  • if you must put music on think it should have been "Who let the dogs out" Are all nikon flash this crap they over heat? not had it with my Canon one

  • @devonmale69 haha, yeah true. No, only the 900 has that issue.

  • AUDIO is 50% of the video!!!! great techniques, but this might be the worst video I have watched for the audio I have ever seen. sorry to be so critical but you must have shot next to a dog pound and the drum music was obnoxious as well as you music selection.

Very informative info tho, just wish your audio was better.

  • @lancecadena cheers, this video is old, and my audio is improving rapidly, hope the more recent videos better for you.

  • kill that dog

  • This series is excellent. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

  • lmao - dogs barking!

  • Great videos but you should find an assistant for shooting videos ! Image is shaking and hurting eyes, sound is full of wind sounds that are breaking my ears, and however your videos are nice, they looks boring because of the bad video quality ! But by the way, thanks a lot for tutorials ;-)

  • omg, that friggin dog!

  • I love the part when you said that fcuking sb900.....lol it made me laugh

  • @marque27 it is annoying! :-)

  • Nice tutorial.thanks a lot...BTW..Kill the dig please

  • Hi mate,

Seen a couple of your videos, And I must say THANKS FOR THE GREAT advice, you really helped me understand light even more than I did on my own.

I have to ask I'm thinking of buying a monolight starder kit an elinchrom d-lite 2 set or 4 set, which one would you suggest.

    Thanks

  • @popscauchi get the 4 - why not. Not much more money, more power and flexibility if you need it down the track.

  • @kongloud I use sanyo eneeloop. I think is from the flash head heat, not battery compartment.

  • Nice tutorial.Thanks

  • if I had to live in the city,Idd frikkin kill myself......barking nightmare

  • what lens were you using? thank you

  • 7:20 i mean

  • 7.20 i laughed at the boredom moment Lol!

  • too much barking in the background, didnt hear most of the video

  • @DizGti Yes apologies for the audio, and the dog! I have since bought a wireless mic to avoid these problems.

  • Dear Matt, I have seen many of your video's with a lot of interest and i think most of them are shot alone by you while doing the photography and voice at the same time. Appreciate your effort to share your learning and passion with us.

  • Sir thanks for the quick reply. I posted some of my photos in your facebook fan page. PLease do comment with all honesty so I would know how am at in photography. This is one passion I wouldn't give up for the world!!! More power to you!!!

  • all your vids are very helpful sir please don't get tired teaching us about this... I hope you can do about nightclub photography as well!!! Thank you much!

  • @benedictsalvacion thanks for the comment and request. Funnily enough I just shot in a night/strip club yesterday - video coming soon.

  • Is that you drumming on a desk or something.. ?

  • i understand now why you're better behind the camera instead of in front :D

    JK nice tutorial

  • @Bemap30 :(

  • Wow someone shoot those dogs! Nice video. I subbed because of these strobist tutorials. Thanks!

  • @iamravenous Thanks for the comment - and I am getting a wireless mic - so I can coexist with the dogs, wind and traffic without going crazy!

Check out the That Nikon Guy facebook page - you can share and learn more strobist techniques there.

  • Very cool.

  • You're really creative =)

  • @PhotosPassionYou thanks!

  • @PhotosPassionYou thanks

  • Crazy Question: lol Im looking to order some more Photography polo shirts. Where did you get yours?

    GREAT VIDEO!

  • @DaLgt haha, really? Where are you based? I bought my shirts outright, then took to an embroidery store to get the decals put on.

  • @thatnikonguy Just thought that you could get together with @Dombowerphoto via youtube to have a contest for best tutorial on a chosen subject. Winner chosen by viewers. Just highlighting different ways of doing things thats where the Australia vs UK (the Ashes) came from.

  • Nice tutorial. Like the bongos. How about doing an event photography tutorial? No light stands or tripods and in situations where bouncing flash won't work (high ceilings, cavernous convention center type of environs). You don't see much of that on YouTube.

  • @DNNishi Thanks. Not a bad idea - I'd just have to find a suitable event where I can have a camera person follow me around, and where I have enough time to talk through what I am doing - in events I get stuck in and get the job done.

  • @thatnikonguy Yeah, you can kill two birds. A light modifier shootout with the Flashbender you unboxed previously and that Gary Fong Lightsphere thing on top of doing the event photography.

  • @Dombowerphoto & @thatnikonguy I think we need to have a YouTube Photography Tutorial "Ashes Test Match"

  • @haychmack ??

  • great tips once again. the first pic cracked me up for some reason.

  • Seriously Matt, turn off the overheat function in the menu. I have spoken to many people about this and they have all said that Nikon added the option to protect them selves but set the cut-off point far too low!! I turned mine off and have had no problems with the flash since. I can not recommend doing it enough. I was constantly over heating my unit and have not felt any high temperatures or loss of power (or ANY other problems for that matter) since.

  • hahahaha at the dog!
