A version very close to this (I think) was played on the radio a lot in the late 70's early 80's. I heard it often on WAVA and WWDC in Washington DC. It may be the same one as then, nt certain; been a long time.  Great version of a classic tune.

I saw Petty sing this 1979 or so down Cape Code Col.

He was young and I was younger. But I remember his voice cracking....Or it sounded like it.

it was the ball ;;Beach all day.. . Hot as hell ( Backing up J Geils Band ).

Those were the days . Mesc and weeds sales were threw the roof in the parking lot.
