dont use the windows defender use norton its alot better cause i did a comparesion i downloaded a virus and i have both instaled and the norton picked it up and deleted it but windows d did nothing it didnt even know i had a virus plus the firewall is much better 2 i know hp pcs come with norton not sure about others tho

it is, it has a built in program called windows defender that is an antispyware program and viruses...well the User Account Control helps alot to protect against them but you will most likely still need an anti virus program. i am only running a free version of AVG and i have no problems yet

Nothing about this really excites me. Microsoft never has been an innovator. They copy ideas from others - they copied the windows gui from Apple, and they bought DOS from somebody else, and they didn't come up with the web browser either.

What you say is true but there is a fact that is undeniable, even if you posted this using Firefox on some flavor of Linux. 73% of computers at home run using a Microsoft operating system. Even many Linux users dual (or multi-boot) with Windows as an option. - And good deal of Mac owners have a PC running Windows in their house and sometimes on the same desk. You got to admit, that's something.

one problem in windows 7. the media player is not transparent like vista's. also there is lots of that grey-white kinda theme in your windows as well, as opposed to the vista green. so i like vista better as far as appearance.

So I've been running windows 7 build 7100 for a sence it came out and I forgot to tell the family that it's going to shut down and stop running shortly after the launch of the final version and my family piled alot of games and music and pictures and crap all over it. I don't usually comment of stuff here on but for such an important, current topic you would think PCMAG would have been able to come up with someone who doesn't put you to sleep and actually drive you towards alcohol addiction by their speech. I'm running both XP and Ubuntu. I can make either OS do just about everything Windows 7 can do. Only difference is it cost me ZERO dollars to setup Ubuntu. The only reason I even run XP is for games.
