I must say this is QUITE an improvement. I don't hate the new interior but I like Tim said it belongs in a Ski Lodge or a Great Wolf Lodge or something. Overall I think this was a fantastic mod!

Your speed comparison feature was very cool, but not sure what this tells us when I've seen car speed vary even within the same elevator system. I'm tempted to make my own speed comparusion video to demonstrate this :-)

To me the voice was sort of a tip off to Miconic 10, but I give like 80 thumbs up to their old hall panel when compared to this new one...

That, and the fact that these controllers are nutoriously buggy.

When I was at the Marquis in NYC, the only time a high-rise call was accepted, was using the low-rise side. Sometimes, they never worked. I almost took the MPE up 30 flights.

The mod was complete, it's the software that actually isn't, and it's considered a "finished product".

We'd never expect any more from Schindler anyway. :)

PORT allows for a smoother ride. you aren't letting other people on and off.

If it weren't for the voice reading off the floors on the call console, this system would not be ADA compliant. Blind people couldn't use the elevator.

And I agree about the interiors. It's like being inside an orange crate.

Thanks for introducing me to the PORT system. I had never heard of it. That sign in the lobby is really cool. Maybe Hilton has partnered with Schindler to get PORT into their hotels. It seems like that marketing they created for the lobby can/will be mass-produced.

@ElevatingBoston If they had just left the interiors alone (maybe just placed a cabinet over the buttons or something), they would have been much better off in my opinion. The old floor indicators and old cabs were much nicer. Not to mention, the last modernization where those cabs and indicators were added was only about 5 years ago!

As a blind guy, Schindler PORT kicks Miconic 10 all over the place, as the voice is actually understandable. Dieselducy has a video where he thinks he's riding a Miconic 10, but now I know it was a PORT.

They did put the classic Schindler voice on these, you either love it or hate it. For me, I prefer the Otis woman :)
