My mother is still alive and I make time for her, we meet for lunch every month and talk on the phone. Our family was a shambles growing up but we are both working hard to make the most of the time we have left as mother and daughter.
I agree you and Shari are wonderful parents. You're children are so lucky to have that.
P.S. I think Romeo wanted to put his two cents worth in. He had a mother once too. xo
Since my dad died, I try to speak with mother every day. Sometimes she would go all day with only the cat and dog to talk to if I didnt. My greatest fear is being old and alone.
Chris's video was so touching and I was in tears while watching it because of everything we are going through with my dad. Thank you so very much for doing this response...you really drove the point home and it's so wonderful to hear you talking about it.
So few people who become parents have much experience with independence or the long term consequences of wrong decisions. It's little wonder we often make poor decisions when guiding others.
Well said, my dad passed away 9 yrs ago, he was admitted into the hospital early summer and never made it out, I never had the chance to tell him how I felt, don't think I ever forgave myself for that, I'm still close to my mom, try to visit her once a week but I'm still dealing with my demons and don't want to unload on her
I wish I could give you a hug hon... I've very sorry about the loss of your father. I'm glad you and your mother are close though. I wish I loved closer to my mom to visit her. Big hugs to you sweetheart..
My Dad and I weren't that close, but during his last week in the Hospital, we bonded... and for the first time I realized he was scared and human, not a super power that never stopped. I visit my Mom everyday and I know she won't always be here. I amazed at how much she loves me and I need to let her know how much I love her... Our family always kept affection hidden. I will so my best!
I agree with you totally Gina. I'm glad I told my parents I loved them while they were here, and I still tell them I love them and miss them. i would like to add, tell your parents how proud you are of them, for the sacrifices they made for you, and just for being who they are. I didn't say that enough. Hugs, Kev
@photo2010 Kevin, I hate to admit it, but I don't think I've ever told my parents this. Talk about an eye opening comment you left. I'll do this today! Thank you very very much my dear one. I do hope you're doing well.. I think about you often, and send my you love and prayers..
Oh lovely. It was a great video, as was yours - whether you still have your parents or not, it's good to take a moment to appreciate them. Chris has a good heart. Thank goodness for YouTube for bringing people like her and YOU into my life! Hooray.
just want to say a mother doesn't have to be the one who gave birth to you. in my case i had a wonderful mother (who is now deceased) and i loved her a great deal and wish i could phone her now.
also have a birth mother come back into my life in the last month because my sister has died. this birth mother just wants money and nothing else. she'll never be a mother in any form.
the one who raised me and was there for me when i needed her most, that's the woman who is (was) my mother.
@incredingo I couldn't agree with you more. Biology has nothing to do with parenting. Sticking around, doing whatever you have to, to keep your child in your life. Putting them first before yourself... And if you are reunited at some point with someone that had to do with your creation, they have to come from this unselfish point to sustain value. I can't believe this has happened to you. It just makes me sick to my stomach. So wrong. Write me on FB if you need to vent. xoxo
I cried watching this. My mom right now is ill and i think of the times we fought....sometimes over stupid shit. Now all i think about is the good things and the laughs I've had with her. I love her so much and I make sure i tell her every time we talk.
My love to Shari & the kids...gonna go watch Chris now...I friggin love her!
@PrincessDiana161 Diana, I'm so sorry you're mother is ill. It's an awful feeling, isn't it. When I was needing my kidney transplant, my father tested to be a donor. They told him he was in the beginning of kidney failure. Recently, he started to urinate blood, and I have been in a panic ever since. His mother passed from kidney disease, and to worry about my father maybe getting sick from it is a horrific feeling. Do you mind if I ask what's happening with your mom Diana?
I love my sister dearly and appreciate that she can speak from her heart the way she did today. I was crying watching her trying to find the right words...and I know she came close to breaking down many times as well.
@nancyleeould nancy, There must have been an angel next to your mother when both of you were being made, because I have learned so much from both of you. What a wonderful gift you two are to this world. xooxooxoox
I'm glad, for a change, that I watched my videos oldest from newest to see Chris' vid before yours :) Her vid was awesome. It is a great reminder ...
My mom had a friend who passed recently. She said her friend's daughter was "too busy w/ her life to ever call or visit" & I get it. I get caught up in my day to day life, but when I have my family time (& I share those times mostly on vid), I realize we need to do it more often.
@silverscreamgrl Beth, Your comment reminds me of that song in the 70's. I can't remember the name though. It's a story about a boy whos father doesn't have a lot of time for him. Then the boy becmes a man, and he doesn't have time for his father. It always makes me cry. My heart would break if this happened between me and my kids. I wonder if there's a guaranteed action to take so this doesn't happen?
@ItalianStallionette ..and the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon, little boy blue and the man in the moon...when you comin home son I don't know when, but we'll be together then dad, you know we'll have a good time then....
I came back to reply to your reply and was reading some of the lovely responses and crying a little and I think that's the song you're looking for. Cat's in the Cradle. :)
Wonderful response video Gina! I had to wait to watch Chris' video till I got home from work because I knew it would make me cry. I still have my mom and she lives with me. She is my friend as well as my mom and I feel so lucky to have such a good relationship with her. Chris' video just made me take a moment to appreciate what a gift my mom is to me and what a gift it is to have her living with me so I can spend more time with her.
@AmethystButterflyGrl Amethyst, wasn't it a wonderful video. When she starts showing emotion, it really touches your heart, doesn't it. There is something so gorgeous about watching someone vunerable... HUGS!
@ItalianStallionette It can also be wonderfully liberating for the person being vulnerable. Hard to do for some, like me, but letting the guard down is so freeing. I don't have to tell you this because you do it all the time. I just love your videos, Gina and I want you to know you've made me laugh and cry so many times.
Awe, great response video, Gina!!! The video Chris made me cry and wish for a closer relationship with my mom. Hugs! Okay, when did I lose my subscription for you? DANG --It's my fault -- I kinda got lost in FB and forgot about YT for a while.
@ItalianStallionette I just finished watching a few more of your videos..... Awe you were so shy in that one where you talk about your kids going back to school but you are coming out of that shyness --- made me laugh this evening! GREAT to see your videos!
Wisdom! Time is too short for those regrets so be a fool if you have to and say what you feel.
