I think the vision of the director is the ultimate vision that carries over through filming and post-production, in essence, the theory is validated by the vision of the film and not the collaboration involved. Like Joseph L. Mankiewicz, once noted, the first vision of the film is first realized when the film has been written, because every good screenplay has been directed once, after it is written. The second input is the director's, which then means the film has been directed twice.
there is no such thing as auteur theory. American scholar Andrew Sarris' mistranslated French term "La politique des auteurs" which got nothing to do with theory but rather a perspective in aproaching films or directors' work.
Hello, I've just handed in my BA, viewing Tim Burton as the modern auteur. I have tried to outline the so called "creative vision" behind his work, and believe to have done so by analyzing all of his films. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for including him in your work as well :)
