  • Bought myself a blue Quaker after watching this video. He's starting to talk and is very cheeky.

  • it seems kinda gassy...

  • I wish my quaker would do that...

  • Hope fully my new blue Quaker turns out just like Tycho!

  • He's so cool!!!!

  • Love it, Love it. so how did you get him to talk i got one from Christmas and her name is green bean (my kids named her) and tips for me

  • lol cute

  • Sorrounded bymorons01 maybe ur the moron! Idiot.

  • awwwwwwwww so adorable!!!

  • im getting one of those

  • Fead It!!!

  • I currently have a budgie and it's amazing how loud he is, so i can imagine how loud a quaker is. I am looking at getting another bird. Does your quaker favor you and your husband equally? I want a family(not one person) bird. Thank you

  • Hi my name is Alicia and I would enjoy for you to see my video a "a parakeet and a quaker parrot mating"

  • 1:09 it actually looks like he's farting!! LOL XD

  • Lol. I want one of these parrots so bad. But I can't get one till I get my own house one day. Too loud for my parents. Too loud for my soon to be apartment >.<

  • my poor Quaker "bird" flew away from home...i hope she/he is ok...we tried looking for him/her but he had flown to high into a tree and we couldnt call him home...we heard him talking all night long....that was 9 years ago or more....i miss bird...my dad went outside with him on his shoulder......didnt know he was there

  • i have a quaker parrot her name is nina and shes 3 years old :)

  • your Quaker is just so beautiful! im getting my 3rd Quaker in a few days and she is blue also. None of my Quakers so far have learned to talk, and one was 8 years old and could only make noises. Hopefully that will change with my new baby :)

  • is tycho aggressive? heard these birds only let 1 person handle them and have destructive tempers.

  • very cute!

  • Such a beautiful bird! We had a quaker parrot named Money 3 years ago and we loved him so much. Unfortunately, he passed away. I am thinking about getting another Quaker Parrot this year but if I do get one, it will never replace Money :(

  • my quaker farts to! OMG :D!!!!

  • hey i also want a monk parrot and i have a question for you are they really very loud?

  • @klemenator They are loud. Parrots are loud. If you are concerned about noise get a lovebird, parrotlet, perhaps even a cockateil. Quakers are known to be some of the loudest and most obnoxious parrots. Spend time with one before you decide! Good luck!

  • @SurvivingLove well you can actually train them to be quiet when they really annoy you! Its complicated cause he dont get what you want but he can get used to it.

  • @klemenator If you're looking for a quiet parrot, get a green cheeked conure. They're VERY quiet.. I almost wish mine would make more noise!

  • very cute!! i had a quaker and miss him terribly. thanks for this video, it was like i was watching Quaker. (my parrott)

  • I love quakers... also the blue ones. But Tycho is the cutest

  • I had a blue Quaker but he flew away two years ago, I still miss him. He used to make that farting noise, but I used to call it purring. At night when it was dark just before I put him to bed we would sit and purr, I'd purr, then he would purr and rub his face on my ceek. I used to love it.

  • 12/17/2010-1:49am .I'm doing something I consider a miracle.I managed to get my male: Archie and Female:Edith to hang on my shoulder. The female hates my guts but the male likes me but he doesn't like being picked up.He bites real hard, she is affraid to bite,BUT,she hates me soooo much she won't even look at me.I've had these little a.holes for 5 YEARS.The male,he's cool, but not overly friendly,My conures and A.Grey are great ! I will not give up on the female. Is there a point where you give up ?

  • You should make lots more videos. I love watching you guys interact with Tycho. It's obvious you guys really love him and take great care of him.

  • Now that is an amazing bird u have!!! Such a beautiful color 2!!!

  • my grandma had a quaker it died two 2 ago so i made a small tribute too him

  • parrots can mimic any thing they here

  • My Nanday started doing that recently. Says "Sissy farted" makes the fart noise then giggles...rofl. Only problem is, I can't get my bird to do all that talking when the drop cloth os off his cage, only when its on.

  • talk your quaker to a vet if you think she is sick

  • my quaker is being a handful this summer, i think its cuss of the mating season. she has a partner and wont let me come near her or the cage. >.> shameless bitch..

  • Lmao he can fart

  • Let us know if your Quacker is ok...please!

  • dude ur not supposed to let them in ur mouth like that ...it can kill them!

  • my quaker does the exact same thing. Fart noises and all.

  • ok im very scared!!! my quaker started to limp on her left leg. her left foot is lighter in color than the other one and im scared that she is sick. plz help me!!! PLZ NO FAKE COMMENTS! IM SERIOUS!! HELP

  • @mrbz134 take your quaker to an avian vet immediately!!

  • @SurvivingLove i am happy to report that skippy my quaker parrot is 100% ok!

  • I have a Quaker got her about a week ago. shes starting to show signs of talking. she mocks me when i say no all the time. The only problem i have is she really attached to her cage and if i dont talk to her while approaching her she bites me.

  • i have a green 1 boy and girl both i have but i dont no how to teach them to talk

  • just keep talking to them. usually during the morning or late evening it works best, well atleast for my bird. He can hold a small converstation. Mimic a chicken, fart, gulp, light switches, gun fire (from video games).

  • quakers are so cute

  • love dis parrot i got one thats green

  • GREAT PARROT. I have a quaker tool...he was born Sept 2nd...and is doing great. I look forward to his talking.

  • how often do parrots bite? I hear if they do bite its pretty nasty. I guess like any animal it comes down to proper care and handling from an early age.

still would hate to have say an African Grey or Macaw bite my damn thumb off lol

  • @bottle2lip if your not willing to get bit then you probably dont want a bird.. even if they are tamed they are going to end up biting every once in a while. sometimes worse than others but you cant punish them for it because its their nature. and i agree i would also hate to be bitten by a macaw

  • Tycho is so cute!!!!

  • LOL! I have a blue quaker just like yours. Her name is Belle. ((at least I'm leaning towards it being a girl)) She's constantly asking "What are you doing." And she loves "Here kitty kitty." And she almost said "Damn it" in front of my grandma...Made me laugh. But she makes people laugh anyway and she loves anyone that lets her on their shoulder.

  • lol..

  • What a cutie! And a blue one, too!

  • SOO CUTEEEEEE!!

  • I was laughing so hard when he was blowing raspberries. That was the cutest thing ever!! XD He's a great talker too! Thanks for sharing.

  • it looks like your quaker is blue and grey i have a green one

is blue a harder to find color?

  • Yes, green is most common, but blue is not too difficult to come across. They also have white, black (or greyish) yellow ones, yet these are extremely rare and only Bill Gates could afford one :P Barely anyone knows of the white and black mutations.

  • when i make that farting noise with my mouth he trys biting me

  • my quaker isnt terroterial he doent bite but he loves to pick food out of evrey ones teeth i have a question mine always starts to scream if i leave him alone and hes scared of evrey one else in the house but me if my bro or parants but him on there sholders he keeps staring at me and trying to fly to me why does he like me so much

  • wow very rare color , i have a green one ;]

  • my parrotlet picks food out of my teeth too

  • ours too!!! gross but funny!!!

  • Are the Quakers the only birds that are territorial or there is more. and if so can u please share the name with me so I can know before. thank you

  • Lovebirds can also be very territorial, but ANY parrot can be during breeding season & when a female is on eggs.

  • omg lol 0:35 the birdie laughs at what he just did. cutest thing ever!!! yal are so lucky! such a cute birdie. :)

  • I have the same bird! I am gonna teach my bird how to fart now!

  • @SurvivingLove: Tycho seems so cool and tame, does he ever get moody and loud on you? does he ever bite you?

  • If anyone with a parrot every tells you that the bird NEVER gets loud or nips, they aren't telling you the truth. Tycho certainly has his days where he doesnt feel snuggly, but I know when I get close to his flight that he doesnt want to be social so I don't push it and let him be. He doesn't scream unless he has a good reason (strange at the door, his flight isnt covered during the evening, he's hungry), but he has little tantrums just like any other parrot. Its part of the package.

  • Thank you, ..Love :)

  • thats just too cute

  • Say I am sorry if this is random but does anyone know if there is a type of Quaker that has a very short tail? I never noticed before but every video I see on youtube shows quakers with long tails, and my boy has an itty bitty tail. What's up?

  • There are multiple sub species of quakers that are interbred all the time. So it could very well be that. Have you had blood work done? Are the tail feathers well formed/well coloured/have a good strong shaft? It could also be a sign of illness.

  • His tail feather probally fell off, this happens to my birds sometimes. It will grow back.

  • oh... he is sooo cute. I have parrots for years now and this weekend I will get my first quaker parrot. A wild color. I cannot wait!

  • ahh u got the blue one!!! i got the green one. the pink ones are cute too

    ^.^.-

  • quaker are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ever thought of calling him

    Whoop E. Cushion?

  • you should be careful about letting him have contact with your mouth. mouth jerms can be toxic to parrots.

  • Well yeah, human bacteria can be pretty bad. My friends quaker had to go through a few treatments because she would let him kiss her mouth a lot and he'd get some of her saliva...messed up his stomach or something, I can't remember the details. Not as bad as a dog or cats saliva, but generally bad. Nice cage setup though :) and gorgeous.

  • lol its so funny how i thought u were concerned for the owner's safety....

  • lol yea its funny when i think about it like that^^

  • awh, you just lean over and he gets on ur shoulder

  • Cool bird

  • i have a quaker that tries to bite eveyone in my family except me but it (don't know the sex) doesnt step up on my hand often he only either goes on my shoulder or climbs onto my head. if he trusts me enough to be on me why not my hand?

  • Comment removed

  • If you're the only one he doesn't bite, he may be over bonded with you.

  • my bird howie dose that (quaker) all that time i thought he was saying Howie..

  • i just recently got a 5 and half months old quaker and i realli love him but i need some help on how to get him to not be scared of me and any tips on the best diet? he is takin nuts out of my hand but onli if i basically put the nut on his beak what do i do

  • nutriberries are fun and Tycho loves em. They are fun for them to eat and easy to hide for enrichment. Always fresh water and fresh greens and veggies daily.

  • For the diet, I suggest a mix of parakeet seed, pellets, and of course vegetables.

  • wow

  • I have a quacker bird, don't know if it is a male or female. But the bird is so mean.

He bits and essss at you everytime you go bye the cage. Who ever had him was mean to him , any help on training him.

Or will he aways be mean.

I talk to him everyday, and try to take him out of the cage , but he bits real hard.

And when i go to feed him , he bits me.

  • i have a bird like that to she used to be very mean she bit every one that stayed near the cage my mom shows her(or he idk myself) love and i talk to her she became nicer but dosent like guys other than the ones in the family .if talkin dont work feed it something it likes thats what i do with my bird and if that dont help im srry

  • Quaker 101: one of the most territorial species around. Which is why they bite when you get near their cage. They are protecting their space and this is normal. You can distract by placing a treat on one end of the cage while you clean or bowl...or you can teach a game. For instance, I whistle a specific phrase before I open the cage, if Tycho responds with the proper call back to me, he usually is fine with me coming in, if he doesnt respond back with the proper tune, I give him space.

  • wow beautiful quaker! i've always wanted a blue one

  • guyz can anyone help me, i would like to know a couple of things regarding Quackers. :

can i raise him with my African grey ??

are they ok with children at home??

how can i tel Quacker's age form its appearance??

how much time do they need to start talking??

thank you so much for your time guyz,

    Regards

    Dajani

  • OMG he's soooo cute!

  • I wanted a blue quaker. We taught our bird Watcha doin.I have 1 quaker tape if you want to watch on my channel. She says more then my tape shows. Our bird is 7 yrs old .I got her at 7 weeks old .

  • i want a bird so bad now

  • i have a quaker named taco he does the same tricks. we even have him saying hola taco. and peekaboo. he's 1 year old. i love these little guys.

  • HE CAN FART!!!

  • i love their translations of our sounds they are too funny!!

  • awesome farts!!!!!Q

  • my quaker has white spots on his beak, someone told me it was lack of calcium, can i give him the calcium i give to my snake? its a white powder.. thank you

  • DO NOT TRY UNLESS YOUVE ASKED A VET

  • you´re right, it sounded crazy, I already bought one of those carcass of a mollusk or smthng like that´that´s appropiate for him/her , thanks

  • i sure wouldn't be asking for advice on Youtube. You want to trust someone who may know nothing to answer that? Or that may purposely misinform you.

  • cute bird

  • I'd be scared to death to try that.

I'm not as careful about my dogs and cats, but I found out the hard way that you gotta be more carful with birds.

  • I Love that little bird

  • I LOVE Tycho! What a silly boy he is. I have several species of birds (cockatiels, parakeets, lovebirds, zebra finches& our crazy Nanday conure,Aiko)& know all too well about how they will have their preferences& favorites among "humans." Aiko prefers the hubster& will attack me if I try to go near him while she's with him. She doesn't talk much, but does some rather goofy things& only for me,go figure?! Tycho is really smart& very handsome. Hope your hubster is staying home more often now.

  • We are actually pretty lucky. He is *not* a one person bird:) He will fly to both of us from the other's hand/shoulder when called. This was just a situation where Ihor came home from a long time away and I don't blame Tycho for wanting some Male Bonding time with his "Dad":) hehehehehehe

Thank you for all the wonderful feedback! It's good to hear! Do you have any videos of Your little guys????????

  • i have 2 of these parrots the first one we found the second one i bought at a pet store for $300 dollars(pet store had so many i got half off) but my parrots are green and i got 1 question how the f@#$ can i tell difference in gender ?

  • DNA testing. You can take your bird to an avian vet and for $50-$100 they will take a blood sample from the bird and have the blood tested for gender. That is the most accurate/easiest way to tell as there are so many subspecies of the Quaker family (ie: it's tough to tell by just size/shape/etc b/c of the variations within the species). Good luck!

  • dude you got ripped off, here in miami, where i live, i bought two green quaker parrot about 2 weeks old for like 100 bucks

  • Oh he is so cute!!!

  • my mom is a teacher and one of her kids gave her his quaker.... sadly teh bird was abused by the kid's little brother for 2 years... we've been trying to work with the parrot for the past year but she is still very aggressive and doesn't warm up.... I'm more of a reptile and mammal guy and don't know as much about birds.... I know most parrots are a joy to have and she is quite the character at times but mostly really hostile.... anyone have any suggestions?

  • umm i think its ganna require more attention just so it will see you dont want to harm it

  • Birds are profoundly intelligent creatures& need to be given different toys& treats to keep their interest& also to prevent emotional instabilities. Although the bird was abused,it will slowly but surely mellow out once trust in humans is regained. Until he/she is happy to be with "humans," try to let it hang out in an area that isn't too loud or busy with family, but still is able to see you guys& be very slow & low toned when talking to him/her. Time will reward all these efforts. Good luck.

  • This is adorable, not only because of Tycho (who is absolutely lovely), but because of the effect he has on your husband. I'm something of a bird-person myself, and while I'm normally pretty stolid, my birds can put me in the silliest moods.

  • i have a quaker he can say 12 words and thats it hes naem is napolean and by othe one is pedro

  • one of my quakers say f@#$ you

  • Omg! how great! hey do u know how big they grow?

  • including there tail feather about the size of a ruller so 12 inches

  • and dont get ur hopes up for a blue one cause thats a color mutation. have one of my own so just ask if you have any quesions

  • When this video was taken he was 7 months old (as mentioned in the description as is his birthdate)...he is now 1 year, 3 months old.

  • Letting him/her into your mouth is bad..the saliva from your mouth can easily make the bird REALLY sick..

  • yep!

  • Yes, Goo loves most foods although I only give him healthy stuff. He is especially fond of "helping" me eat my dinner....

Goo doesn't talk at all, but he does whistle very well. Occasionally he does makes little noises that sound like wordss.

Providing they have a varied and healthy diet (i.e. not just bird seed) and are well cared for, Quakers can live for at least 25-30 years or longer.

  • I had one she had over 100 word vocabulary, she talked in sentences too. it wasn't just mimicing some times. one day i heard her call me, Mom, Mom. i was ignoring her, she yelled real loud MOM! I said Cleo, what do you want and she said "take a bath' take a bath'. she never said take a bath before. and that is what she was wanting too. the one i have now is 26 yrs and calls me by name and then tells me i'm a duck or says come here. He says, whose that, I want out, barks,

  • this one is really cute. they like to hang out with you too. mine wouldn't let my husband near me though, she would try to bite him.

  • You have a Quaker that's 26 years old? That's just awesome!! I have a Quaker that will be 20 years old in November. His name is Goo - it was Oreo now he's the filling in the middle of the cookie....lol....

  • they are adorable, does yours eat everything, Jerry likes tuna, chicken, veg and fruits, potatoes, I think he'd eat most anything. don't dare go by his cage with a plate of food and not give him any, LOL.

that's a cute name Goo. Does he talk? I was told they don't live past 15 but apparently that's not true.

  • It's a shame that quakers are frobidden in California.

I would like to have one.

  • LOL why are they forbidden?

  • There's huge flocks of wild Quakers eating 40% of crops. Quakers are intelligent enough that if they escape, even if they were hand fed, to watch feral Quakers and learn how to survive in the wild. They reproduce ALOT when they find the perfect spot to live, and of course, eat more of the crops.

  • my quaker is 11 years old and all he does is cuss at my mom, blame my aunt tho she was the one who taught her how to cuss not us xD

  • I really suck at training. Infact I haven't tried to. I really want to but I have zero experience. I have a female quaker parrot (parrie). She yells/ responds at the other birds outside ALOT in the morning. Any tips? I want to try to get her to say welcome, goodbye, and you've got mail. (JK!.. Well.. that'd be funny) I don't know how to start.. Help?

  • when i got my quaker i was new too. just repeat things to them. like every morning when i uncovered mine i would tell her good morning. now she beats me to it! i would blow kisses at her and say thank you. now she says it back or she will blow kisses to me. just be repetetive and they will learn to talk. also when she does start to talk give her her favorite treat. (mine likes sunflower seeds) it will encourage her to continue and try harder! good luck!!!:)

  • My boyfriend's parrot does that same thing yours does when your hubby makes the sound with his lips :)

  • happy late birthday. you're a year old now! :D

  • that was so cute i love quakers

  • i have 2 young green quackers i really want a blue^^ SO CUTE!

  • :-D

used to have a budgerigar that would do that little nibble thing on my neck and cheek...then just when you were all off-guard he'd grab one of my moustache hairs and yank X-O

  • My Quaker tries to grab my nose hairs and yank them out...

  • Kool

  • lol my quaker does that too. wont get off my shoulder once I put him on.

  • precious baby! that was cute!

  • awesome!

  • That takes the cake! A farting quacker!
