You fucking retard. REALLY? Your gonna' post that CRAP on here? GET A LIFE.

  • Anything would cause a crash if you approch it at that speed.

  • @nipperlings its called a runaway trcuk ramp for trucks which have los tthier breaks

  • If you film runaway truck ramps your just asking for it...lol

  • hang on let me get my kfx450r and head out to the nearest truck ramp. now i can practice lap times on the whoop sections!

  • oh it slowed it down alright

  • Well DUHHHHHHH!!! What did they think was going to happen if a truck hit a huge pile of gravel or two? :)

  • Seems like fake...

  • @ZwiReKProductions Only fake around here is poland, 2nd rate european power, no wonder germany steam rolled you, or you don't believe that one either.

    You people with the fakes.

  • @KG84C at least we have a history, tell me somethin about australian history and fighting with aborigens

  • @ZwiReKProductions how does this even lok fake????

  • running into the trees would have been safer than that.. lol

  • That accident would have hurt so much for the driver. He's lucky that head injury wasn't worse.

  • what a stupid set up

  • thats no road?! wtf but i think the driver was a little bit too quick but the road is xD ?? why is there a road end?

  • @Sciaolalala runaway is for trucks losing brakes or like so no surprise it was going that fast, the truck is supposed to be stopped by the gravel, well, it stopped but the truck is totaled.

  • this woulda been an awesome video if they'd added a dukes of hazzard horn when he caught air

  • your fucking stupid but your funny lol

  • @SuperFuckwad speaking of stupidity, its 'you're', not 'your'. herp derp

  • Where he's going he doesn't need roads.

  • hey i never know AXN got chinese subtitle.....

c'mon, the guy is lucky to find that road than have to jump from a cliff....

  • a guy made it alive after crash and hes asking "are you all right?". does it look like hes ALL RIGHT?

  • 1:27 truck gore

  • should be smooth, but bumpy is wayyyyyyy better

  • "Bumped-up" should become a mainstay phrase after this!

  • I smell lawsuit...

  • Looks like they need to put a little more thought into the design of this ramp. Jeeze! Hey you folks with the Pennsylvania,,, go look at some proper runaway ramps, like in the rocky Mountains in Colorado, Arizona, Washington state. They are supposed to stop them, not destroy them.

  • das sieht schon jetzt richtig schlim aus aber wie säh es wen stat der LKW ein Auto wäre das wären Tote zu beklagen oder schwerverletzte.

  • Wow.. so what was the follow up?

  • "I got that on tape!"

Fucking douchebag cameraman just sits there filming even after the accidents done and over. The driver coulda been killed or seriously injured for all he knew, and he just sits there filming.

Way to be, compassionless douchebag filmmaker. Way to be.

  • Whoever designed that ramp must have had a smile on their face...

  • OH MY GOD

  • he was hauling ass

  • thats penn dot for ya!
