why are people still comparing muay thai and mixed martial arts and kung fu... You have to remember the prupose of each martial arts is founded for.... Shaolin Kungfu is founded for spirituality and defending their temple... They are not taught to kill or even harm people they don't even hurt flies... muay thai and MMA are fighting sports that's why practitioners are taught to deal the most damage to the opponent if possible...
Sad to say, most westerners and foreigners will never obtain the true meaning and purpose behind Shaolin Kung-Fu. Unlike Americanized martial arts and MMA cage fighting, Shaolin is not just physical fighting, but more of a spiritual lifestyle. The true essence of Kung-Fu will never be achieved if it is separated from it's spiritual core.
Gsus7125, when you don't know what you're talking about, don't make stuff up.
Westerners are looked up to by Chinese people. They're part of the cool, western culture, movies, television shows, cars, Harry Potter. Chinese people work long and hard so they can live a western lifestyle.
@AppleSouffle you are so full of shit. westerners are invasive and self centered. eastern culture has tried very hard to distance it's self from westerners, and so far has succeeded. you are simply playing into that self centered culture westerners have assuming you are the best and everyone wants to be like you. maybe if you took you head out of your ass you could notice that
@TheAdrokk Your a dumb fuck, self centered? lol NO.. more like they mind their own business and worry about having inner peace.. rather then trying being openly social about many things. You kid, need to do some research on the actual fact of Buddhism and shaolin before speaking.
@AppleSouffle u really have no clue do you , most chinese don't give a shit about america, if you havn't noticed they are the new world power, 1.5 billion people , did you see how many people train from childhood in the art of kung fu... lots , america has how many people ? 400million? so what america has hollywood, china as a country has pulled outta the recession and is full steam , wheres america ? starting warz with other countries and butting in other peoples business <more debt ,
@gsus7125 i doubt the true masters of kung fu are racist because the more chi running through you the less hate you have in general. its un-buddhist to treat people like that.
a hour of finger push ups i can do 4 and then i just cant do it anymore hurts your fingers and not like i gave up easyly i broke my finger doing it once
@vallgron I'm not some kung fu person just some random guy on youtube, but maybe it has to do with your diet...Causing your bones/tendons/etc in your fingers to just be too weak to adapt properly to finger pushups. Not enough nutrients maybe.
Amazing, but alas I have looked and sought and found that Shaolin Kung Fu is not the greatest in one-on-one. The practitioners are uninterested in competition, even to obtain knowledge of greater technique to better themselves.
@gjkristi There was a case of a Kung Fu master vs. a BJJ fighter and the Kung Fu guy did great at first when it came to striking, which he had an advantage in, but the BJJ trained guy took his time and was able to get in and once he got him on the ground where his Kung Fu was weak, it was over after a lot of struggle.
@Makron5 The entire point of the kung fu is to learn "greater technique." If what you meant by greater technique is how to fight mma style like most ufc fighters train, it would be a tough case to say that is a better type of fighting to learn. In a "street" fight, shaolin would win without trying. I know nationally ranked tournament level martial artists who went to shaolin camp in china, and were awed by the martial skill of the monks there.
@LordBrian89 I mean how to fight unarmed. In a lot of cases a bit of grappling technique will help you. Long term grappling really only breaks down in scenarios where you are outnumbered. Also MMA is almost a street fight except for the no kicks to the balls thing and no weapons.

Seems white students are outcast and must train alone. Better off staying in America than endure racism.

If they trained for UFC, they would dominate. Unfortunately, they do it for very different reasons.
