Almost all FWD cars have the engine in a transversal position, therefore the gear box (in almost all the cases) is on the engine left side. Therefore the transmission leading to the right wheel is longer than the transmission leading to the left wheel. Wich means aplying the newtons law, you will have that torque=radio*force (in vectors) ... has the "r" is longer on the (...)

RS4 B5 has a 2.7 biturbo V6, around 380bhp stock, 420 with the "sport" option.

The B5 S4 has a 2.7 biturbo V6, around 280bhp stock.

They are all based on the same engine, that you can also find in the C5 A6 (the one called "2.7t") but with around 230bhp.

The newer 4.2 V8 is an excellent engine of course, but the original RS4 from 2001-2002 has a whole different charm...

The engine itself, although based on the same design, is not the same.

The RS4 has bigger turbos and everything "around them", different tuning and all that good stuff. :-)

That said, I would like to add that the newest avant RS4 is very beautiful, in my opinion.
