I don't understand why you would expect the armed escorts to stay in the killzone. If they stayed next to his truck, which was apparently in the middle of the attack.. everyone would probably be killed. The GPMGs and .50cals the gunners have wouldn't have been effective in such a narrow area. If you watch the actual tape, you can hear the escorts taking fire, and one guy bleeding out over the radio. Maybe don't privatize logistics, this would've been all military and cost less to Americans

that was that specific units fuck up, not the whole military. im in iraq right now doin convoy security, and im infantry. we had a kbr tanker get blown up one night total loss, driver was fine, he jumped in another bobtail and the whole convoy pushed outta the kill zone, once the convoy was safe our trucks pulled security for it and then 2 went back to secure the hit tanker until eod and qrf got there. and sheriff is the dude who sits on base and has all maps, sig acts, and route status's.

hey dude, im in the fuckin national guard, yeah i dont like it too much, too many shit bags but we just got back from iraq doin convoy protection and yea most of the younger guys E-1 to E-4 are dumber then a box of rocks our nco leadership and officer leadership was premo, we had to do that shitty job and the protection of the convoy was our first priority because that was our job for the deployment. i've seen some pretty fucked up active duty unit. the guys escorting that convoy were cowards.

hey deathfromabove, that happened in 2004, oif2. the reason your unit has the sop's it has is from trial and error from gunners like myself who had to make it up along the way. we did'nt have the nice armor and electrict turrets we have now. we were lucky to have hillbilly armor. you ever sit in a firefight for more then 10 min with no gun sheild? armor? it was shitty what happened to these guys, but yes at that time of the war we had to hit our ralley points, they should've went back though

I don't understand why you would expect the armed escorts to stay in the killzone. If they stayed next to his truck, which was apparently in the middle of the attack.. everyone would probably be killed. The GPMGs and .50cals the gunners have wouldn't have been effective in such a narrow area. If you watch the actual tape, you can hear the escorts taking fire, and one guy bleeding out over the radio. Maybe don't privatize logistics, this would've been all military and cost less to Americans

The Army does as well, but they are usually put in place longer and take more casualties because were not giving the enemy at all a piece of the military. Thats why the Army is losing more men, longer deployments, and they arent gettin after the enemy the way we should be because of liberal dicksuck politicians. Theyre basically target practice for ieds and small ambushes.

A-Co 1-15 Inf responded to this mess, and had the entire town of Ad Duluiyah on complete lockdown for 5 days. The porblem here...number 1 the national guard unit failed to inform us that they were coming in our sector (and they ran when hit). We didnt happen to have anyone in sector at the time...number two our FOB was about a 20 minute ride from town. alot can happen in 20

This is bullshit!! You can see that they clearly abandoned him. For one, they don't give contractors weapons, why?!! If they had weapons they could mount a defense for situations like this. If the excuse is the military will protect them, then they clearly failed in this situation. Just listen to what they said. The blackhawk came back 40 minutes later. So he had to survive for 40 minutes with no fire arms. If that was the President, would it have taken 40 minutes?

that was that specific units fuck up, not the whole military. im in iraq right now doin convoy security, and im infantry. we had a kbr tanker get blown up one night total loss, driver was fine, he jumped in another bobtail and the whole convoy pushed outta the kill zone, once the convoy was safe our trucks pulled security for it and then 2 went back to secure the hit tanker until eod and qrf got there. and sheriff is the dude who sits on base and has all maps, sig acts, and route status's.

I found out that Haliburton was there to supply clean water and food and stuff but they didn't even do that right. hey dude, im in the fuckin national guard, yeah i dont like it too much, too many shit bags but we just got back from iraq doin convoy protection and yea most of the younger guys E-1 to E-4 are dumber then a box of rocks our nco leadership and officer leadership was premo, we had to do that shitty job and the protection of the convoy was our first priority because that was our job for the deployment. i've seen some pretty fucked up active duty unit. the guys escorting that convoy were cowards.

hey deathfromabove, that happened in 2004, oif2. the reason your unit has the sop's it has is from trial and error from gunners like myself who had to make it up along the way. we did'nt have the nice armor and electrict turrets we have now. we were lucky to have hillbilly armor. you ever sit in a firefight for more then 10 min with no gun sheild? armor? it was shitty what happened to these guys, but yes at that time of the war we had to hit our ralley points, they should've went back though

The video here is edited, watch the video as shot. He is behind a gun truck (who's M2 doesn't fire) slows down because of a KBR in front goes down, then speeds off. The Hmv shown is the one that drives past him to get out of the "kill zone". Similar situation with Ohio NG. There the trail vehicles p/u wounded when they went past them. A sgt. p/u 9 wounded in the back seat of his hmv and got them out of harms way. Reminds me of a song, Yellow Stain Blues!

He ought to be thanking the Lord he's still alive. Most of the KBR guys that I talked to know the risks and wouldn't come back and dis the military. They are getting paid nearly quadruple what we were being paid, I have no sympathy for them.

If you can't handle it don't go! If you're a trucker you don't understand that situation dictates what you employ on the battle field. I would never stop in the kill but for a fellow soldier. Sounds fucked up but there is a value put on lives. Ask anyone who had to pull a PSD mission. The soldiers did their job. It's COMBAT MEN AND WOMEN WILL DIE! the day you have a set way to handle a situation is the day the enemy will counter you and 3 dead is better than 12.

The army did the right thing...drive through the kill zone.....he knows the risk...simple as that.
The only possible mistake was not stopping when they thought they made a bad turn...as they didnt know if they were in a secure zone...but as for what happened after the decision was made and they moved on...the ambush...it was textbook.

KBR needs to keep in mind, they are NOT in Iraq risking their lives for us. They are doing it for the money. So before they get on a kick of "support me love me feel sorry for me", thhey need to check themselves and learn to respect our US soldiers. ok genius - hear the buzzer in the truck after the RPG explosion?? That's the low air pressure alarm! The RPG damaged air components (likley the air tanks on the passenger side). When the air pressure drops below around 30 p.s.i. the truck and trailer maxi brakes - (parking brakes) are automatically applied. You really think if he had simply stalled the truck he wouldn't have restarted it and drove off?? The brakes were locked on!!
