Yes i do agree with both of you but If you look around most bands have a kind of fashion and if people find that appealing then that's life right? However I love their music, if sends me into a hypnotic trance, it reminds me of a gothic, grungy garage band with a hint of hendrix, the cure and echo and the bunnymen. I love these guys.
Yeah, I know the clothing is cool and everything, and image is important, especially now, but the music should come first. But then again, I understand it's their image that can get people interested in them, I guess there's nothing wrong with that. But sometimes it's seems like they're a boy band or something, comments like "OMG! His hair is sooo kute! I want that exact same shirt!" It gets annoying.
why do people focus on the clothes and look so much? It seems that most people like them or at least get into them for that reason. You always see teenage girls talking about the haircuts or how "cute" they are but never the songs. They actually make pretty good music, but the only thing I don't like is how fashion oriented they are.
@cardigansarecool this is true. its the capitalist hand at work, selling the "global and marketable image". if they just wore jeans and t shirts they'd probably sell less music. Great sound though :) the primary colours has been a great evolution of their sound. more mature and developed :D
They have been criminally overhyped. I hated them for a long time too. But I realize it's not their fault. They don't get to decide who will like them and who won't. When so many gravitate to something, just as many people go in the oppsotie direction. I mean, they weren't helping themselves with the first album, they seemed really gimmicky. But thankfully they toned down the fashion on the new album and it completely changed my opinion of the band. It's a great record.

listen to the beginning of this song, and the beginning of David Bowie's Jean Genie...so similar that initial guitar sound randomly noticed while listening to both
I saw them live and they were bloody amazing but I was quite disappointed because the venue's sound system was absolutely dreadful. I was also a bit sad that they didn't play their older tunes. But regardless, they were fantastic.
