  • Other rockers slow down when they get old; they just don't play like they used to. Peter still plays like at 25 year old only with more knowledge and experience. His playing got BETTER. Glad he's still at the front instead of locking himself away in the past.

  • what more can i ask, Cornell with Santana, Slash, and Frampton....he is with the greats!!!rock on...

  • frampton is a killer guitarist.......great to see him mixing it up with the heavy boys of rock........wish i was there......nobody sings like cornell...... wicked power

  • I just got home from seeing Peter Frampton in concert. He did an instrumental of this song as one of his encores. Absolutely amazing what he can do with that guitar!

  • In early 1969, when Frampton was 18 years old, he joined with Steve Marriott of The Small Faces to form Humble Pie

unfortunally he had a black hole with frampton comes alive.

but with this black hole the sun is also back

  • wow so cool.

  • Peter Frampton is one of the masters. Just saying....

  • @dmansanches there is quite the difference between this, and Show Me the Way, and every other song he created. You just have to listen. It's almost the same way with per se AC/DC. I told my dad he'd like the new album if he actually listened to the music and didn't just hear it. Other wise it would sound the same, or in other words it would all sound like AC/DC's specific sound. Am I makin sense or should I just stop typing. I'm sorry, its late and I just want people to understand music more

  • @vanhalendreams Can I buy some pot from you?

  • @dmansanches I didn't think I was THAT out there :P

  • @vanhalendreams I get what you mean. Like AC/DC, if you listen to is for the literal sound, it's all the same "AC/DC Sound". But if you listen to it musically, it all has its differences. As with Frampton, he is my favorite artist, and sure, literally sounding, some of his songs can sound similar. But musically, on the deeper level, they are all way different and have their own meanings and themes.

  • @ThatRipOff YES! Exactly what I was goin for, struggled with it, but I couldn't agree more. Thanks dude

  • @vanhalendreams No problem, man. Glad I could help. :D

  • @dmansanches ahahaha Not to be a dick but you should be at least a bit sorry. You really gotta expand your music intake and honestly listen to this cover (or any other Frampton for that matter). I get where you're coming from, I really do, but if you need to compare the original Soundgarden version and AFTER listen to this one, you will notice similarities of Chris Cornell's voice and Peter Frampton's "voice". If you really appreciate fine ass music, you can hear the beauty of PF's guitar

  • @dmansanches Get a grip, This doesn't even sound close to "Show Me The Way." Frampton flat out brings it when he is on stage, catch him on tour if you like serious guitar music cause this guy still has "it."

  • @HasinaiMan Sorry dude. Music major, and I still say his "it" is a constantly recurring motif, coupled with an overuse of the talk box.

  • @dmansanches You can say that about any distinctive player, Pat Metheny for instance has an "IT" that recurs,

Al Di Meola, Larry Carlton, Roben Ford all of them have a recognizable and recurring motif. Peter Frampton has an inventive, melodic style that certainly explores more musical territory than your average Rock Jock-if you don't like his playing- cool, but you can't fault him technically.

  • @GalaxyHorse Yeah, I know, man. I was just trolling around, honestly. I just got pissed that the first responders asumed they understand music... I will give Frampton this, though: Hell of a lot better than Journey... But, to say he "explores more musical territory" is a bit of an overexaggeration...

  • Fucking great!! I wish Framton would've done the talk box chorus like on his version

  • It's fitting that Frampton is playing here. I remember C.C. saying Humble Pie was one of his musical influences. Come to think of it the way he uses his voice is alot like the late great Steve Marriot.

  • :58 damn it peter! lol

    awesome cover \m/

  • @dgester Hey, Frampton had it right! The rest of the band skipped the 2nd half of the verse!

  • I WAS ON THE FRONT ROW!!!!! BEST SHOW EVER!!!!

  • don' t underestimate Frampton ! The man can play and always could .He is more than just the talk box guy .

  • Most wonderful show EVER!

  • rcrase, those other dudes are Chris' touring band for his solo album "Carry On".

  • When Frampton croaks, it would be a shame for him to be buried without a Les Paul around his neck. I mean, THEY ARE ONE.

  • anybody bring chris a guitar!!

  • @SebaChannel NO NEED - FRAMPTON is there!!!

  • Fun! It's neat that Chris does music with other bands, but who are they? I mean, I know it's Peter but who are the other dudes? I guess it doesn't matter since they're NOT Soundgarden.

  • THIS IS FUCKING RAD.

  • Even though the music is great and old school can collaborate with new school.. IT IS THE MESSAGE THAT ROCKS :)

  • Frampton and Cornell=epic win. This is a fanboy dream come true.

Is that the original guitarist from Soundgarden back at the back? It sounds like him...but it could be the effects board.

  • @Gawainster Definitely not the original guitarist. Kim Thayil still has his long hair and epic beard.

  • @mrnikko419 Sweet stuff. Say.....what would happen if Kim Thayil, Billy Gibbons, and Serj Tankian formed a group, hired an equally-bearded percussionist, and started touring? Would the resulting awesome cause an actual black-hole?

  • @Gawainster That would be so fucking bad ass! And no, it wouldn't form a black hole, it would make a black hole sun!

  • @mrnikko419 YES! Well played, sir. I bow to you, for I totally missed that one. Serj over Thayil's guitar......damn, dude, that would cause our sun to collapse from sheer epic-ness!

  • @Gawainster I Believe it would .

  • To see that a legend like Peter Frampton could be influenced by Chris Cornell just shows how excellent both of their geniuses are.

  • 15 people were instantly sucked into a Black Hole Sun and never returned after rating this video.

  • @wannaplayscoot fucking 15 emos deserved die.....

  • I saw Peter doing this cover in Buenos Aires Argentina. Great song! sounds really great!

  • Im glad chris is back with SG so he van now have a good band.

  • who the hel could hate this song

  • This is great.

  • Peter Frampton with Chris----AWESOME!!!

  • I doubt anybody was holding the camera. It was likely just on a stand or something.

  • Holy Fuck. I just wet my panties.

  • @morguebabe When I first saw this video, I said to myself, "OMG why wasn't I there to see this rare live masterpiece?!" (Black Hole Sun=In my opinion=Greatest Rock Ballad Song Ever and when I asked Chris Cornell on YT if he agreed, he said to me it wasn't even his best song written when he was with Soundgarden--Simply amazing!)

  • dude dude, 15 people have parkinson disease? WTF

  • FUCKEN AWESOME!!!!!

  • I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS OMG COLD CHILLS:)

  • @ cheyennelm922, i saw him here in london ontario, they did this song together at rock the park, alice cooper also did schools out with peter frampton, epicness

  • who ever is holding the camera has rediculously steady hands

  • @generaljim451 I was too busy being awe to even notice that. You're right.

  • @generaljim451 Obviously not rocking out hard enough.

  • the 14 dislikes are because those people forgot what video they were watching

  • DUDE! My jaw dropped when I thought Cornell was starting the tune and Frampton did his Framptony thing, lol! LOVE IT!

  • Just saw Peter Frampton warming up for Yes the other night. I didn't know he did a version of BHS. Blew me away. As most of you have commented, impeccable phrasing!

  • Frampton and Cornell is epic.

  • Frampton is an amazing guitarist and combined with Chris Cornell......AMAZING!

  • 0:58 Frampton with the save haha. You know your awesome when. I love this version

  • this shows what a great guitarist frarmton is this song is really hard to play someone agree with me here lol.

  • I like Chris Cornell and his music, but I lost so much respect for him in this video. He looks like such a douche dancing around trying to get attention while Frampton plays the first verse... It's understandable though, who wouldn't feel inferior on a stage with Peter Fampton?

  • @Jd4003 well.... it IS his song

  • @Jd4003 Chris is dancing around, likely, b/c he is so freakin' excited he can't contain himself.

  • @Jd4003 Since when is it a bad thing to see singers and musicians dancing around on the stage when they perform? He doesn't seem to be behaving that different from any other time he's playing on stage with someone he likes and respects. That's Chris Cornell singing a song Chris Cornell wrote, and being accompanied by Peter Frampton. CC would never TRY to get attention, he just does! Sounds like you don't know much about him.

  • Wow - good to see "the old man" still has it. Frampton always was a master of phrasing. Good to see him still making Les Paul guitars scream and sing !

  • PepperRoni...try in your young life time to see Radiohead "Live" you'll be completely blown away.Trust me.Afterwords you'll come back on YouTube and take back all you had to say about RH.Cheers young-buck!

  • I dunno. I like them both a lot. Maybe it's the perspective (or the sound quality). But the performance seemed so 'phoned in'.

  • it's crazy how frampton makes the guitar almost sing the lyrics for cornell. :)

  • @suckkafish You know, I love Frampton, and his trademark is definitely the Talkbox. But I love how at this point, especially with Black Hole Sun, but at this point in his career, I love how he can make his guitar almost seem to talk WITHOUT the Talkbox. That shows the progression of his talent, style, and experience. He's used the Talkbox so much, he can now almost replicate it without even using it! Now THAT is awesome!

  • Great collaboration.

Frampton's guitar work is epic and meshes pretty well. I'd like to hear a clean studio version.

  • @kraventhearcher You want to get Frampton's best album, Fingerprints. It doesn't have Chris Cornell, but it has Peter Frampton's version of this song and some other killer guitar tracks.

  • if you get a chance to see frampton live he's well worth the money1

  • Totally awesome to see old and new collaborate in such an intense and beautiful way. Both Frampton and Cornell rock.

  • couldn't agree more

  • Chris Cornell is new? I thought he was in his 40's

  • Comment removed

  • oops I forgot "CREEP"!

  • Chris Cornell is a GOD O_O

  • I think some guy by name of Sir Thom Yorke had taken that crown.....and forever will

  • No. There is only one true GOD, and Chris is it. There is not another songwriter on this planet or elsewhere that can match the experience that is Chris Cornell PERIOD Thom Yorke, Trent Reznor, Tom Morello and Greg Laswell are all peons to Chris Cornell's ROCK GOD VOICE. A GOD is bound by no limits (ex Scream by Chris Cornell) check it out

  • Matt,Matt,Matt my son.Child please...your still young and its not your fault ok.But you ask anyone who is above rock status and they will most likely say Thom Yorke or Radiohead.Thom is by far a along distance from these cats you mention.Infact I see you add "The Clock" on your favorites.Wise-wise decision kid.Cheers.

  • I may be young in age but I have a very wise soul, which wouldn't be understood by someone unless in the same position. Chris Cornell has a music career 30 years old and is his own history. Michael Trent Rezonor has a 39 year old music career(Been playing piano since 5yo). Tom Morello, a 32 year old music career. Thom Yorke? A 20 year career and Radiohead is his history. I'm in love with music, and Chris Cornell is music.

  • and KISS has had a 40-year long career of churning out trite unbearable shite.

    what's your point?

Radiohead is transcendental. they have been since OK Computer.

  • Hahahahaha

  • k....Matt I understand your love for Chris...but let me ask you question?Have you ever been to live Radiohead concert? You mention Chris a great song writer..yes ok...well here's some of Thom's work - I Will - Climbing Up the Walls- How to Disappear Completely - Motion Picture Soundtrack - Where I End and You Begin- Paranoid Android- Pyramid Song- No Surprises - and finally "Hearing Damage"?Now you list me some of Chris work compare to GREAT YORKE?

  • @cruzer619 I can't stand radiohead, all the hype and I finally listened to them and was really disapointed

  • @PepperRoni20 Wait a minute its not April 1st?I believe its April 29,yes.I'm crushed to hear you were disappointed. What was it that disappointed you?Did you see them live or what?

  • @cruzer619 I didnt see them live, I just thought there music wasan't that good

  • You guys are all momo's anyone with any knowledge of rock legends know's that THE HOFF beets them all!!!!!!!!!!! The Lawman STeven Seagal comes in close second!!!! Let's also admit that Steven Seagal is much better looking than Chris is!!! Oh and The HOFF vocal range blows away Cornell's limited soprano girly voice too!!!!!!!!!!! Enough said you have all been schooled!!!!

  • Tom Petty is a better writer. Cornell is good, but he's not that good.

  • hahahahaha not even for a shitting second. keep free falln lol

  • You're a moron if you believe that. Dumber than a bag of hammers.

  • Who's the real moron? Did I go on a Chris Cornell video and say Tom Petty is a better writer? No I went on a Chris Cornell video and said Chris Cornell is a "GOD." What kind of moronic dunce goes on the wrong video to brag? You......

And by the way, having an opinion doesn't mean you're a moron, it means you have free thought. Now, you action means you're a moron.

And Chris Cornell is an infinite times better writer than Tom Petty.

  • Rong.

  • My previous message shut you up, huh? Justdon't message back, as that would just be annoying

  • @residentpswii Wut?

  • stop replying

  • @residentpswii Huh?

  • Go ahead act like a child then, I have my opinions, and you have your hate for opinions, so let's just leave it at that.

  • Exactly.

  • none of you kids can touch this old man on a guitar ,maybe Frampton should have done the vocals!

  • I just love it, man

  • he messed up lol

  • ahhh it brings a tear to the eye to see the newer gen acknowledging their influences, as Cornell always does, unlike Vedder.

  • Can't disagree more with that statement pal. Vedder is constantly talking about Pete Townsend, Joey Ramone, and all his other hero's. Seems to me like he is much more popular with the older classic rock guys as well as he often shares the stage with guys like springsteen and the doors at their rocknroll hall of fame induction. don't know where you got that notion

  • Couldn't agree more. I'm a huge fan of both and I have to say Eddie definitely seems to focus a lot more on giving tribute to the greats of the past.

  • Dude, are you high?!? You can't get Eddie to shut up about the Who, the Ramones...shit, he's the only reason anyone under 35 knows about Neil Young. And look at all of the old covers PJ plays - Jim Carroll, tons of old punk (SSD, etc.)

I actually wish Eddie would STOP living in the distant past and START living in the more recent past (i.e. the Ten era...)

  • EV is always acknowledging his influences (actually he bangs on about them all the time), especially Neil Young, Pete Townshend, Bruce Springsteen, John Lennon, The Ramones, MC5, Buzzcocks, ACDC, Iron Maiden and recently in London even Michael Jackson to whom they dedicated a song.

  • what the fuck are you on about vedder not acknowledging his influences he has with tom petty that is his big influence and has done alot of work with him you retard know your shit b4 you post comments

  • Shut up stupid troll!

  • I saw Frampton play this live, in Murphy's CA. late summer 2007. It was fucking sic!

    as is this.

  • I'm creamin' my jeans here !!!!!

  • Gibson SG?? Kim played a Guils S1!!!

  • Saw the do this sat night in a Chicago burb! what an awesome surprise

  • Frampton Comes Alive!

  • I would pee myself if I was watching Chris Cornell and Peter Frampton came on stage and they played Black Hole Sun.

    Just Saying.

  • @cheyennelm922 Ha ! Was just thinking the same thing. I loved this collaboration. Turns out "the old man" still has it. Terrific guitar player with a sense of phrasing almost unmatched by anyone.

  • @cheyennelm922 ide probably jiz in my own mouth and swallow it then poo it out and rub it all over my face

  • @jeffisstoned How eloquent!

  • @cheyennelm922 I might expel a more. . . solid substance from my body if I saw that happen.

  • @cheyennelm922 rOFL..totally

  • @cheyennelm922 , i saw him here in london ontario, they did this song together at rock the park, alice cooper also did schools out with peter frampton, epicness

  • @cheyennelm922 I bet your my soul that someone did and someone left the venue with "luggage" in the trunk

  • FRAMPTON!!! - thats all ive got to say really ;)

  • holy shitttt thanxs for the video

  • music icons on stage, thanks for sharing!:)

  • guag q barbaro la verdad me encantaria poder juntar a chris cornell con divididos algun dia a ver q sale de esa mezcla.soy un gran fanatico de soundgarden rage against the machine pearl jam audioslave y obviamente chris cornell....i tihnk you guys should be listen DIVIDIDOS from argentina you ll be surprised...adiosss

  • This has no business existing. Awesome!

  • Holy epic!

  • i see a D/13 amp far left ..coolio

  • ooft well spotted

  • not one of my favorite SG songs, to be honest...

  • it doesnt have to be played on a sg

  • SG, stands for Sound Garden, the band that wrote the song. If you were being sarcastic I apologize, if not, well now you know.

  • haha i hope you were being sarcastic

  • he means sound garden, not the guitar

  • gibson sg < soundgarden... if the two are comparible lol...

  • You just lose a great chance to say nothing ... lol

  • ..wow..

  • My only complaint is how can you bring Frampton on stage and not have a vocoder on hand??

  • HAHAHAHA. Peter Frampton bitch slapped him at the beginning like Mark Knophler did Eric Clapton in 91.

  • Brilliant!!!

  • this song may just be EPIC!!!!

  • why all this negativity?? this song brings positivity... sweet music!

  • I like how Chris starts to sing, then ol' 'Frampy steps all over his vocal with this wacko guitar tone he's got going on.

  • Peter Frampton, an amazing musician.

  • Totally agree.

  • I have to admit - as a revival of a great song by a great band, this is one Mean mutha-f@cking cover of his own tune.

The sound guys (meaning, the sound tech at the show, not his old band) are workin' extra hard to give 'em that "straight off the record" sound.

Good for them. This would've been epic to see live.

Soundgarden's often bizarre yet beautiful arrangements are part of what inspired me to become a jazz musician.

Think I might do a fusion cover of this myself now! Hah!

  • OMG, Peter Frampton!

  • Holy Shit, I used to go there every week when I was younger!

  • OMG! One of my favourite songs!

  • Those young guns that don't know Frampton - he's a true guitar hero. Listen to anything from the "Frampton Comes Alive" LP circa 1978.

  • im 15 and i love frampton as a matter of fact i got peter comes alive vinyl

  • both artists made their names singing and playing/writing guitar that baffles ever yone else. Not because they are any better, because they feel the music, and we can feel it from them. Bow down and enjoy genious!!!!

  • haha. it sure was

  • I am guessing you've never played music or recorded any albums? Has your career even started ? Are your videos on here? Hmmmmm

  • yes, I play music. I"m guessing you don't know what real music is and are easily duped into listening to what everyone tells you is acceptable. How is American Idol shaping up this season? And is this video taken before or after Cornell canceled a show on thousands of paying fans to play a private, corporate gig that offered him more money. And yes, my first album comes out next month. It's called "Integrity."

  • Well if you had any "Integrity",like what i did there thought you would, you could realize that as a musician that becoming a sellout fuck, to use your own words again, you would have to commercialize yourself into the ultamite salesman, and i have no idea but do remember the last time you saw Chirs Cornell selling anything on the televisions or the radio for instance, get back to me on that,so as a musician, you should look to people like Cornell and Frampton and takes notes on professionalism.

  • not sure what you're trying to say. Maybe after some more schooling, you could come up with an argument that makes sense? Don't defend a musician for screwing his fans over just because you like him. He had his chance, and he chose to waste it in the end.

  • id just like to point out that he did do a commercial for verizon wireless with timbaland with scream in the background. ill just throw that in there.

  • You have no "integrity" if you make comments like this...I'll bet if Cornell asked you to open a gig for him you wouldn't turn it down would you? You are talking out of your ass..you must be a guitar player...the easiest instrument to learn...all you need is a plug.

  • dude shutup. don't pretend like you know anything about me. take cornell's dick out of your mouth faggot

  • MasterBlasterMusic, I'm just a little curious as to how the guitar is the easiest instrument to learn. Perhaps a little background as to your amazing talent on the guitar could enlighten me on your statement, or you could send me a message of some sort that supports your thesis, because honestly, out of the 7 years i've been playing rhythm guitar and bass guitar, and the 9 years i've been playing alto sax, i'd have to say that the sax was much easier for me to learn how to play.
