Wow. God forbid you should put the threaded barrel protector in the little plastic box in your fnp bag, and heaven forbid you should adjust the extractor, or try different ammo, or recoil spring. And why the heck did you buy it if you weren't gonna put a silencer on it anyway? Too look tacticool?
As much as I like the FNP 45 Tactical, there is one thing on my mind: Is it glove-friendly? (Can I use and fire it while wearing gloves - I'm talking neoprene ones)
@SPeacock i have shot it wearing nomex flight gloves and it feels fine, but havent done any heavy glove shooting, the grip checkering is insane on this pistol !!
@Batmanuel0510 bought mine locally for 950 out the door, was the black version, only way it could go to a few grand is the amount of ammo i put thru it.
so when are we going to see a review of this pistol and the osprey PFI said he ordered. been waitin a while to hear Nutin's opinion on those two items
I own an FNX and at first I thought there would be a problem with magezine retention. Its something that i did not notice at first. I guess it is the only downside to the gun and i dont know why FN changed it. But to be honest i have not had any problems after I got used to it. But, it did take some getting used to. Other wise its a great pistol and i have had no FTF's and no problem with the mags after I trained myself to slap the mag in the right way.
Nutnfancy should do a comparison and review of all hi cap 45s, including the hi cap 1911 style pistols. There isn't enough info out there on this topic.
Hey PFI Dude or Nutn, I'm looking at getting my first high capacity polymer .45 and it is between the USP45 Tactical or the HK 45 Tactical. What would you suggest? Unfortunately I probably wont be able to shoot either before I buy. Both do give me a warm and fuzzy when I hold them and each feel like they have manageable negative features I can live with.
@nutnfancy I guess I should have been more awake when I typed. I put the HK twice and didn't say my other option. :0) The FNP 45 tactical was the other option. (Like what they are shooting in the video.) Thanks Veri, you're a sweetheart.
check out my videos micromanish I have both the FNP45 tactical Stainless & the HK45 regular. The FNP hold 15 rounds has a left & right side saftey and decocker.
Use a small O-ring that is temperature tollerant---like Silencerco---to keep the thread protector in place and tight...Works awesome! 2500+ rounds and going, unless I take it off.
If cases are being extracted that directly rearward, to where they accually contact your optic, the gun needs to be checked by FN and corrected. That is not typical of this firearm.
I was wondering about the size of the grip on the fnp 45. I found that it was 5 11/16" in circumference. That's very nearly the same size as the cardboard tube of a big paper towel roll. Hope that helps somebody else out.
So, at 8:49 you say "And if anyone says otherwise I challenge them to come out here and do this type of shooting", Now if I were to say otherwise then would you say what desert your at? haha, just kidding, i respect your wanting to keep it secret, as well as i know that this is an incredibly difficult course to run. Keep up the great work Nutn! Sincerely- Brownnz.
Nice trick to keep your thread protector on is clear top coat nail polish. Survives thousand of rounds on any threaded barrel I have ever owned. If you are not comfortable with that alone, then go to your local auto store and get high heat O-rings that will not melt on the barrel. Hope that helps you buddy.
My FNP-40 would always eject out the bottom if you fired it with the mag out. Seems this is common to top-heavy polymer handguns. Sold the 40 but miss it now, will probably get the 45 tactical when more money.
im a huge 1911 fan and im lookin into getting an fnp45. i love the short trigger pull of my GI1911, so would this probably be a bad choice? ive shot a sig p220 and i didnt really like the trigger alot, and its a longer pull.
Why the hell didn't his last casing from the glock get ejected??? Never even thought that could happen, it just sat on the mag until he took that out....
Wow man those rebounces look dangerous. I have no expirence in shooting guns, but i can think that the kenetic energy of the bounced off bullets is so low it cant inflict a serious wound. Or are you guys just crazy?
The case ejection issue is pretty prominent among fnp-45's. I don't know why. When I called FNH they said to send the gun in, it came back and still did it. Sometimes it flies straight up and hits me on top of my head. Good news is, it does not do this with +p ammo. It flies to the right as it should. I'd be using +p for self defense anyway, so its not a problem for me. Btw, the recoil on this gun with +p is about the same as a regular 230 grain from my kimber 1911.
lol 13:15 "I felt myself jerkin" if you didn't feel yourself jerkin you may wana see a specialist... cause i mean that's a VERY sensitive part of the body... if you cant feel that you are in trouble!
i have a few words to say to nutn not going to do it yet as everything hasn't dropped into place yet but it will and when it does i can only say one thing, thanks nutn for making me man up. i will be looking forward to emailing you the full story its been a hard road.
@KevinMichaelMichael thanks! It is a lot of work, but it is well worth it when we get to hear from supporters like yourself. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Even though I may not always get a chance to comment, I always see the posts. Keep it safe! PFI
wow, now i realize why your "testing" the body armor.... did you hear that wicked richochet at 6:26 when PFI was shooting at the hostage target..? I've heard them (richochets) in several vids now when you guys are shooting these steel targets... its enough so I personally would be a little concerned about "Trench Warfare" turning into a visit to the ER.
Is there any risk of ricochets from these steel targets you are shooting here? I know many targets deflect down however it seems like some of these are at 90 degree angles.
Those ricochets I hear out there scare the shit out of me. You guys should put some water down below your steel targets to soften up the gravel. Everytime I hear a ricochet I flinch.
I think one of the advantages of shooting in this type of environment is one has to deal with the environmental challenges ie the sun making it difficult to see the one target. As always PFI, nice shooting.
maybe a drop of superglue on the threads to hold the protector on if you dont plan on using them cuz itll be a bitch to get off. but i dont know how good superglue is under heat
@dullbrass cheers bro, unfortunately i had to leave my threaded barrel with family overseas (they are banned here in Aussie Land) but thanks il try it out next time im over there.
you need to try to get your hands on a Hi-Point carbine. I bought mine for 180$ and I love it. Very reliable, tons of aftermarket trickouts available. Extremely high value.
@PFIDude sorry to hear that, ive heard nothing but good things from other owners. The only problem I have encountered is that replacement/extra magazines take some serious loving to break them in before they cycle 100%--which Ill level as a considerable hit against the hipoints. Other than that I really cant complain, accurate enough at 100yds out of the box and relatively cheap to shoot--great after-market appeal as well. Doesnt mind shooting dirty either. Cheers.
I would love to hear PFI's thoughts and/or some philosophy regarding holographic sights on handguns. The trend of the future? Overly complex? I really like the co-witnessing capability--this alleviates a lot of concerns I would have about the optic crapping out on me, etc.
Looks to me as if there's one guy with about a dozen youtube accounts and his only sense in life is to thump down each and every one of Nutn's videos. Get a life, douche.
@dullbrass there is a world where you don't have to run and gun. it's called the dead sitting ducks world where you get shot for real because you were never trained to shoot and move.
AWESOME. This is the next gun that I want to get (Handgun). Ever since I seen PFI Running in the first time in your vid Nutn.
TNP Junkie here! Must admit you (Nutn) and PFI and Sadlymissing all opened me up to new firearms that I never considered before. My addiction is getting just sick. haha
Good vid Nutn , love my basic FNP 45 . I don't need all the stuff the tactical has . I like the tab on the mags its a good reference point to rest my finger on and one less hole to get dirt in . who wouldn't like 15-16 rounds of 45 acp ! Another fun vid from TNP .
Love this video. I wanted that, but second thought I think the S&W 1911 you got out, might be a better first choice. Like to get a Buckmark like you had, how's it stack up next to the very first Ruger gun made too.
Keep up the good videos, hope your not done with that F&N and have a happy New year. Second thought disregard all above and do a review on GAS X product in Trench Warfare? :)
At 11:14 I was glad to see PFIDude taking cover to reload. Perfecting this technique is paramount and should be practiced whenever possible. I've been watching TNP vids a while and I think that Nutn does NOT stress this enough, at least not in the trench.
The Ron Paul Ad was interesting.

Hey, cool note! I got one of those guns, and I ran into the same "weak ass ejection/hits the optic" problem.
Don't use 185 or 200 grain ammo. I tried loading 200 grain bullets as hot as I could get them, still failed to feed sometimes.
Use 230 grainers. The extra kick helps reliable function, and throws cases cleanly.

Looks to me as if there's one guy with about a dozen youtube accounts and his only sense in life is to thump down each and every one of Nutn's videos. Get a life, douche.

@dullbrass Maybe if people didn't call other people "douches" they would all get along better...... just saying

Maybe, there's a world where we don't have to run and gun :o)

@dullbrass there is a world where you don't have to run and gun. it's called the dead sitting ducks world where you get shot for real because you were never trained to shoot and move.

Looks like fun! When do I get my invite to come out and run with you guys?! LOL
Seriously though, are you going to be at the Shot Show in a few weeks in Vegas?

AWESOME. This is the next gun that I want to get (Handgun). Ever since I seen PFI Running in the first time in your vid Nutn.
TNP Junkie here! Must admit you (Nutn) and PFI and Sadlymissing all opened me up to new firearms that I never considered before. My addiction is getting just sick. haha

THAT FN is precise! I've not seen a better run in the trench! It must be that Speed bead.

Anyone here handled both the FNP45 and a Full Size USP? I have the USP in 40 and was just curious how it compared (ergonomically) to the FNP.

For an explanation and non-scientific experiment, see hickok45's video on semi-auto's without mags inserted.

if a thread protector can work its way loose, does that mean a silencer will work its way loose as well?

At 11:14 I was glad to see PFIDude taking cover to reload. Perfecting this technique is paramount and should be practiced whenever possible. I've been watching TNP vids a while and I think that Nutn does NOT stress this enough, at least not in the trench.

The kick on this gun seems pretty big.
