Dirk Nowitzki has a very special throwing technique (as anyone can see!).

He doesn´t put as much backspin into it as most other players do, sometimes there´s even kinda topspin.

Thats why a Dirk-shot hitting the rims axle (or whatever its called^^) doesn´t "slip" in but bounces more then we are used to see.

If he expects the tough shot and might be coming up short, he sometimes topspins them, so they "slip" if they hit the front end.
