  • interesting to read what people think of this. Ray Charles was a master. His soul is obvious, but his sense of rhythm and phrasing is too much for some people to grasp on this. it's amazing. man.. Ray Charles...genius.

  • great arrangement

  • Pó lindo e simplesmente lindo parabéns!!

  • its pure genious to mix there music stills together i lov ray charles and i love the beetles so its pure genious to put together these talents

  • Ray Charles has truly made this song to another level.. feels more lonely than McCartney's version with strings.. R.I.P. Ray Charles...

  • Ray Charles was a musical genious, an icon.

  • I dont love haters

  • Amazing! Ray brought a high level of soul and cool to just about everything.

  • There 11 people are lonely that don't belong.

  • excellent, Ray covering the Beatles... couldnt get any better

  • F'ing AWESOME!!! Thanks for this upload! What a find......... ty, ty, ty!

  • i call him my other daddy as most of the real singers do. i am not one of them but i do appreciate. he can take any song and let you know what it means. sorely missed

  • great cover!!! never imagined it this way. RAY IS THE MAN

  • Comment removed

  • GENIO GENIO GENIO GENIO GENIO GENIO

  • ray is the man

  • listen,i like Ray very much, believe me.One thing is sure,he sings better than George and Ringo.Paul en John are just one step higher.

  • genio!

  • Ray Charles is fucking amazing!

  • thats bull ray charles cant sing for shit compared to the beatles

  • @GTA4Gaston take it easy troll. even trolling that is not funny

  • @GTA4Gaston LOL u can't hear for shit. Ray inspired the beatles.

  • Ray could certainly sing better than any beatle.

  • @Ilovetheplatypus are you sure?

  • @MrKerves I didn't think that anyone would dispute my comment, but if you have some example of the Liverpool guys singing better than Ray; I'm more than willing to listen.

  • Would like to have heard James Brown cover this song.

  • i like the fact tht the beatles even inspired charles even though ray has about ten years on the beatles.

  • Vincent vega would say "pretty fukkin goood"

  • Ray Charles is amazing and I would skin my pockets to see him live today but this is a little disappointing.

  • Lol move aside beatles ray is here to stay...like :)

  • Nice to see the other half of this song

  • this shit is fucking dope!!!

  • I had no idea ray did this one

  • ray was just the man.

  • This as got soul unlike the original great version classic Mccartney great song writers

  • @sakeena12

I'd argue the soul was written into the song - that's why so many great soul singers covered it.

  • not like the original.... its good too

  • Better than the Beatles ...if you ask me

  • this niggas got swagger

  • @AUDIOWATCHER

How dare you!! This ain't Coolio we're talking about here!

  • 9 personas no saben de musica.......

  • this is just so incredibly badass

  • Negro culiao 77

  • Damn, that "Aaah" touches the deep of my soul.

  • 9 negatives votes...? I can't believe this... guys, you can watch yout ears...

  • Ray had soul. As much as I love the Beatles, Ray brought his own touch and soul to whatever he did. I still miss him. His music and his spirit will live on for as long as there are those who love and appreciate good music.

  • The blue feel in the original allows for this, and even does it justice.

  • an absolutely AMAZING spin and soul for this song is brought out from Ray. HE appreciated music. However not able to ever touch the Beatles in my opinion, this is still none the less, absolutely amazing.

  • who is he kidding? Ray charles cant look at anybody

  • @seang24 Jack ass,lol

  • @seang24 You should be smacked for that, but I'm laughing too much to really care. LOL

  • How i wish people would just enjoy the music, the different styles and different talents out there, without engaging in sterile debate over who is "best", or over who is better than so and so. Mother Music loves all her children, don't you know...

  • I liked it...and for a 1980's songs, really liked it.

  • i like his version and his sunglasses

  • Regardless of what yawll think, Ray did a preety good dam job, he doesn't have to do the song exactly like the beatles, his vocal score is not the same so that doesn't make sense, he made the song his own as he sang, and this was preety good, yeah the beatles wrote but John Lennon did a cover too of Stand by Me, everybody does covers please Get Over It!

  • Musik Laden? What, Osama's got a brother?

  • @DoctorPencilK lolz its the german word for "store" ^^

  • I love Ray's Beatles covers. His voice and soul sound adds a great element. He sounds older and long suffering.

  • LOOK , COVERS ARE NOT IN, DO YOUR OWN VERSION OF A SONG AND BE TRUE TO THOU-SELF FIRST, THEN BE TRUE TO THE SONG...

  • Didn't like it... the chorus was pretty good

  • He's singing it a little too fast I think, otherwise good.

  • I thought it was all wrong until he got into "All the lonley people" - after which it's amazzzzing.

  • with all due respect...this sucks

  • @NYYTeixecute09 what do you dislike about it?

  • @ilovechinesetakeout he's talking half the time..the temp sucks. Idk its just all off..dosnt sound right. Not dissin ray charles..the mans a legend..but this isnt his best performance.

  • This has an interesting cover. My daughters and I did a really good acoustic cover video for my channel, we listened to a bunch of different covers of Eleanor Rigby, but didn't hear this one of Ray.

  • wow, didnt know ray did this, great cover!

  • I love this cover.....so much soul

  • Hmmmm....interesting cover

  • He matches the quality of the original. Truely a genius.

  • the best version ever; better than Beatles

  • i see 6 haters clicked the dislike button

  • lol sounds good to me :[)

  • that mother fuker wernt even in time , ohhhh no he dident

  • @rko123jja its a shame that people can't use intelligence over bad language to make a point. Of course most of the time is probably spent watching videos all day and getting fat!

  • @Lynmoody you think your smart ,even jesus swears ........ bitch

  • @rko123jja Oh really where did he swear? LOL! Show it/Prove it! Unless the words in the Bible are too complicated for you to comprehend due to lack of curse words????????????????????????????????????????

  • @Lynmoody the bit where he calls his step dad a shit cause hes not alowed to go football practice

  • @rko123jja LMFAO......that was wrong....but hella funny

  • This cover is amazing. Pianists dream of being as good as Ray.

  • "Better" doesn't matter. It's just good. Charles honored the Beatles by covering it.

Compare the white and black versions of "Walk Away, Renee." One is mostly beautiful, the other is mostly soulful. I'm glad I can have them both ways.

  • Let us not forget the Beatles wrote this (well John did me thinks). Ray however...what superlatives have not been said about Ray? Not sure the scousers version could have been bettered by anyone but Ray is not just anyone.

A true legend, a true true legend. If there is a heaven then God please lay on some instruments for John and Ray.......

  • @bigbeef30

Actually, I'm pretty sure it was Paul's. A rule of thumb for the Beatles is that whoever sings most of the lead vocals probably wrote it.

  • @vangela321 Yup, it's a Paul song. John, Ringo and Donavan threw in the odd lyric. Great times, eh!

  • @bigbeef30 Thousands of great performers. Be it Budhists, muslim, christian and atheist performers.

  • whit! showed the beatles how to sing that song. joy.

  • my fav version: streetmark

  • pretty cool but i like the beatles better.

  • every singer sings it their own way. you cant compare them. theyre stars on their own in a different way from each other.

  • You CANNOT top Ray Charles. Hot damn.

  • This took the sadness and all the soul that was put into it right out. Some of the parts didn't seem that bad but it is too fast-paced and has crappy background instruments.

  • @MASTERoftheNOAH

Ray Charles is the textbook definition of soul, he never took it out of anything.

  • I guess this one is ok.I think to be honest from a psychological perspective, its like the human brain appreciates what it first hears or whatever is first presented. But think he put a nice lil "southernness"to it/blues

  • Sparverine, So go on tell me which songs penned by Ray Charles did The Beatles cover?

  • thats a different way to sing that song

  • A question of enculturation.

    Both versions are phenomenal.

To the tempo: Ray Charles wanted to stress other syllables. Mind the first verse: ...picks up the rice in the church where a WEDding has been... ...wearing the face that she keeps in a JAR by the door... Compare it to the original.

  • ray charles never fails to put a smile on my face :) what a guy.

he was'nt an angel, and who is really... but he resembles that to me with his nature and ever positive way of thinking, humbleness, humility, humanity, wisdom and without mentioning his music too. i dont like to ramble but i think a lot of this fella. love you ray your my hero!

  • Seems a little rushed in the phrasing..... Cool towards the middle though.

  • @ancientwhale i honestly don't think it's rushed...this is the way he wanted it to sound.

  • i really like the way he did it myself, i bet it grows on you maybe nmot now ive said it lol. but its ray he comes with his own truth and made this his own yet still gave the song and lyric respect. "wait a minute listen!" love that... the only real genius in the business sinatra once said, a fellow musician with perfect pitch is maybe worth noting too. he was just the truth :)

  • Ray does a good job here, also check out the version by Rare Earth. You'll be surprised.

  • I like both this and the original version.

The soul nature of the song featured here makes it very dramatic and darker than the original version to some extent.

Its also so different, it's hard to say which is "better," just which version you like more.

Paul loved Ray's version, and felt honored to have one of his heros sing his song. John apparently hated it though.

"Lady Madonna" also has an R&B cover by Fats Domino which is VERY well done.

  • Eh. I dunno. I feel like he sings a tad fast. I still love his voice, though.

  • he sings an interesting timing, don't you think?

  • I mean, it's really what he does, but I'd rather have the Beatles singing this, personally.

  • I'm an avid Beatles listener, and I've never been able to get into Ray Charles... yet. This cover is genius, because not only does it hold true to the original, but it showcases Ray's talent, and is still his own style. I love this.

  • the beatles were good...very good if you want..but ray charles was a genius, period.

  • I think ray covers the beatles better than anyone ive ever heard..

  • uncovering

  • Superlative

  • he was special...

  • Why does everyone have to preface their opinion with which version they like better? I wasn't even thinking of the Beatles hearing this. How can you listen to Ray and think of anything else? If you can do this, you aren't really listening.

  • I only think of The Beatles inasmuch that they wrote the song originally. Also, I think it is stupid to say which version is better, because from the fact that the Beatles and Ray Charles covered a good amount of each other's songs, there was a deep mutual respect.

  • this is amazing

  • I'm a huge Beatles fan, and normally I can't stand covers of them. Most of the time they are awful, and I just wonder why they thought, "Yeah. I can do that better than The Beatles".

This however is a great cover. This also shows how great of an artist Ray was. There just aren't that many people that can take a classic song, change it up, and make it great.

  • dla mnie zajebiste!!!

  • Ray Charles all the way

  • all i can do is drop my jaw

  • Elliot Dyson is a wonderful man. We watch his show as often as we can. He is very friendly, good singer, and fun to watch. Good job!!!!!!!!!

  • <3 this song

  • This reminds me of Aretha's version from 'This girls in love with you."

    With Brother Duane on guitar!!!

  • I hope to be that ^^ good one day in any instrement

  • if you are, you will be one of the greatest of all time. thats how good ray was.

    a true gift from God

  • u get a thumbs up for that

  • wow,ray charles does a great cover.Course i like the beatles version more but this is great!

  • I love how awsome he is.....I think ray ray is sooooo much cooler than the beatles like the way he plays the songs.....he makes it all cool and spicy,,,,LOL.....I wish I could meet him.....one of my heroes.....=\

  • HAHAHAHhahahaha better or worse ?? It's not a competition. Their both different I love them both.

  • Beatles version is better then this

    but yea hes awesome

  • he really means it! .. soo good A rendition, 4 liver boys can only be proud of that, music magic,

  • This is not better than The Beatles, but Ray brought a unique soul of his own to this song. RIP.

  • @Queen4Ever12

It's funny bcuz i wrote the same about his soul in another song with Ray ; o .

  • @Queen4Ever12 i agree 100%

  • Yea I know what you mean, he put his own feelings in it which made this just plain out awesome!

  • actually it is an opinion.. yours.

    you moron

  • I'm not a Beatles fanatic or anything, but I think I like the original better. This has a more pop feel to it, which is not how I feel it should have been delivered.

  • I think that the beatles are way overrated and ray chrales did an awesome job on this song. This song seems soulful to me and ray charles matched the mood of the lyrics, even though it is a beatle's song. the beatles are good too, but ray chrales is one of the best

  • Ray Charles was great and I definitely disagree and think The Beatles were not overrated. Some of their contemporaries were UNDERRATED but The Beatles were definitely the best.

  • The Eleanor Rigby MECCA!! The Beatles did an OK job on this, but they can't hold a candle to Ray. I'm so glad you posted this. Thanks SOOOOO much ;)

  • I respect Ray's version and his fans'opinions, but the Beatles'version is still the best.

  • Only Ray could take a great song and make it yet greater. We still love ya Ray R.I.P.

  • Better than Beatles... Sorry to Beatles fans.. it is though.

  • I agree with you ray could take a song and make it his own rip ray

  • I heard this on the radio a few months ago and have not been able to find it anywhere!!! It is kinda creepy, maybe thats why its so awsome. thanks for posting!!!

  • ufffffff, espectacular, es Ray.

  • ray charles had such a great voice. i had this song by ray charles and by the beatles (and by thrice and by godhead) on my ipod a couple months ago.

i really want to know the whole story behind this; the beatles didn't usually do this sort of thing before they made this song, and it came across as sort of creepy. i want to know the reasoning for this atmosphere created by the way the song is sung. does anyone have any kind of help they can offer me plz?

  • you know i always wondered why it had that aura around it...i think the beatles looked for that sort of impact because of how they viewed it.

  • in 1964 the Beatles were on drugs

  • No, it's not because they were on drugs.

This song came to be while Paul was playing with his piano and tinkering around, that's all it is. A different sound that they all liked.

  • okay, first of all, don't reply to a comment made over 5 months ago, especially if it has already been answered.

second, i did not say a single thing about drugs in my comment.

    ...

    what are you, high?

  • this is great...

  • Ohhhhhh God!!! R.I.P. Ray Charles.
