Clark and Lana could have been together despite the massive amounts of kryptonite in her body. Clark just isn't smart enough to figure it out and that's not how the story goes =\. sad the series is ending though - kind of reminds us all of how sometimes it's better to be young.

smallville made a huge mistake.  tom welling and kristen kreuk are so gorgeous and they have so much chemistry...the lois and clark pairing is just a pale imitation of love...what was advantageous to kristen is that she really got to put her inprint on lana. even in the comics...lana was not that well defined...kristen's lana was so luminescent that not even lex luthor could resist her. added to that, kristen and michael rosenbaum also have combustible chemistry...
