  • props for the finger pickin...\m/

  • Should have more Jason in it ...playing whit pick is more fun for me :)

  • that's a sweet bass

  • nice bass man and nice cover!

  • yes the bass is black! :D

  • 5/10

and its a lot more than ur cover deserves

  • We could hear the beiginnig of Justice for all =D

  • *oh by the way the original bass track in on the related videos for this one

  • nice dude! there's actually no bass on the intro, "only" 4 distorted guitars in a reversed track. but it actually matches, so it sounded good.

nice tone as well! and beautiful bass

you can actually find the bass track somewhere in youtube but god, this was amazing!

  • Is that little riff/fill at 1:52 actually in the song? If so I've never noticed it. If not then thumbs up to you man, that sounds cool as hell.

Overall pretty awesome job, too. Impressive.

  • asi debio sonar en AND JUSTICE FOR ALL,, xd

  • Jesus beautiful color and beautiful bass!!! Good job NO GREAT JOB!!! Metallica is hard to master!

  • Jesus beautiful color and beautiful bas!!!

  • Damn this hard bassline. Thank you,Jason!!

  • amazing tone of that G&L!

  • I was wondering, out of all the unknown bassists out there why do most of them play the bas up high. Is it cause a lot of you if not most use your fingers to play. But i mean you can be playing like steve harris loll low bass and finger playin hahahaha. anyway maybe its cause i play really low i let my bass hang to my knees and i play with a pick and im in a horror/punk/grunge/metal band and i have a gothic emo style anyway loll rock on to all the bassists out there

  • @glenmatlock94 i agree i play my bass hanging to my knees and use my fingers

  • @glenmatlock94 I play bass too and I go by the general rule of thumb, If they can see your crotch, You're doing it wrong

  • @skozy2 hey dealers choice, But WTF do you mean if they see your crotch youre doing it wrong?

  • there is a bass line james and lars just turned it like all the way down

  • it still freaks me out how some people's thumbs can bend like that! (good cover by the way!)

  • Great !! I love the sound from G&L ! And I prefer this song played with the fingers

  • Theres bass in this song? wow

  • Great tone and all, but don't be afraid to grab a pick for those triplets. There's no shame in it, and eff anyone who says otherwise in the ayy. \m/

  • i think that thing you did in the intro and the actually bass lines should have been in the original album they shouldn't have took it out

  • Great tone! Sounds really similar to Jasons tone. The only way I know what it sounds like is because I looked up the Master bass tracks on youtube, you really couldn't hear it at all on the album. Much respect for playing a song by a pick bassist with your fingers. R.I.P. \M/etallica

  • btw there is a bass line on the original recording, but since it was jason's first album with metallica his bass track was so quiet you couldn't really hear it

  • do you have any problem with the amp?

  • Such a tiring song with the fingers. I can see why Jason used a pick.

  • @EarlNuce lol he always use the pick cus of the sound

  • that bass sound it's beautiful :B

  • lightstevo i have been thinking that same fucking thing

  • i cant hear the robert trujillo playing bass when metallica plays live... wats the point of bass then???

  • well if you took away the bass, you'd notice a hell of a difference. ;) there is some vid somewhere where rob has a problem with his bass.. try to find it and you will know how important the bass is.

  • Your ears are obviously painted on.

  • @LightStevOo either your speakers quality isn't that good, like my macbook's i can't distinguish the bass sound with em.. also metallica's bass lines are always low, if you go live you will notice the lines.. I play bass, and when i miss up on one of the notes i notice the difference. some bands uses high bass volume try to listen to Cowboys from hell by pantera you will notice the difference with and without bass :)

  • @LightStevOo The bass is literally the base tone of the song, it makes everything meld together, not letting the guitar stand out unless they want it to. and if you can't hear the bass you must be deaf of not trying enough.

  • yeah AddoExitium is right, there is a bass line on every song, but because it was Jasons first album, and with the bands situation at the time, they literally mixed out his bass lines from the final recordings.

  • about what you said in the description, there is a bass line to blackened, just like every other song in the justice album

  • lol

  • I think that is what he means

  • good job man!!

  • man you call this hard? If this is hard for you you won't even be able to play anything from iron maiden or rush. You played tom sawyer which is more complex than this song.

  • Imo it's just the speed and precision this song calls for that makes it somewhat tough... It's not "hard", but my band have been trying to play this recently for an up-coming Metallica tribute gig, and it's "hard" to make it very tight and solid at live tempos. If you slow it down slightly, it's pretty easy.

  • its a proven fact that finger base is better

  • To solve the pick problem...if the original bassist used a pick, use one, if not, then don't. Happy?

  • wwoww so good i love the bass! is that bass expensive?

  • sound awesome ;)

  • godd job bro. every song on this album is a beast to play.

  • Try to play with a pick when you play Metallica at bass, but only pick down, it gives to your sound a better attack and more violence ( and it seems like Jason sound :p)

  • Because, like I said, play with a pick gives more attack in your sounds, I don't think that blackened is a love song so, I think he should play with a pick.

  • picks are for pussys

  • no!!!!!!!!!!! only use a pick if your playing songs from 1988 to 2003

all other songs you play with FINGERS!!!!!!!

Cliff Burton and Rob Trujillo FTW!

  • stfu. noob

  • wow

    your a loser

    a faggoty little loser

    1983 - 1986 = Cliff Burton (fingers)

    1986 - 2001 = Jason Newsted (pick)

    2001 - 2003 = Bob Rock (pick)

    2003 - present = Rob Trujillo (fingers)

still gunna call me a noob you little faggot pussy?

cuz i know more of this shit than you apparently so just go away and leave us alone you little bitch, kay? alright bye ;D

  • calm down. maybe u were concived with a weak sperm, thats why u get angery off the bat. i was mearly commentin on the way u tell people they have to play cliff n rob metallica with their fingers. sumone can fuckin play anythin anyway they want. u god dam nazi. haha. if only u even new who u were talkin to. lol

  • well if your a Metallica tone freak you should do it the way i displayed it in the comments

i dont give 2 fucks about who im talking to, ok?

you just seem like any regular quiff-faced cock-sucker so i dont really care who you really are

    byeeeee ;D

  • hahahahahaha. u can really tell ur a metallica "tone freak" from ur videos...haha, which r ...awesome..i jus wana say. man so gud. well done...

  • hhahahahaha

the fact that you dont realize i record it with a cheap digital camera, i dont plug mine straight into the computer

    hahahaha faggot

i try to help people with their tone so they can get it as close as possible to the album version, then losers like you come on and try to start a fight because hes got nothing better to do but puss out and play bass with a pick

    fuck off faggot

  • i wasnt starting a fight. uve taken this all a bit to heart. didnt sound liek u were tryin to help sumone, jus soudned like u were telling them wat to do? wen they didnt even ask for ur advice? u think ur sum kind of metal guru? ur jus sum little kid. calm down. u put ur videos up n there gona be exposed to criticism. i dont care if u dont like mine, or the way i play. thats ur opinion. well done, ur entitled to it, jus like everyone else.

  • well a guy said that you play all Metallica songs with picks, and i was saying that if you wanted to get the tone right like they did in the studio, you use what they did in the studio.

and then you tell me to shut the fuck up and comment on MY videos and you say you wernt trying to start a fight?

if you want the bass to SOUND like a bass... use the fingers, using a pick just makes the note jump out and then thats it, its an annoying tone

  • that was awesome

  • the song is made for a pick

  • no its not

  • G&L or Musicman?

  • G&L Tribute L-2500, blueburst with maple neck

    READ THE INFO

  • either that is a very small bass body or your hands are PLATE SIZED (a compliment)

  • Yeah there is a bassline in the original recording, they just mixed Jason nearly all the way out of every song on Justice.

  • Comment removed

  • That's an absolutely ridiculous theory.

  • There is a bass line on the original recording you idiot. It was just turned down.

  • yeah i hear you have a mac because of that retared click noise with the volume button! nice cover with your fingers, thats impressive

  • keep up the good work...i don't often say this about youtube covers but this is very good!

  • Where did you get the tyabs?

  • use the fucking google

  • the bass is there in the song just not so loud if you come across the original versions of the and justice for all recordings......youll be wow glad they didn use that but yet again jason was new and they didn want him gettin glory cos his bass lines tore that shit up ......METALLICA FOR EVER THOUGH

  • At 1:15 you make fuck you to us ???? lol

  • yh indeed..........wierdo

  • you fuck i own a g&l L2500, it wernt fuckin cheep.

  • good job man, u do any solo / improv stuff?

  • nice

  • i'm goin to the metallica concert on the 26th of october in des moines iowa!!! =D!!

  • there is bass.. but its barelya udible.. i can still hear it tho..

  • Actually, there's a bassline on the record. It's just almost impossible to hear without some major EQ adjusts. The bassline is hard, no doubt about that. I think you should try to listen to a live recording of the song, I think Jason threw some pretty wicked fills into the mix. Overall this is a really good cover.

  • top work 5*

  • is that a new bass

  • G&L dude they're the FREAKIN BOMB!!! im thinking about getting one.

  • Dang thats awesome!!
