@Fanarh No, Bal Sagoth are not a satanic band, all their songs are based on a fantasy world which their singer created. They deal with ancient demons, elder gods, aliens, epic battles and stuff. And Bal Sagoth comes from a story written by the singer's favorite writer called "The Gods of Bal Sagoth". It's an island.
@detonating obviously you think metal is srs bznz, and that you cant listen to an awesome band like Bal Sagoth, because its not brootal and serious enough for you. Put it this way, would you voluntarily let someone moan about the same things every day for hours at you, about their miserable angst and how their balls are constricted by the tightness of their jeans, or have someone narrate an epic tale to you beautifully and eloquently.
@detonating No idea who Hatebreed is. And you're an idiot judging by your extreme ignorance. Anything with Core in it is a progeny of Hardcore Punk pretty much. and Alternative rock is a progeny of Punk music.
I'm the only person I know that listens to this band actually, except my friend that I got into them, and I know 4 other people who actually like some metal so fuck off with your assumptions.
Mallcore is pretty much a term like mallgoth. But I rather not go into the details of it.
Just found out that these guys are from Yorkshire, England like me and that the lead singer Byron Roberts is from Sheffield, again like me. One of the coolest bands ever right on my fucking doorstep.
Terrible comparison. Runescape wasn't even epic, and the music wouldn't even match up to this, the game itself lacks the majesty Bal-Sagoth has brought and thus cannot be compared.
@NWG92 Not even close. Runescape is a terrible composition of crap midi instruments, what I think? Is you don't know enough about classical/orchestral/symphonic music to have anything else to compare to.
@MrScorn Whether you think the compositions are crap or not have nothing to do with the fact that they are, in fact, similar to this song. And let me guess: you're familiar with a metal band or two that have a "symphonic" element and suddenly you're a classical music aficionado, right? You listen to Bal-Sagoth and probably Nightwish and Dimmu Borgir. If you think that makes you an authority on orchestral music, you're delusional. And like it or not, this is reminiscent of Runescape's music.
@NWG92 And as I said, you're clearly just saying that because you have no higher grounds of comparison.
It's like listening to Metal/mallcore and then hearing a real metal band and comparing that band to sounding like the metalcore one, when infact metalcore is a shitty attempt to fuse alternative rock/punk and metal, but don't want to stray from the emo crowed so they settle for playing 'mallcore'
@NWG92 Also I don't recall when runescape came out, I thin mid or late 90's AFTER ultima online which infact they copied. Bal-sagoth formed in early 90's...
Also, I don't recall runescape even having any music until runescape 2.
@MrScorn Calm down, I never said that anyone copied anyone. And, in case I'd been giving you the wrong impression, this music is obviously far and away from Runescape music structurally, but it's got the same medieval vibe to it which creates a really similar atmosphere.
And I don't know the difference between Runescape and Runescape 2, but I used to play the game a few years back and this song conjures up strong memories of its music, particularly that which you'd hear in more dangerous areas.
@willgimon Yes I did play them both... but that's irrelevant, and I think you were meaning to reply to NWG92 if you were reading the second comment down from this post.
Greeeeeat song!!!!!!!My fav..... And Lo, When The Imperium Marches Against GUL-Kothoth Then Dark Sorceries Shall Enshroud The Citadel Of The Obsidian Crown !!!!!!
@MonkeyIron The vocals on Starfire are mixed with an inverted phase on one channel, so they could sound more "surround" on stereo systems - but when youtube converts the sound to mono, the vocals get phase-cancelled and disappear. Never try that at home!
Oh yes, an awesome song, and one of the highlights from the masterpiece of the Starfire album! (But note that it's meant to be GUL-Kothoth, with a "G", not a "c". Check the album!)
The video title is not complete, it should say:
"And lo, when the Imperium marches against Gul-Kothoth, then Dark Sorceries Shall Enshroud the Citadel of the Obsidian Crown"
Tongue twisters never sounded so badass ;)

@MrScorn You just called someone an idiot for ignorance, immediately after proclaiming your ignorance of Hatebreed. Irony?

@NWG92 I listen to Dimmu borgir, not nightwish they suck. And No I actually listen to Classical Radio music before I go to sleep every night.
there is absolutely no relation, if there is anyone who's delusional it's you. Point out one song from that game that sounds like any of their music.
