@97432561 this is EVO 6. The guy removes its rear wing. You can distinguish evo 5 and 6 from its front licenses number location. EVO6 location is in left side.
@z0mb13n00b if you're talking about the live action film, that movie had really nothing to do with the anime/manga. it was a really messed up story line. so it would be the AE86.
ok a lot of comments r about y they drift and the evo got my grip then drift ok :S all cars will drift if u go 2 fast in 2 a turn and what they do on initial D r called four wheel drifts u see rally car drivers do em and even F1 driver will do em when u see em racing normal cars there is a vid or ayrton senna in a NSX doing em around turns all it is is there going so fast around turns the cars r sliding initial D is that kinda drift just gong 2 fast around turns and they r sliding not trying 2
I know it won't be much good for telly, but why don't these guys just ram each other or just simply overtake instead of drifting around and destroying the rears?
@TheOfficialComokanu ramming someone although might help you win you risk damaging your car and wrecking yourself in the process..or wrecking yourself and not hurting the car you hit at all and besides it's not very sportsmanlike to go ramming someone ;-) instead of using your own skills to beat them which is what the entire series is about....
I think people need to know a bit more about cars before they start bashing the series, and other people. First off, the tech adviser for the series is Keiichi Tsuchiya. This means that while the driving depicted in the series is often times farfetched, it is still possible.
Second, FWD vehicles CAN drift. However, they are unable to maintain a drift. A drift is nothing more than having the vehicle slide.
Besides, most of the stuff the Japanese have come up with is pretty possible to do.
F-zero is nothing more than Hovercars with Jet engines attached.
Even so you could have a car with twin jet engines at the back with a dual throttle control that activates both the Internal combustion and jet engines.
he was right though, there was a EK9 Civic in one Initial D but you can still run a FWD car down a touge, if the turns are small and steep you can throw out the back end just enough to get by.
FWD doesnt suck either, if you want to build a street car for speed and not drifting its good for 500hp or less, hence why i myself have a FWD
you CANT drift a FWD, drifting requires the back tires to be spinning but not gripping, basically you slide and still get speeding momentum. FWD you just drag the ass and you cant hold it long.
AWD can drift because if i remember 80% of the power is to the rear and 20% to the front.
and the AE86 was RWD, one of the last of the model that Toyota did RWD
Because this is a anime show that doesn't depict a car's true handling characteristics. You can't base a car's handling on a anime show, especially this show. Want to see some REAL stuff you want to base your knowledge off of, go watch, "Hot Version," or "Best Motoring."
@wilson3a10 yeah....mistakes caused by tire wear cuz they tried to lose takumi or tried to keep up with him, for example kyosuke lost because "mistake" caused by front tires losing their grip because hes tire wore out cuz he copied takumis line
@cherryhijau lol.. takumi won because he used his blind driving technique..! he turned off his head lights and it brought confusion to the capuccino driver and caused him the battle.. not a squirrel! where did u get your story?
actually idiot, on nasioc we windtunnel tested the STI oem Spoiler and it does provide downforce starting @ the 65+mph range and over a couple hundred lbs @ 100+ mph. So yes it actually does help plant the rear end.

oh, how could i forget how critical of a component an sti's wing is. since the car is sooo "fast" it needs this flashy wobbly wing screwed onto the back trunk so that it keeps the car from flying away into the sky from intense supercar speeds. right?
AWD can drift setting the differential setting to the rear, even though the will still be torque applied to the front drive there will be more on the rear and will drift perfectly.
AWD and 4WD aren't the same. 4WD you have an option to change it to a 2WD and as for AWD it's stuck AWD. AWD and 4WD can drift, depends on settings and road conditions
alot of people who want to drift a 4wheel drive or all wheel drive use the weight transfer to initiate a drift e.g.scandinavian flick which is frequently used in rallying. The only reason people say they "cant" is because they cant drift at a professional level since they'll regain traction long before a RWD
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Of course you can drift a FWD like the AE86. Remove weight from the rear and mod the engine to make it heavier. Plus, the track is usually greased, since a car's TCS (Traction Control System) will not let a car slide,
i drift purest would never admit that, alough it is possible in an FF, just fit really crappy tires on the rear. Alough an FF will never be able to drift at a competetive level
no wonder the evo lost...WAIT THE EVO LOST?!

FWD pwns RWD in the hp range below 300HP. Beyond that, the fwd gets left beind by all.

that EK9 was a front wheel drive, and it was drifting

because its animation??? FWD youre just going to drag the ass on cement, you can slide alright in rain and fairly good in slushy snow though
MrSparco777 2 years ago 2
lol i agree with sparco
RWD owns all in drifting
and y the hell r u guys talkingabout FWD and RWD wen this vid is on AWD vs. RWD

spoiler in an evo is purely cosmetic, same with the subaru wrx sti, it provides no downforce whatsoever, its just the "trademark" of the car.

also the style of driving can make it drift, and also yes, torque bias.

this is bullshit. if you really know how to drive, you can drift an FWD car.
obviously you don't that much.

If the car has enough weight in the front, it will not need a spoiler. Even so, it would be helpful.
KamiKaze11000 2 years ago
indeed, but since it was tuned for downhill the reduced downforce at the back would allow more traction for the front tires
