eric clapton for years copied BB King, then, he heard Hendrix, he wanted to copy but couldn't due to lack of talent, and i even heard in his duet album with BB King that he copied some SRV stuff, other than that he plays his same riffs all these years

i know. there's no point. if i would get a signature guitar i would sell it eventually because i wouldn't like the artist anymore.

I'm going to be getting an MB custom shop Clapton strat next week cause Clapton is my main influence, a very strong influence to me and I understand your point about making your own name very well, but over time I will change some things about it, my signature will be going on the back of the headstock, I might send it back off to the custom shop for some artwork to be put on, maybe a slight fiddle with the electronics etc.....

This way my biggest influence will be in the guitar I play but it will also be my guitar, If it wasn't for Clapton I probably wouldn't of been as influenced and still be playing, and therefore I feel I should honor that in some sense by keeping some of him in my guitar if you get what I mean?
