i get it le mans has the history, but when he said "could compare there ingenuity." sorry i find that kind of worng. maybe it was true when le mans did not have the chicane on the straight. but, how is le mans a tougher track than the nurburgring?
the nurburgring also tests the engine down the straight, but then every 4 or 5 laps the cars need to come in for new tyres, and fuel. and not to mention they need to change the brake pads as well.
The problem is that Speed TV's coverage is terrible - it doesn't go for the full 24!! This past year it not only broke for F1 qualifying (which I don't mind (I enjoy FIA Formula 1), but it also broke for NASCAR (National Association of Stupid Crap Auto Racing)! IF you want to get full coverage, you can get great commentary and news with RadioLeMans...
Damn, this is some good stuff...I'm still looking on the net to find a video(DVD) of Porsche crushing victory over the Toyota GT1 in 98. Toyota spent nearly 1/4 BILLION, that's right 250 nillion to beat the 911GT1, and if I remember right, it stalked the Toyota for some 22 hours and then pushed it until it broke, finishing 1-2 across the finish line..payback for a devotion to great engineering and this race since 1951.
Im looking for the 2010 Le Mans vid that Speed did around the 12th hour...any1 know what im talking about?

You're running full throttle a lot longer ;)

so all that does is test engine.

I stand corrected then. Wasn't it 1998 then where the Toyota GT1's had all their gearboxes fail?
zytekfan 5 years ago
the leading GT1 had the gearbox problem with an hour and a half left, the other had the accident i think.

i think they crashed out with tyres problems
