Fantastic to see these again. I was born in 62 and used to watch these little cuties all the time. No computer CGI here, good honest puppetry but very convincing to a three year old.
i'm 21 and from the usa, even though this was in the 60's and in england, i can see why they loved this show... some of the new shows today are bowls of shit like spongebob and icarly... this is an awesome show i wish they would rerun the searies for a little while for fun
Can I hazzard a guess that some posters read the Dail Mail? Just a guess. Personally I love our TV with its epic adventure shows, superb comedies like Outnumbered and gripping action dramas such as Spooks. I was brought up on 70's TV and even though there were some great shows, most of it was crud. Even Dr Who today is huge improvement. But I agree about Reality TV shows - not that you have to watch them if you don't want. Switch over to good docs, comedies and dramas. They're all there.
Ahhh! a wonderful stroll down Memory Lane. One Christmas I was given a money box made of plastic in the form of the one with the hat (not sure whether it was Pinky or Perky) and it was full of toffees. I had it for years and it sat on my bedroom windowsill. Happy carefree days, wish I was back there.
I loved this show as a kid :) I had a video of them which had flashing red lights or something on the front when you pressed something...hmmm must have been 10 years ago. Which is odd considering it's from the 60s-70s isn't it? x
I wasn't born yet when this was first made, but I watched it at my grandparents house in the 90's... Especially this episode! The first one I remember watching!
I miss being a kid, i'm only 18, but I miss those years of being free and not having a care in the world :(
i love these little guys, in their lil car driving round london and their little songs like i got a lovely bunch of coconuts. still got the video with a couple of episodes that used to light up and sing their theme tune. bbc could learn from these two and not put on so much garbage or try and remake them and make it an epic fail - postman pat, fireman sam etc
@JamesFlipper77 Alvin and the Chipmunks must be America's reponse to Pinky and Perky- Pinky and Perky was first broadcast in 1957, Alvin and the Chipmunks was created in 1958. :)
Okay, now I get it. Being from the States, I'd never heard of these guys. I ran across their "Let's Twist Again" video here on YouTube first, and I thought, Boy, that's lame, but now that I can see more of how the show was staged, it's quite clever and cute.
I love Pinky and Perky! There just so innocent and sweet.Personally I wish television had more of things like this-harmless comedy-instead of the usual cheap shockers, reality television and soap opera garbage that is flung our way every evening. Go Pinky and Perky!
Amazing to see this again, I lived in Whitehaven when this was on tv and haven't been back since we moved in 1967 but all of a sudden I can feel the pebbles underfoot on St Bees beach, the pale blue railings around the school playground, the library in the hut near the park taking out Thomas the Tank Engine and needing a week to read it . . . Great memories of being a little 'un. Now a grandfather!
My mum bought this on video from Poundstretchers for my little brother back in 1993, so I must have been eight. I remember watching it - hilarious! The box for the video had a button you pressed that made their eyes light up and played the song!
this is the early version of alvin andthe chimpmunks
